The Florida Trials Association's FIS is 1 month away and we are preparing to have an excellent event for our traveling and local friends! There will be primitive camping on the site and Ryan Young has committed to being there with his rigs and bevy of riders. There won't be a food concession, but in Webster Marc Waller's family has a restaurant in town called the Hayseed Caf

Picked up the rebuilt engine for the TY175 Friday evening. Got it installed and running by Saturday afternoon. We've got a CAT trials scheduled for Feb 8th, so I've got one weekend to get some practice in. Sure feels good to be riding a trials bike again, even if it is an older machine.

FWIW, The rest of the us in under winter watch and snow. We're perparing for our first round of the Tx state series. Gary Jackson memorial 2-day as it's billed. Great piece of property about 2 hours south of dallas and 2 north of Houston in Centerville Tx. Dirt ravines and creek beds with a few rocky sections. Gonna be a great event and a good time for your northerners to get some practice with no snow. If it rains it'll be a little messey ,but that is trials. Hi all, lots going on at TTC these days. Tommi Ahvala is here for about a week between shows, he's been out practicing with Ray Peters & Chris Florin and David Chavez. Quite the show. Today it was sunny and 50-something and all these guys are going at it, just another day in trials heaven (sorry to you guys & gals up north). Also note: 1 GasGas, 1 Beta, 1 Montesa, 1 Sherco. I didn't find out who has to buy ice cream tonight, but it usually isn't Tommi. A couple different trials training sessions going on this weekend, and a crew from 2-wheel-Tuesday on Speed is finally coming up to film a segment. Don't know if Greg White will come, but I hope we'll get so…

ESPN Sports Center is running a clip today of the final race of the Koblenz Indoor trial. It is shown during the last 10 minutes of the program in a feature called Top 10 Plays of the Week. It is only about 20 seconds long, but making it onto Sports Center is a big deal for our sport. It is on at 5 pm and 10 pm. Check you local listings. Martin Belair US Montesa

I was just curious, with land use rights diminishing due to sprawl and environmentalist, have clubs considered purchasin land? Do any of your clubs own their own land for riding? What kinds of problems are incurred in a club owning property i.e. taxes, insurance, liability etc?

29 December 2003 This is a diary to share what goes on with the hosting of an event. It may be silly to some, stupid to some, and interesting, entertaining or comical to others. Probably a little bit of each to most readers. My thoughts with doing this are that it should provide some insights for others that are potentially looking at being promoters. I also hope that it will let some of the more seasoned promoters see the mistakes I am about to make, and hopefully lend a kind bit of advice. The third goal would be that hopefully some of the folks that just ride, and never are the promoter, will read along and appreciate what the folks putting these things on go thr…

OK, this is aimed at the older guys who formed a club, or participated in the formation of a club, and developed it until it is now an "established" well organized self sustaining club. I have seen many groups (outside Trials) get going with one dynamic individual, but when that "spark plug" leaves, the clubs tend to die down and quit. What is the difference between them and the clubs that keep on going like NETA, STRA, ATA etc. etc.???? And anyones input is appreciated, but I am really looking for that first hand experience. And honestly, I am not sure that it matters if it is a "Trials" club. I think there are many correlations between clubs of all sorts that can b…

Well, as things are so exciting here where I am I was wandering around a bit, and read Ron Milam's excellent suspension set up articles on the front page. For those of you that know me a bit, you know that Doug has decided that I cannot measure (maybe he thinks I exagerate a touch) worth a flip so we came up with the "Dwight" system of measurement. Dwight is one of our good natured riding buddies by the way, and I now must use Dwight as the standard of measuring heights of obstacles, and on occasion we use Dean my 7 year old, so now hills are described as being "one Dwight high" or maybe "one Dwight and a Dean" Well, I thought this was rather hilarious and funny till …

Any results, or are you all still falling over it pub?

  20. Started by bikespace,

I like to have a look round other peoples homepages from time to time. I was looking through your results and I noticed that your scoring seems to be in the format 5/0 for each lap. How does this work? Presumably the first mark is actual marks lost, but I couldn't work out the second digit. The results I am talking about are at: http://www.observedtrials.com/Cota%20Resul...2003-tussel.htm Just wondering. Cheers, Bikespace P.S. How have you got the results out for November 2004 already. Is it rigged?
