Hi Folks, this is probably rudimentary for some of you, but I just want to get it right. Bought a new PBI dished rear sprocket (428x55T) and replacing what was on the bike (flat with no spacer, 428x52T) as it came to me. So when installed, teeth are dished away or outward from (to the left) the wheel correct? Chain alignment looks straight to me this way. Searched the original manual and could not get a good visual or printed verification from it. BTW replacing 14/52 with a 13/55 and new chain setup. Will be used mainly for vintage trials and general plonking. Thanks in advance.

I have been wanting a TY250A for ever. Ever since I worked at a Yamaha shop when I was 16 at the parts counter in 1974. I finally picked up a clean TY250A. Got a great deal on it too. I have been restoring it over the last two weeks and have gotton it almost perfect. I wish I knew how to post pics or I would!

  7. Guys- This is not really specific to the TY 250, but hopefully nobody will kick me off of here for asking a non- trials question? I started exploring the riding areas around here and realized very soon that I had no safety gear that would help anything if I (fill in the blank!) I went riding and the area was remote and getting remoter as each mile went by. But the road was just a bit boring for me and I took off on a path maybe 4 ft wide. It went on for miles and was slowly climbing the side of a 5000 foot mountain, so it got rockier and steeper as it progressed. I had gone thru several open gates and there was no one on this trail except yours trul…

Hello, to all. After 30+ years of mx just got my first trials bike. '85 TY350 and hoping I could get some help/advice. Rode it around in backyard today and wow, felt like fish out of water, but this is going to be fun. Any drills you could recommend to help ? Also as I run Maxima 927 @ 40:1 with 50/50 race/pump gas mix in my vintage race bikes ( '77 Montesa VB360 and '80 YZ465 ) will this work for the TY ? Sure I'll have many more questions, thanks for your help in advance

Can anyone offer me advice on myTY 250 Mono 1986. It keeps fouling plugs. When I remove the plug it is dry but with thick black deposits. The bike runs well for a time but after about every 4 hours the plug is fouledand needs replacement. Is this an ignition ot carb issue? Any advice gratefully received.

Morning all. I have a 1977 TY50 which I am sorting out for the kids to start riding on. I am quite an experienced mechanic but the front fork on this bike have me a bit baffled. I want to change the fork seals but cant figure out how to split the fork, as there is no bolt on the bottom of the fork leg and I cant believe that the only thing stopping the forks coming apart is the circlip above the seals. any help would be muchly appreciated!! thanks all.

I have got to prepare my 250 majesty for a friend to ride in a trial, I have not used it seriously for about 10 years. I cannot remember the oil volume or viscosity/type for the gearbox/clutch or the forks. Please can anyone help, with regard to the forks they are standard Yamaha and if you give an answer I would be interested in the weight of rider. Thanks
