I’m noodling around with potentially switching my 2021 4RT to a new 2022 Evo Factory 200. Only ride 1-2 times a month in club trials. What I love about the Montesa is the reliability, build quality, ease (except oil filter change…) of routine maintenance and (of course) the sound at full bore. And hard to stall in sections at 1800rpm tickover. The other big (big) selling point is the resale on the 4RT. I had my last one for 5 years and literally sold it for £1500 less than I paid for it new. The weight doesn’t bother me either as it’s really planted and I’m not bouncing the thing around or anything!! Onto the Beta. I love the look and style. But will it dis…

The new bike has suddenly learned a new trick popping out of first and second gear into neutral. Not real happy about this. Guess I’ll be looking into the shifter mechanism now.

Hello, I'm new to Trials Central and this is my first post... I decided to have a go at trials, bought a 2013 EVO 300 2T and have downloaded all the manuals and info I could find. I spent a couple of seasons club racing short circuits and built my own 750 Yamahas, so I'm reasonably confident on the tools but specs/settings supplied by Beta seem a bit sketchy compared to what I'm used to from Yamaha. I'm about 14 stone suited and booted and have bought a pair of 10% uprated springs to fit. For the fork, the owners manual says "Note : For screw A (triple tree clamps): torque wrench setting 7,8 : 9,1 Nm" but gives no torque info for the caps or anything else; …

What probably follows is rant on repairability of stuff in general .... Beta Evo 80 jr 2017 - clutch master cylinder with slave cylinder failed. Dirt got in, chewed hefty portion of master cylinder piston gasket and then continued to chew the green gasket on slave cylinder. Two things to order: As slave cylinder was ok (with scratches, but ok) so only thing to replace is piston gasket. A very specific O-ring. O-ring is not available separately, so whole slave cylinder has to be ordered. 30-40€ smth like that. Fine, but still a pity that I couldn't order a O-ring only. Now Master Cylinder piston replacement kit is actually available in the parts list. But …

  6. Cheerio, Bought a 2010 Beta 80 for little money, in a shabby condition. It's been restored with much TLC to it's former glory, including freshly painted frame, all new bearings, new clutch, new small end, chain set, replaced ton's of broken parts, and fresh plastic body parts all around. Last bits and pieces, and I'm finished, and my 10yo can finally make the transition from his Oset 20". BUT. Last evening I kept searching for the correct mounting point for the rectifier, but wasn't able to find one. Anybody that can point me in the right direction? Greatly appreciated! Yours truly, Vincent

Does anyone else find it annoying that you can't put your side stand down with your foot? It's irritating having to reach down to do it with my hand, to the point where I usually look for a tree or wall to stand it against instead!

Having an issue with my 14 evo. Seems to run good if i rev it up a bunch and clean it out. But I’ll idle around and run it in the low rpm’s and it just runs extremely blubbery up top. Like when the bikes just been started and try to give it a bunch of throttle. I’ve gone one down on the main. I’m in the top clip. Air screw is out. Cleaned the air filter 2x I’ve sort of tried running it with the air filter out but I’ll have to test it better than just my parkade. Any other reason I could be having this issue or is this just normal?

  10. I am having some problems with the carb on my Beta rev 3 250cc 2005 trials bike. I have had the bike a few months and have just been using the bike in fields, going up hills as I am new to trials. The bike starts well normally first or second kick. Recently I noticed that the carb was leaking, I think it has always done this but I had not noticed before. The carb has got the atmospheric tubes looped of the top of the carb and cut at an angle in the end.Petrol drips out from the over flow in the float bowl. This does not happen when the bike ticks over but when you rev the bike half to 3/4 throttle.I am not a mechanic and have little experience with carbs and have been tr…

Hello all, I am sure its been hashed and rehashed but I can't seem to locate the topic cleanly. My desire is to lighten the clutch lever pull on a 2014 Beta 300 2T. I have experimented in the past with removing two springs on enduro bikes, I am, however somewhat hesitant to do this on my Beta for various reasons. At one point came across a thread in which a member, I believe it was Lineaway chimed in with a set of alternate springs that seemed to be just the ticket. I can't remember it was even a Beta that was referred to. If anyone has suggestions or can point to a solution, I'd be much appreciative Thanks, -ADAM-

Hi, I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered before. I've had lots of bikes over many years and as a bit of nostalgia I recently bought a very nice Alp 250. So far I have just cleaned the carb and all else seems pretty good. Just wondering about a source for basic parts in the future. thanks!

Evo 2012 300. Runs sweet after new bottom end lock down but recently I’ve been having moments where the old girl boils up. First time it’s ever started doing this. I took the water pump cover off and the plastic impeller rattles on the shaft, rocks back and forth. Still goes with the shaft but I wonder if when hot the shaft can spin in the impeller? Appears worn to me. I’m ordering up a replacement. Would this worn one be causing my overheat possibly? I next need to check the fan switch and fan is actually working any advice on what and how to check? Thanks in advance

  15. Hi all, I'm really really stuck! I was changing the fork seals on my son's Evo 80 (2018) and I stupidly loosened the bottom bolt at the bottom of the fork body on the right fork (the damping side). I had just presumed (wrongly as it seems) that this bolt would have to be removed to remove the oil seal. The issue is, now that I've loosened it, it will neither fully undo nor tighten. I presume it's got thread sealant of some kind on too which is exacerbating the issue no doubt. I'm pretty sure the forks are more or less identical to adult Evo forks such as my own 2014 250. However, I just can't find a solution to this online. I've seen quite a few suggestions about bro…

I have a 08 Rev 3 250 and I took the clutch apart to check the disks and basket. I have everything put back together but when I work the leaver it is super hard and it's not lifting the pressure plate to disengage the clutch. Does anyone have any idea what it is?

I’ve ordered another run of the 3mm offset clutch washers. Gonna have to charge for these as I gave away the last batch and it’s expensive to give away custom parts.I figure $35 for a set should cover my cost and postage in the US. I’ll have to figure out a payment scheme. Not gonna give them to a dealer to sell this time. Tried that last time and he just gave them away and everyone said what a great guy he was for giving them free parts. 😬

It is not easy to use standard bent feeler gauges for valve clearance inspection and I would think a 90 degree bend would work better. Has anyone found 90 degree gauges in the correct size? I found some sets used for big diesel engines but the smallest is 0.008" and they are needed down to 0.004" (0.1 mm). There are some straight brass gauges. Do they bend better than stainless steel?

I have a 2016 300 with the standard pipe and muffler. I have adjusted the jetting and it runs great with one exception. Occasionally, when opening the throttle from idle it will stall. It does not pop through the intake but instead you hear what sounds like fuel burning in the exhaust. It sounds very similar to a gas barbecue being lit. This happens at lower idle settings, below 1200 rpm. At higher settings up above 1400 it does not happen. Is this rich or lean?
