Hi, I am rebuilding a MontesaCota 350 and have a problem getting the primary drive gear off the crank...it simply wont come off. The nut on the weighted flywheel seemed to be overtightened and now the gear is a bear to deal with. I have messed up a brand new extractor...any ideas??

Just started to build a 175 Majesty using a godden frame. The 175 motor slots straight in but the head stock is a different size to the standard 175 frame. Anybody know what bearings would fit to enable me to use the standard 175 front end? Open to any ideas on the solution, plus suggestions on exhaust systems. Thanks

Just bought a 320 Trial Armstrong to hopefully restore, depending on the amount of work thats required. The forks need replacing or recromed, theres some problem in the gear box and not sure theres a spark and somethings a miss with the back brake plate. Its got what looks like a fantic one on there, but no slot on the swinging arm for the retaining pin, is this the wrong type off brake plate? So depending what i find in the gear box, the faults should not be two much of a problem hopefully. Other than that the bikes in not in to bad a condition. Its got a (Sammy Miller) Hiro engine and white frame with a square section . Just read the frame number but forgotten it by…

Hi there just bought a "Wassell" rolling chassis but seems more like a Dalesman. It has a very close almost parallel duplex frame with rails under the engine. It has Puch wheels.Looks like MP forks (with bolt-on 'ears' for lockstops). I have a Puch M125 engine for it. My questions are: What's the difference between a Wassell and a Dalesman? Where on the net can you find info on these bikes, can't find much at all.Any help is much appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read this. Mine looks closest to this one: Cheers Loydee

I've had enough !!!. I have finally got mad enough to remanufacture fibre-glass airboxes for the TR-80 250 and 350. A local fairing maker can run them off, but the cost of the initial mould is quite high. If we can order say 10 at the same time, it makes it much cheaper. At the moment,

  12. I just took a very old front trials tyre off a recently acquired M49 Sherpa and thought it felt a bit heavy. It is a Firestone made in Spain with vee pattern blocks and is worn down to about 3mm block height. The worn out old Firestone weighs 4765 grams while the slightly worn 2003 tube-type Michelin that went onto the bike weighs 3506 grams. For non-metric people that is a weight difference of more than 2.5 pounds. I hate to think what an unworn Firestone would weigh. The sidewall of the Firestone has a little brag label saying "gum dipped" which I guess was a pretty cool thing at the time. I can't bear to throw it away as it is a terrific reminder of how much tyres …

I've got an Armstrong CMT310 with the HIRO engine. I bought a photocopied manual from Sammy Miller which is little more than useless, I was expecting a proper workshop manual with technical info. The bike starts from cold after a few kicks and will tick over etc and starts first kick when warm, but seems to have very little compression for a 310cc single- I can turn the engine over by spinning the flywheel with my hand- surely that can't be right? I understand the spares situation for these engines is fairly hopeless. Has anyone else overcome this situation? Is there a piston that will fit from another engine? Does the cylinder have a steel liner insert or is it a pla…

Getting bored of your 340????.........well why not try this 1980's French trike conversion kit Uses different triple clamp's and a swingarm with rear axle set up that can be swapped onto the bike with no other alterations. I have seen a photo of the kit on a Gori trialer and within the last few weeks have been contacted buy a guy in Germany who has just converted a SWM trike back to solo. He is interested in selling the trike kit, if anyone fancys a challenge drop me a pm. Martin

A freind of mine brought his two SWM's to my house the other night to see what I could do with them. one is a 81 240 (black framed) in box's and peices. The other one is a 82 240 ( blue frame no rear loop) that rolls on it's wheels but alot of bits to it in a box too. So after a note to MartinM to see what the correct plug should be ,I cleaned the tank and carb , dropped in a new plug and some good fuel and the 82 ran on its own ! I just had to try it out ... And I have to ask those that may know , is the 240 fantic a whole lot more powerful than these or do I just have alot more work ahead of me ! Now that the 82 does run at least , it gets remanufactured ,The bike is s…
