Well done to TC for it's return
No. The site will be forums only moving forward. I don't have the time or the motivation for the rest of it. The forums were brought back because of the number of emails I got about them and the fact they are very well indexed by search engines. The Forums do have an inbuilt calendar capability which I've enabled and I will create forums for Results and Classifieds.

NEW DUNLOP TL01 REAR TYRE
I went with the new Kenda Ibex K7105 rear tire because I read great reviews about them and they’re less than half the price of a Michelin or Dunlop. They’re even cheaper than the IRCs. I still have my Michelins on my bike but I wanted a spare rear tire. Every time I looked at the Michelins I felt like they were trying to rip me off. I simply don’t know why they’re so expensive. One can get a huge, fat Pirelli street racing tire that’s DOT approved and designed for high speeds for a lot less than a Michelin. Yes, they are great tires…I’m not saying they’re not. I’m not competing or a professional but I can’t see how a Kenda is going to let me down. Several pros have switched to them saying they’re as good as a Michelin. I suppose people just want to say they have Michelins on their bikes as a status symbol. Well, ok then but I’m not going to throw my money away unless Honda wants to buy me my tires like they do for Toni Bou. The Kenda’s are kind of hard to get here in the states. Many places sell them but you have to be fast because they sell out very quickly. I paid $124 with free shipping even.

New (old) guy from Australia.
Hi Ron, I did notice recently that the site was down, I was googling info on my bikes and Trials Central kept coming up. The old bikes are cool, but can be a bit problematic. The Monty is refusing to start at the moment. I’ve got spark, I think I may have some sort of blockage on the carb. I recently pulled the carby off because I left the fuel on overnight and it flooded the cylinder. Now she no go…. More investigation needed. Eagle8, I’m in the Dandenongs. I’m also a member of OMCC, I just joined up actually. I was down there last Sunday. I’ve got a dark blue 105 series Landcruiser, if you see it wander over and introduce yourself. 👍

NEW DUNLOP TL01 REAR TYRE
I rode a trial back in May which was quite muddy and the TL01 did fine - better than I expected. I weigh about 190lbs with gear and usually run 4psi in most rear tires, but 2.0 to 2.5 in the TL01. I think your weight and conditions (wet/dry) will influence how much psi you'd run. The remarkably stiff sidewall makes them a total pain to change, but hopefully they will be less likely to get cut on rocks or other sharp objects. We don't seem to have the old 803s anymore, so it's a choice between this TL01, a $300 Michelin, or an IRC. I bought an IRC recently and it wouldn't hold air. One of my friends had his fall completely off the rim 2 miles from his truck. We should start a new thread on this subject; I'd like to hear others' experience with the IRC.

Hey Mate! Welcome to the refurbished forum. You’re one lucky guy because this forum has been down for two months and we all thought it was a gonner. It’s great that it’s back because there’s an awful lot of experience in these forums. I like your bikes. I have a Gasgas myself. I rode a 1974 Yamaha TY250 A back in the day and absolutely loved it. That was in the mid 70s though. Like you, I’m back to riding after all these years. The kids are gone from us too. I’m in Portland, Oregon by the way. I just turned 65 and I don’t have the invincibility I felt when I was 17 but I’m enjoying myself immensely. Stay safe and have fun! Ron H

Who has tried a soft clutch support ring?
Since shutdown, Hell restocked. Fitted. Did a few trials. Feels like my GG clutch used to. Couldn't be happier about that. Money well spent.

New (old) guy from Australia.
Newby to the Forum, Im 56 yo, I used to ride Motocross and trials here in Victoria, Australia back in the late 80's though to early 2000's. I was younger/fitter then... The kids have grown up and are doing their own thing now so my interest in motorcycles has come back to haunt me after a 20 something year lay-off. Looking forward to chatting. 👍 Current rides.... '14 Gas Gas TXT R 250 '81 Montesa Cota 200.

TRRS ONE RR 80CC 2024
UPDATE #2 Gearing & Mods: While the 12 tooth front sprocket has a lot of benefits it is too tall for some extreme climbs. Turns out the CS splines on this bike & the Beta 80 are identical. I fitted a 10 tooth front & 59 tooth rear in 428 from the Beta along w/126 links of 428 chain. That puts me right in the middle between 9/60, too low & 12/60 too high. Now, first allows me to climb anything slowly, or nearly anything in second very aggressively. Down side is some loss of top speed in high gear & the suspension is back to feeling nearly as harsh & dead as w/the stock 9 tooth. The Betas stock 11 tooth would be an option for a smaller rider & will just fit w/out modifying the rubber guide as necessary to fit the 12. A second small mod was switching from the quick turn throttle tube (white) to the ultra quick throttle assembly (part # 70129) from the Gold. I ordered the throttle assembly only & not the fancy bearing end cap ($) that supports the end of the tube. Instead I used the S3 End-5 bar end set. Since the first 4000 rpms are unusable, making whiskey throttle & herky jerk moves near impossible, this is a further improvement in responsiveness & rideability.

NEW DUNLOP TL01 REAR TYRE
Unfortunately in some countries they're the only tyres Dunlop bring in, here in NZ we have the choice of Michelin or the TL01 unless we can somehow manage to import something else.

1988 TY250 base gasket
My advice would be to buy a genuine YAMAHA gasket 38V-11351-10 . Yes the gasket should have port cut outs so that fuel flows easily up to the top of the piston from the crank case. and to the crank bearings also.

1988 TY250 base gasket
Thanks for getting back, I mean my existing gasket that's on the engine has zero cut outs except for the piston area in the middle, makes me wonder how the gates flow correctly through the ports. Cheers Rob.

Dirty ugly 4RT rebuild.
Here's my assessment of this engine. It's not pretty. Low engine oil (in the engine compartment, not the gearbox, I should clarify, because it's separate on this model). The white timing chain guide is starting to melt in small pieces (which end up in the oil strainer). Engine overheating... blown head gasket... no coolant... burnt oil getting into the cooling system... fantastic! Well, This engine is built like a tank! There is some wear, but frankly, it's very surprising how little there is. The crankshaft bearings have some play, but they don't make any noise. The connecting rod big end has no play at all... but the small end shows significant wear without any material being torn away. The piston pin is still within tolerances. No discoloration from overheating or any apparent defects. The piston is out of order, but without any signs of seizing. The cylinder is good. A quick hone for the occasion, but nothing more. (phew, €€€) The cylinder head needs checking. I have a broken screw in a thread that's causing me a problem. Another used cylinder head is arriving, and I'll take the opportunity to rework the ports because there are some significant steps. Valve stem seals will be replaced, and the valve seats will be checked. The rocker arms are good, the camshaft is perfect, as are its bearings. Considering the conditions this engine has run in, it's a miracle it's not destroyed. The reason? It's an engine derived from a motocross engine, so it's oversized for trials use in many respects. I'm going to rebuild it properly with a new cylinder head, connecting rod, piston, bearings, and gaskets, and that will be a great chapter in this motorcycle's history!
