Hi all, Having managed to oil up NGK B6HS at a rate of roughly 1 per trial, would it do any harm trying a slightly hotter NGK B5HS? I won't be riding the bike on the road! Does anyone else use these in their Cub? Bruce.

As per the title really,in my quest for gradual improvement of my HT5 the forks are going to get bodged... They are pretty shot really, but I'm not interested in fitting modern internals etc,I just want to get the best out of the standard setup for now.I dont want to take it to bits as it just wont get put back together, there is too much else in my workshop thats in front of it.

A common mod on the Bantam is to fit a crank weight usually brass, I am going to build a B175 engine which apparently has a heavier crank, does anyone know if, a. the weight is needed / used and b. who makes the weights. Thanks.

Earlier this summer, rode my HT up to Solihull British Legion where I play snooker and meet my mates, when an old chap who I`ve often said hello to but never really spoke to showed an interest in my bike. Turns out he rode in ISDT`s on Triumphs in early 60`s( Wales and Garmisch) and rode works James ( I think) at some stage. He said he rode sleeved down 175 Cubs in ISDTs amongst other things, and since then I`ve done some work at his house, where he took me to his garage and showed me a pretty impressive large cardboard box of trials/scrambles trophys from 50s/60s. He`s early 80s now but still fit and well and wonder if any old friends/foes are on here?

I just got my spare Cub frame from the attic to fit some strengthening plates. Before I do, is there a recognised way to steepen the steering head angle and is this a worthwhile mod? Cutting the head casting looks a bit dodgy but extending the top tube and/or shortening the down tube looks possible. Although I wouldn't have a clue by how much! I know I've got it up for sale but I find it hard to resist building things in the shed and feel another project comming on!

Hi my Francis Barnet build is coming along now but just having an issue finding a diagram for the albion gearbox. The engine was rebuilt prior to me buying it but there seems to be a few bits missing from the gearbox Does anyone have a exploded view or know where I could get one to identify the parts that are missing? Thanks

Hi Guy's. I see that Woody has his C15 for sale on e-Bay. This bike has the power in a C15 that everyone is looking for, I am currently trying to build an engine that is simular. It is a shame, I have now got most of the parts together! Or I would be bidding on Woody's bike. So if you are intrested in a bike that wins trials! I would take a look at this before it is to late? You only have four days. Regards Charlie.

Hi all, Despite new oil pump / parts (design 1939...) Do need a "oil tap" or keep draining ~250ml before each ride.. Will kindly ask if you might have idea where to search for a tap hose/hose joint not restricting the oil flow...as tiny tap as possible, to be fitted close to the oil tank... Or I have to reweld a tap joint at the bottom of the oil tank... The "output" hose is hidden betwen the engine/gearbox... Father did assemble a rather big tap on his Pre-unit Triumph...where a lot of space is available.. Cheers,

Hi, Does anyone have any info on suitable mods to improve the 175 Bant power with revised port timing. Im from a road racing background but after a quick look, it seems to me the transfer timing is quite short on the standard barrel, particularly for a trials engine. Any ideas folks?

Hi Guy's Just about to mount a PVL ignition stator to my Cub crankcases. Now I have thought of several ways to mount the stator including a plate between the chaincase joints etc. But have come back to the conventional pole or stud (BSA) set up. Now do you think, it is better to mount the crankcase on a rotary table, on a milling machine, and scribe a 81mm circle (pitch Cirle diameter), then spot machine three pads, and then machine and tap three alloy or steel poles, then drill and thread the crankcases to exept these poles, then machine them level to exept the PVL stator plate. Or should you make up three poles and drill and countersink the crankcase from inside an…
