I'm just about to do a pre-purchase inspection and test ride on a 2001 REV3 200. Is there anything special to look out for with this bike? I am familiar with 2001 REV3 270 and the well known Beta problems with ignition stators and carby connector failures. What I'm after is any problems particular to the 200. I'm told that the bike has recently had new rings fitted and that the reed land needed trimming to remove a bump. Thanks

Whilst reseaching the identity/type of my Beta, i came across 'Reverse' model Beta's. These have what i'd call regular setup, i.e kickstart on right, drivetrain on left, Whereas standard Beta's and i see a lot of european bike have kickstart on left and drivetrain on right. Is there any reasoning behind this? or just down to the manufacturers at the time????

Hi all... My bike was loosing oil when out for a ride the other day. FOund it to be leaking from the sight glass for the oil. SO tightened it up...but being a plastic thread..doesn't seem to grip that securely..so I'm guessing it might work loose again soon. I was thinking to use thread-lock or plumbers tape on it. Is that a good or bad idea...or any other ideas??.......thanks in advance

i have a 1998, when i have a lot of fuel in it, and i lean it to a said, (on its stand) it drips pettrol out of a pipe on the carb, i was thinking to float might be stuck or something, why is this happening and how do i sort it out. also another question, there is a little window on the crank case, is this for the gearbox oil level, and how much oil do these take. thanks in advance

  5. Started by stuessenhigh,

Just wondered...Is it possible to get some kind of vertical fuel cap breather for the Rev 3.....(like I've seen on some Montesas etc) Because the breather hose on mine, is always spitting out fuel onto my graphics..which then makes them peel off! Thanks in advance for any help.

I've noticed recently that if I park my bike facing downhill, it's an absolute bugger to start again. In an effort to find out why this is happening I did a search on this forum and came up with the following thread: http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=352 This is one of the more... involved conversations (in more ways than one) that I've read on TC and although someone mentioned the exact same problem that I'm experiencing, I'm not sure that the central point of the discussion is the same. So it's flooding when pointed downhill, right? An an experiment, I rode a long downhill section without blipping the throttle occasionally like I usually do and t…

Hey guys n gals... I just saw this add at motosoup, didnt give a location but lets pretend that it was close enough for me to pickup, say for 1000-1200 dollars US. 94' Beta Techno in great shape, usual scratches, almost new 280 top end and new clutch, o-rings and seals ...runs great what about these beta's do I need to: 1. worry about 2. be sure to look at, or ask about any weak spots? I'm trying to get a buddy started, he's riding good and in a year I expect to see him winning in the novice class. also looking for a bike for his 12 year old son, who will be beating most the novices within 1/2 year (he's got some natural ability) help me out here... Im i…

Hi all, Just wondered if someone could tell me the size of the front and rear wheel bearings on the Beta Rev 3 2002. It would help me out, so I can pop to the bearing shop, BEFORE getting the old ones out. Thanks in advance for any help

Saw a 2005 Beta rev 80 today. Its got a silver back mudguard but the rest of it is the same colour orange as the 2004 model. I was wondering if anyone knows if the 125/200/250/270 are finished in the same colour. As the 2005 model looks red in all the images i have seen of it.

I've got a 1997 250 techno that will only pick up when the pilot screw is adusted to about a quarter of a turn out. Off the pilot everything ok. Checked carb and it has 30 pilot. Looking at previous postings it would seem that the pilot should be adjusted to about 11/4 turns but if I do this then it just runs flat off the bottom end . Any suggestions?

I have my carb in pieces and have sent Billy T an email, as follows but he hasn't responded yet and am wondering if anyone else can help me. Thanks -leips Mr. Traynor- I am emailing you as I have some questions regarding the setup for my mikuni carb for my 2002 beta rev 3 200cc trials bike. The carb leaks if I don't shut the fuel off. I have printed out your directions off of some trials website and am still a little confused. I am not very mechanically inclined but if given detailed directions and proper tools I can do most stuff. I have removed my carb (disconnected both end from the airbox and cyl.) and unscrewed to top part where the throttle attaches). i then r…

I bought a '97 techno with the wiring removed and now want to put it back on. Where and how does the Ac to Dc converter mount? I don't see it on the assembly drawing. Also..was there some kind of insulation/ shielding on the wires that go to the blue capacitor? (mine has none) I thought of a plastic or rubber insulator over the whole thing but don't know if it has to radiate heat.

I went out on my bike yesterday, but before I did ,I checked the electrics out ,cleaned all the terminals up and took the flywheel off and gave it a liberal spray of WD. After 20 minutes of riding and being about a mile from my car, the bike cut out and wouldnt restart.I changed the plug but still it wouldnt start so I checked the spark.......no spark.Thoughts of what the hell have I done and why did I mess about with it if it wasnt broken were running through my mind. I couldnt find the fault until I decided to check if I`d done anything behind the flywheel, when I took the cover off ,I could tell straight away...snapped woodruff key.The flywheel was just spinning and t…
