Have just been looking on www.inmotiontrials.com and see they now have in stock original style white front mudguards for montesa twinshocks with the 'M' logo on. I don't own a montesa but i know these have not been available for YEARS!

Can anyone help ? I`m trying to trace the history of a bike I`ve had for decades. Heres what I know... Its a Suzuki 80. K10 ( modified) Reg`d 06 Jan 1966 in N.Ireland ( 7051OZ ) Frame No. K10175176 Engine No. K10180612 Heres what I think... it was one of three bikes modified by Suzuki for the 1965 IOM ISDT, ridden by Don Barrett, John Harris , or Stan Miller. I could be completely wrong, as I also heard it may have been ridden by a guy called Dave Andrews, who won a bronze award at the same event. I have loads of pics I can e-mail to anyone who thinks they might know someth…

Hi, Will ask if any of you know if LB30-35 springs for Betor shocks are available, progressive like LB40-50. Have sent a question John Cane..who offered shocks bargin last year (~1500g lighter than Girling pair) seems to work ok as new. Let say Betor work/refilled ok for 2-3 seasons then it might be motivated to order Falcon ally and cut an other 1000g.. Special order from spring suppliers is always an option....:-) Cheers,

The rear shocks on my Fantic FM350 have lost all their damping but the springs seem OK. Do I attempt to rebuild or replace? What suppliers are there in the UK and how much should I expect to pay? Thanks.

I put my 349 away a year or so ago after hearing what I thought was rumbling main bearings. It joined the queue behind some others I was restoring. Having got down to it now I've found that the crank is showing evidence of a crack lengthways and inquiries reveal that this a weak spot on these motors. Evidently some shear off but this one hasn't yet. Can anyone comment on getting them repaired? SEP in Kegworth have said they will look at it.

The front brake on my recently acquired TY 175 is beyond poor, even for a "modern" drum, much worse than I recall from the day. All seems OK with plenty of meat on the shoes and careful setting up but I'm going to try new shoes. Does peoples' experience with drums generally show that one make is better than another and, if so, which is the best one? Thanks

A chance for all of you with twinshock and Pre65 machines currently languishing in sheds, gardens and garages to get them out (ooer missus) and give them an outing in the Classic Experts run by the Rhayader Club. A good traditional trial with roadwork around the beautiful Rhayader countryside which has some of the best trials terrain to be found. Two routes, Expert/Clubman, so something for everyone, with sections comprising streams, roots, banks, gulleys etc. Organised by the enthusiastic Malcolm and Anne Bates, the trial desrerves to be well supported so dig out those old bikes and use them for what their creators intended. Regs details should be in TMX - secretary i…

Yesterday I managed to road register my Majesty 175 Yamaha Twinshock. It's a 1982 model and when I bought it last year, it was unregistered. This year I decided to embark on getting it done on an 'age related' UK 'X' plate. It has been pretty simple really............ Firstly I spoke to John Shirt jnr @ Gas Gas UK, whose father created the Godden framed Majesty (which my model is) and he arranged for his father to send me a 'dating certificate' for the bike from their records, confirming the year of manufacture as Jan 1982. This was a great help. Next .........I did a bit of work to get it to MOT standard on the brakes(bearings were ok and so were forks/shocks) and f…
