I got my DVD of the TY 80 Nationals from www.rypusa.com This is really a good DVD. 4 top riders competing on a 1976 TY 80 for cash and trophy girls. The best part is all of the money raised from the DVD goes directly to the USA TDN fund. The riders are Cody Webb, Ryan Young Chase Harker and Deigo. The DVD started out slow but then the competition get pretty serious. These guys flip the bike around like no problem. I used to ride at TY 80 when I was I a kid. I just found out I did not use the bike to the full potential. This bike gets bottomed out more than you could imagine. Im surprised the bike still runs. I heard they have sold over 100 DVDs, so you know it has t…

Been reading about the "Past Masters" trial at Hawkstone. What a neat idea. Wish someone (how about it Dan Brown & TTC) would put together something similiar here in the states at a National. Of course that begs the questions: Who would be invited, who would actually ride, who would win, what brands would they ride, would they ride bikes similiar to what they rode then or on new ones, would there be any interest?

At the NATC meeting, it was decided that the AMA and NATC would encourage clubs in each region of the country to organize a regional championship series. The Mid East Regional Championships have been established as a part of that effort for NATC/AMA regional series championships and maybe we're the first to get (somewhat) organized! The Mid-East series is hosted by Florida Trials Association (FTA), Southeastern Trials Riders Association (STRA), and Trials, Inc. TI of the midwest with the events as follows: March 3/4 Fun-n-Sun Trial, FTA, Ocala, FL April 28/29 Spring Splash, STRA, Sequatchie, TN Sept. 1/2 Dixie Cup, TI, Carrolton, KY Each event includes 2 rounds on a …

As a minder for the US team this year, just wanted to give info on what went on, it was a real dissapointment. The team was signed up to ride in the A class. The reason was the TDN has eased up in severity of the sections since 00, last year in Italy was just way easy in B, and with Geoff at his very best, same with Cody, Chris, and Ray, the thought was this was the time to do it. While walking the sections Friday, the first group of six were just insane, dangerous looking, jagged edged type blasts with virtually no run at that even Raga and Lampkin were complaining about, so the team dropped back to B, a very wise decision, as Vesty told us later, all the teams except …

Happy New Year! Here is one new years resolution for the US Motorcycle Trials Association members (and you should be one): we need to get to work on the committees for competition rules and club resources! The competition rules committee will include rules for scoring and section marking for a competition event for clubs, which will be submitted to the AMA for approval and inclusion in the AMA rulebook. This committee (or perhaps a subcommittee of it) should also develop guidelines for defining names and skill levels for classes (as is done with enduros & other forms of motorcycle competition) that can serve as a suggested standard for individual clubs. We should …
