EM (Electric Motion)

Em pure 2022 What is the button for?

  2. Started by trapezeartist,

Every EM owner will know that the commonest question is "How long does the battery last?" My answer is always the same, based on my personal experience: I usually finish a trial with the meter showing about 70% left. Now 70% at the end of a trial had me a bit perplexed. That is far better than the manufacturer's claimed battery life, and when did you ever find a manufacturer who understates anything?! So yesterday I tried an experiment. I didn't charge the battery before going out for a practice, so I started on 70%. After nearly 3 hours (so slightly less than a normal trial) the battery was down to 15%. I have no complaint because two days riding on a battery seems …

  3. Started by trapezeartist,

I had a really good feel for my old (2021) bike with a 51T sprocket on it. Foolishly I left it on when I changed the bike, thinking it would be easy enough to get another one for my new (2023) bike. It's not. I can't find one anywhere. Does anyone one have one to sell, or know where I could get one? 51T preferred but I would go with 50T or 52T too.

  4. Started by WIX-ONE,

In todays episode of "what's he broke now?" Changed the clutch oil, Drained old out and replaced with 260mm of new but now the clutch doesnt engage at all. Thought it could need bleeding so i first filled from the bleed nipple, then as that didn't work bled all the fluid out and refilled again but still not working and i'm out of ideas? Also what a stupid place to put that bleed nipple, every video I've watched has an easy access one not a stupid angled one.... Also i need to replace the drain plug as the allen thread has rounded, can i get a generic one from anywhere (UK) and what size is it as the parts list doesnt state the size? …

  5. Has anyone ridden the new '23 model back to back with a '22? There's some indication that the maps are significantly improved in terms of how fast the electric motor spins up and spins down. It seems like it may be slower, like they added some virtual rotational mass to the motor via the controller. This review (at minute 11:00) shows what appears to be a slower rev up and spin down of the electric motor, much like what I experience on my Gas Gas: I'm interested what the '23 is like relative to the '22, as I have struggled on my '22 Race with maintaining traction in loose conditions due the motor spinning up and down much more quickly as compared …

  6. Hey guys. My 2021 em escape r has stopped working. Ran it thru a pretty boring run up the mountain, came back down, everything was fine. The next day I go to start it and nothing. The battery engages, lanyard works, head display shows 98% and switching map to green light but their is zero power to the motor. Tried the reset cycle. Nothing. Even went as far as to replace the throttle control with a new domino throttle. Nothing. Has anyone dealt with this problem or does anyone know how the heck to fix this? Checked all connections, battery, fuse and everything's good.

  7. Started by trapezeartist,

I raised this as one of my points on this other thread but it was too many questions at once, and most of it has fallen by the wayside now anyway. So I thought I would address this one question again. My aim is to achieve a little bit of engine braking with the throttle closed, similar to a petrol bike. The Mecatecno I tried had this. Having studied the information on konrad's website, I'm proposing to use the microswitch in the Domino throttle to feed about 1 volt into the PRB connector. I'll use the PRB/FRB Y-piece to actually make the connection at that end, meaning of course that the FRB won't work, but that doesn't matter. To get the 1 volt, I'm hoping to …

Can anyone here elaborate on the operation of the PRBR? Specifically I'm wondering if it could serve as the sole rear brake, my disability makes a right foot brake useless for me. I've found a couple of online reports of experienced riders removing their clutch levers and using the PRBR lever from the non clutch model and in at least one case removing the rear brake pedal. I really can't imagine riding a dirt bike without a clutch but i have no significant experience with electric bikes.

  9. Are there any technical specs on how the EM motor is controlled? Is the throttle just and adjustable resistor? Does that just go to some kind of standard industrial motor controller with programmable parameters? Or is there some type of computer in there as well like similar to a fly by wire gas powered street bike?

  10. Does anyone have a portable generator they use for charging the battery on a electric trials bike Electric Motion or similar. Thinking of buying one to extend time on bike and looking at options. What make & model do you use and are you happy with it. Alternatively have you bought a spare battery.

  11. Started by WIX-ONE,

Me again! Ok todays problem is as follows: Went out riding and after about an hour the bike (Epure race 2021) kept dropping the map intermittently and returning to the clear light. No rhyme or reason to it, sometimes up hill sometimes down. Messed about abit and i could replicate it when the handlebars went full lock either way so faulty wire i thought, easy fix, trace the wire and sort it. Got home, washed the bike, removed the fairing but now no power at all going to the map light (still power to the kill switch). My son has the same bike so i thought i'll try plugging in his map switch/map light but still nothing. Then i tried it with the throttle …

  12. Started by trapezeartist,

I have now been riding an EM for 4 years but there are still things I think could be done better, and I'm wondering if they are possible. I would like to have a little bit of "engine braking" when the throttle is closed. I quite like the idea of the "Finger Throttle" on this page, https://www.electricmotiontech.com/home/em-epure-race/regen-experiments. If I understand correctly, this would be a straight bolt-on if I could get the right finger throttle. It could replace the present PRB-R (2023 bike) and the 0.8 volt would provide the engine braking. Right? I only ever use green and blue maps so I would like to get rid of the red map so that the sequence would b…

  14. Started by al_orange,

I've always loved the thought of an electric trials bike but said that I'd wait until it had a proper clutch. Now, with being on lockdown, I've had a little ride in the garden (on my petrol bike) and it's underlined how awesome it would be to have an electric bike. But, I've got a couple of questions/musings that I wonder if people have experience enough to answer: 1. Gears.. they exist for a reason - before the coronavirus hit, I was doing a fair bit of practice in mud. I learned quite quickly how important it is to use the gears to maintain grip. Using 3rd when I might be in 1st in the dry, and using 4th (with clutch) for big climbs for example. Now, with…

  15. Started by Zack,

So my 22 comp has a clunking sound that is damn hard to track down. I initially thought it was the bolts from the frame dogbone contacting the dogbone off the shock as clearance is minimal and I did see what appeared to be scratches where you would expect them if it was impacting. well facing both bolts didn't resolve the sound. It's almost like a flex sound but nothing is loose, none of plastic is flexing. it mostly happens on the top of the stroke but not always and sometimes it goes away altogether (but comes back after a couple bounces on the pegs... I disconnected the top of the shock, laid below and had a friend go through the stroke. There was no sound or anything …

Has anyone upgraded their pre-2023 ePure with a Domino throttle? Was it easy to install? Any noticeable difference?

  17. Started by chrisexall,

My controller seems to be jammed on the reset function. I've renewed the switch which hasn't cured it. Any ideas what to do next?

  18. Started by PNWer,

I just rode a 2022 (mine) and a 2023 EPure Race back-to-back. The shock on the 2023 seemed a little more active and lively. I'd love to upgrade, but I wanted to start by trying to adjust my shock. Has anyone else played with adjustments on the 2022? Any recommendations? (specifically to try to get closer to the Reiger feel)

Is anyone using S3 Bar Ends on a EPure? I'm trying to figure out which model bar ends to get. #5 or TOO? I guess the question is does the EPure have a closed or open throttle tube?

Lots of metal flake in the oil and magnetic drain plug got a ball of the stuff on it, never seen anything that intense. Anyone done first oil change yet and had it look better?
