Pre-65 Bikes

  1. Started by hendrik,

I'm interested in this B40 : http://hosbond.dk/bil-detaljer?bil=292201346# The seller told me that it is no ex army bike, but as I know all "WD" are sold as army bikes, I cannot found informations about a normal B4 version build 1968.... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/193/82666429.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/9/23403206.jpg/ What a bike is it ? It's a good basic for trial modifikation ? The price is good for german conditions.... so I place the topic not in our forum....

Hi as the title says i would like to change my brake pedal from the current LHS to the RHS on my FB. My other bike is RHS brake and i feel much more comfortable and balanced this way. so im planning on running a cable through from the RHS to get back to the LHS to operate it. Theres a picture of Norman Shepherd on the yorkshire site members photo and he has this setup, but i just wondered what the setup was like on the opposite side of the bike. the plan is to maybe weld a block on LHS at rear, tap it, and then use a cable stop adjuster like you get in the universal clutch/brake cable kits. Anyone have any ideas or guidance what to do or more importantly not to do? t…

Any one know a supplier for gaitors for standard B40 WD forks ? Top opening 57mm bottom 50mm approx by 250mm long approx. Also are there any trials springs available, probably not as fewer and fewer are using standard forks. Thanks Ross

Has anyone tried one of these new carbs from AMAL yet, if so how do they perform? I need to get a carb sorted for the new Ariel 500cc short stroke project and was wondering whether to go with one of these rather then spend ages tweaking a Villiers. If anyone has tried one of these on an Ariel, any chance you could let me know the jetting? Thanks all

Those who know me fairly well know I have a thing about older Italian bikes especially the lightweights in addition to my thing about Spanish strokers. Looking for inspiration to get back into my 55 Morini 175 project I discovered these beauties. Most of course fairly "developed" This one I may have seen before Is it just me that likes this stuff here?

Hi all, I'm about ready to embark on my bantam trials machine. I've had her tucked away in the garage a good few years now. Someone has had a go at her before but a bit cowboy'esque !! She has what I believe are Montesa adjustable damping forks and wheel set up. With (somewhere) the swing arm and adapters to fit this also. But it doesn't seem entirely British, I'm all for using what works the best but I think I would like to keep it at least looking like it could have come out of the BSA factory. So then questions....heaps of them if anyone could help. Just a few for now: - Where do I start with frame mods, lifting the reas sub doesn't seam too difficult but I'm conce…

I need to partly strip a 1963 Distributor C15 engine to check it over , it will be built as a std 250, as soft as possible . I am not up to speed on these only in gaining info in threads I have seen recently. Are there any weak areas to check, I am hoping to get away with top end strip for now , any thing else to check?/ It will be a long term project, just as long as the motor is sound. It kicks over with good compression, supposedly a runner a few years ago. Thanks in advance

BP4ES plugs are hard to come by (unless you know differently)so I was using a Champion N16Y which is the equivalent. Now they seem to be in short supply but I can get N16YC. The question is, although I know the C stands for copper, does it make any difference ? Thanks Ross
