Is there a proper way to adjust the internal clutch mechanism on a '76 KT 250? I am in the process of rebuilding one and want to make sure it is properly adjusted.

Hi there, I've just bought a 1978 ty175 "project" to restore and eventually ride here in NZ. It's had a hard life, with many parts flogged out (swingarm bushes, wobbly gear selector shaft, stuffed chain & sprockets, wobbly steering head bearings to name a few) but a sound engine. Anyway, there's a rear sprocket for sale on here (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=148004261) that has 54 teeth, while the sprocket on the bike now has 47 teeth. Would a 54 tooth sprocket be suitable? Presumably it will simply lower all the gearing. The sprocket suits a 428 size chain. Thanks in advance of many more questions .... Ade.

To finish my rebuild i need the 2 thrust washers that sit behind the clutch basket. I have contacted BVM in Stroud but the parts have come up as NLA. I do not have the originals so can some one tell me the dimensions of these 2 washers? Cheers John

Hi Hopefully someone can help ! I have a Montesa 172 which the restoration is about complete, however I have a problem with gear selection (goes into first but nothing else), and what appears a very heavy clutch. What I am after is if anyone knows of a good engine/gearbox rebuild shop (or individual !) in the North of England where I could take the bike to (I need to take the complete bike so it can be checked running). Ive googled and there a few specialist twinshock shops, but a long way away from me ! cheers and thanks for looking John

Over the past few months I've dropped an XL185 motor in aTL125. Seemed fine on the first test run. Not so happy first and second gear don't always seem to engage when the engine is running, seems to engage but when the clutch is let out nothing - no drive? Third gear is fine and the engine seem to pull very well. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

The manual says to torque the cylinder nuts on a Cota 348 from 14.5 to 18 ft lbs. My torque wrench starts at 20 ft lbs. Don't really want to have to buy another torque wrench [ another $50 ] ......... what do you guys do? Calculated *guess* when tightening? The cylinder head will be torqued 22 to 25 ft lbs, so I'm OK there.......

Have just been looking on www.inmotiontrials.com and see they now have in stock original style white front mudguards for montesa twinshocks with the 'M' logo on. I don't own a montesa but i know these have not been available for YEARS!
