RRND are running the August round of the South Coast Group Championshipts at Beare Green, Surrey on Sunday 14th August. Unfortunately this coincides with the 'London-Surrey Cycle Classic' event which is going to cause road closures and severe disruption around Dorking. These closures will not impact the trial venue directly, but if any riders are intending to travel from north of Dorking, or via the A25 then they should plan an alternative route. We have been warned that traffic is likely to be very heavy on all surrounding roads from early on Sunday morning. Just as a reminder the venue is at Beare Green, near Ockley and will be signposted from the A29. Directions: If…

A team of helpers from RRND were at the Ockley last night, clearing undergrowth and fallen trees from this pleasant wooded venue, which features a stream running throughout its length. There is more water in the stream than we normally see at this time of the year, and as all the sections are in and around the stream it is probably worth wearing waterproof socks this Sunday if you are planning to ride! The team managed to clear numerous fallen trees, debris and undergrowth from the stream and some new sections were uncovered as a result. We have have pencilled in 12 sections which should be different to those used last year and the plan is to run the sections over the…

This year the SCRMC is running a round of the SACU support championship(Youth,pre-65/twinshock and Over 40) at Cold Chapel farm,Abington on sunday 20th June. We usually run this trial at Balfron but feel this venue suits it better, more parking and a longer lap with a variety of sections. I have sent regs out to a lot of last years entries from Balfron and Abington but if I have missed you out the forms can be downloaded from Trials Central or mail me and I will send you a form. We are also having a club trial on saturday afternoon, enter on the day, with a smaller lap and different sections fron sunday. Camping is available at the venue but no food or water, bring your o…

The next round of the SACU Adult and Clubman championship will be held at Craiglash Quarry Hill, West of Banchory, Aberdeenshire just off the North Deeside Road on the 14th of September. This is a great venue with a decent lap and some very nice sections. In an attempt to increase the turn out of riders the clubman route (basically the B route) will be tamed to ensure all who turn up can have a good ridable day. Anyone who is not riding the Adult championships is eligable to rider the clubman route. Come along and help support the club and Scottish trials in general. Regs are availble on the Bon Accord Motorcycle Club website. www.bamcc.co.uk Get you entry in soon so th…

Its all change for the Sam Cooper Union Jack trial on May 29th, round 3 of the Sammy Miller series. In come 7 new groups , Ians Bank, Brundells, Gadsbys Bank, Shenborough Quarry ,Saddlers, Top Farm and Top of the World in an extended ride round the Cotswold lanes above picturesque Broadway. Shenborough a disused Cotswold Quarry but devoid of big rock steps while Saddlers has long stream bed, unused for 5 years will be the venue for the trials special test to decide tiebreaks. There are 3 routes , Experts , Clubmen and sidecars with the rigid solos having the option to tackle the clubman or sidecar deviations. South Birmingham MCC are hosting the next round of the Sammy Miller series on the Clee Hill on 23 October. This location offers a good variety of sections including Groups such as Bedlam and Park Lane, natural rocky streams that were used when the Greensmith ran as a full British Championship trial back in the twinshock days (although the Miller round isn't as hard as the trial was back then...) A central location means travel from most parts of the country is reasonable. There are the usual 2 routes with roadwork linking up the groups, for what will be an excellent days sport for twinshock and pre65 competitors, solo and sidecar. The Miller series offers a reasonably…

I entered my first "Sammy Miller" round last weekend down in Devon, a 500mile round trip. It was a bit of a baptism of fire as have never encountered such slippery, claggy mud and much respect to the guys who went round for low scores as I really struggled to find grip. I understand the club couldn't use their usual "Vic Ashford" trial sections but I really was disappointed with the continuous muddy going. The trial ended with just one section in a clear rocky stream..heaven! Is this typical of a West Country trial or was I just unlucky with the timing and weather? The organisation, scenery and friendliness were first class and would love to return.. a highlight bein…
