Stolen Bikes

Don't know if this is the right forum but Greater Manchester Police at Radcliffe have found at least three trials bikes and it looks like two/three motocross bikes. One evo , what looks like a Sherco and I think a very distinctive green trials bike with green anodised wheel hubs ( possibly Gas Gas ) . This might seem like a thick question, I'm looking to upgrade my trusty old Gas Gas and have seen some quite reasonable bikes for sale privately but dont want to spend all my hard earned cash on a bike and find it is stolen, so any ideas on how I can check apart from the obvious like - Check the engine numbers against any paper work the owner may have, ask question on how long they have had it or just walk away if they have no documentation of proof of sale. Would the importer of the model be able to tell me if it was stolen if I was to ring them with the Engine and frame number.

My dads garage was broken into early hours of this morning - around 01:40 and his 2004 Montesa 315R was stolen by some thieving little ****bags The bike is in very good condition and has a couple of non standard features - Keihin Carb Carbon Fork & Exhaust Protectors Red Solid Billet Cushion Link Aluminum Coil Cover Also the rear mudguard sticker is back to front!! Hampshire police have found two trials bikes in West Wood, Netley Abbey, Southampton. Presumed stolen as well hidden. Could people share or post to other groups to find owners please.

On monday night/ tuesday morning, 25th/26th october 2010 my 2011 gasgas 300 was stolen from Compton Dundon in Somerset. Bike was only 3 weeks old so still looking immaculate. It had an s3 flywheel weight on it and titanium coloured master cylinder caps. The VIN T300M0706045. If you get offered the bike or see it then please let my dad (Dean) know on 07887805463. Hello All A good friend of mine has had a 07 Beta REV 4 and an 06 Beta REV 3 250 stolen. The 2 bikes were taken from his van , which was parked outside his house in Herne Bay , Kent in the early hours of Friday 7 December . The bikes are normally kept in an alarmed garage but he was having some work done in the garage so he put then in the van to keep them out of the mess. Team Trials UK's Horne family were broken into last night. Dave Horne and family lost their bikes hours before setting off to the next round of the British Championship in Devon. Please keep a look out for - 2013 Sherco 300 No. VNBS529TRCA025809, Husqy junior motocross, KTM junior motocross, Oset 20" Lite, Oset 16R and an Oset 12". The trials bikes had Trials UK special stickers on but the thieves also took the standard Sherco plastics too so the Sherco may be restored to original before being sold.
