Hi all, I realise that this is not strictly trials related, but if I get it resolved then we may have another member of the trials riding fraternity!! I have acquired a PW50 which is old but essentially in pretty good nick. It was left standing for some time and no longer runs. I have flushed the tank, cleaned out the carb - which had filled with 'varnish' like old petrol deposits. Jets were partially obscured but have cleaned and blown through and all appear ok now. Electrics - there appears to be a spark but not a big fat one. Does anyone have any info on testing the electrics / coils on these things? Having 'googled' the issue I have tried disconecting the handle…

  5. I have a 74 TY 250 that doesn't have a headlight/engine kill switch on it. Therefore, I do not have a working headlight or tail light. Does anybody here know where I can locate a combo switch or if one from a different model of yamaha will work on it? Thanks, Doug

Does anyone know of any other rear wheel spindle that will fit a godden swing arm, as the Yamaha TY250 spindle is smaller that the slot in the swing arm and has to be bushed to fit the slot as per TY250. The bushes on my bike are knackered and are no longer available from Yamaha. I believe that there is a more modern alternative, bit cant find out what. Thanks in advance. Ps I want to use the origional ty wheel and hub.

Hi there I have a 175 and one of the flywheel magnets has broken This might be a stupid question but does it need 4 magnets or would 2 opposite be ok if they were by the coil when it needs to spark or is there anywhere i can get a magnet from.

  19. Started by tt5th,

I'm shortly getting the top end done on my TY 250 Mono. Its currently on a .25 oversize piston and I've had two opinions on where to go next. One guy reckoned moving up to a .50 would be fine but another said I would need to go to at least .75 to make sure it was over any previous wear. Does anyone have experience or any recommendations they would like to share? Ta.

Has anyone modded the rear brake lever on their TY mono to make it more accessible? I never noticed how tucked away it is until I started riding a Montesa as well. Was thinking of cutting it and welding on a piece of metal or something from another brake pedal to extend it out half an inch or so. What do you reckon?
