Classic Trials

By request as it covers too many of the other forums

This is the video I shot at the vintage trials in Eastern Oregon yesterday. I suspect the landscape is a little different that our European friends encounter. There is deep sand and when there isn't sand there is deep powdery dirt. I only ride about two trials a year so I get rusty over the winter. At least that's the excuse I'm going with. That and I'm getting older (yesterday was my birthday) and I had no intention of getting too hurt, which is a why I skipped that one section. I was going to post this in the Trials Video section but I thought the classic people would appreciate it more.

Can anyone point me in the direction of any spectator information prior to me heading to Scotland on Thursday? I'm particularly interested in watching pipeline and wonder which day they are doing it and what sort of time the riders might start arriving. Thanks.

Does anyone know if there is a database or will records have been kept of either a bikes registration number or frame number of it's competition entry history? I have a 1958 Cub which I inherited from my dad, I believe it may have been ridden in the Travers and Scottish.

I hope I have not irritated anyone with this title. Allow me to explain. I was a trials competitor many years ago (1972-1980) and had many good bikes, mainly Montesa. I am also a metal fabricator and engineer. I am also legally blind. Because I can not longer drive, I get around on foot and that is a drag. So, finding myself with two 1000 watt electric wheel motors, a pile of Lithium batteries and some time on my hands, I thought to build some electric transportation. Since much of my area is over rough patches (like going over RR tracks at non-crossing locals) and my eye sight being limited, I thought the best "bike" would be a trials type bike. I would li…

Lately there is some controversy because of a new rule in italy that accepts doing a loop inside the sections and crossing its own track. FIM has a rule that says it is a 5 if: - "The motorcycle does a complete loop, crossing its own track with both wheels. And in the Spanish RFME there is one much similar that says it is a 5 if: - "The motorcycle does a complete loop, crossing its own track with any of the wheels". While in the ACU the rule for a five is: - Travelling in a forward direction against the direction of the section". Both in TRS22A Stop and TRS22B Non-stop. In my opinion this "loop" rule is absolutely confusing and if you move and …

  15. Hello All, I've recently acquired a James Cotswold Scrambler which was raced in Southern California in the late 50's. The engine is a 7e Villiers unit and is missing most of the clutch side components. I was wondering what the best options are for a clutch in a trials conversion. I have seen the 9E multi plate used with slight modification and have even heard of a modern alternative. I look forward to your thoughts. Cheers, Ben

Hi , I have got a contact with a guy who has 4 bikes for sale , 3 of which are DOT bikes, now I know nothing about them and have sketchy info . He says one is a Samba that was only made for a year and another has Banana forks . So the question is are they desirable to trials riders and are they reliable for road users as I may wont one for road use . Thanks for any help in advance . Cheers Allan .
