Hello My 74ty 250 starts fine and will run for 10 minutes or so ok then when the throttle is opened it stalls like getting no fuel. Carb out and cleaned several times. Today it seemed to recover for a few moments when I pressed the choke. Vent pipe is not blocked New points and condensers, new crank seal on that one side only, must do clutch side next. Whats left ,carb rubbers or gaskets, reeds Had anyone this issue before.

I have a 74 TY 250 that doesn't have a headlight/engine kill switch on it. Therefore, I do not have a working headlight or tail light. Does anybody here know where I can locate a combo switch or if one from a different model of yamaha will work on it? Thanks, Doug

Perhaps someone could explain the science behind an airbox, and why a simple air filter isn't adequate enough. I have a 76 TY175 and have read on the forums here that the stock airbox does not provide adequate flow and should be "opened up". After taking a close look at my airbox I agree it could benefit from some extra venting but am considering removing it all together in exchange with a filter - no box at all. As this seems all to simple I pause to wonder why it isn't more common place? Is there some science involved with the airbox or what?? Thanks from a newbie!

Hello, Did my first trial in almost a year at the weekend and really enjoyed it ... my TY is spot on, aside from one annoying characteristic - it is light on the front and tends to rear up on hill climbs etc. I fitted the twinshock shop triple clamp which helped a bit, as did raising the bars 20mm ........ Not mad keen on doing the swing arm extension modification. Any other tricks to overcome this? I tried my Mates Bultaco, and that felt really planted and only raised the wheel when it was intended. I have put quite a bit of effort into getting the bike right, but this fault really has me thinking that I need a different bike. cheers Andrew

Just about to send off my cylinder to Millenium Technologies for re-work. Trying to source a new upper end con rod bearing for the 74 TY 250 A. I have sources for everything else. The part number listed in the factory documentation says it is 93310-21854 But the one I found at Yamaha Partshouse (Babbits) was listed as 93310-218A6-00 . Don't know if this is the same part or if someone has a cross reference list somewhere? Or if there is a NOS part still in the wrapper that someone is willing to part with? Just trying to avoid a SNAFU at the time when everything goes back together. The old bearing was missing a roller when I took it out of the engine.

Hello I have a TY175 twinshock with standard forks and am looking at moving up to something a bit better. I know I can go to the TY250 forks but I was wondering if anyone else had gone a step further with modern forks from say a Gas Gas or similar. I've read that 38mm is popular? Any suggestions or experiences? What bike could I take them from TY250 FORKS A bit better Using standard TY175 wheel brakes etc MODERN FORKS A lot better Do I use the whole front end inc wheel etc or just the forks and yokes If using the TY175 wheel, do i have to have a new spindle made? I need to retain the basic look and the drum brake of course Thanks for any help Owen

Has anyone eny experience of the aftermarket disc brake kit sold for the TY monos - the one which uses the original drum braked forks? It appears to be a Grimerca or Brembo Calliper & Grimerca master cylinder. Is the brake any better than the original drum and is the set-up any lighter? Gordon
