Looking for advice on what petrol generator will power the charger for my Freeride E. I know it's not a trials bike but there is so much knowledge on here regarding E bikes. So I want to take the bike to my local MX/Enduro bike park, they don't have electricity so I can't recharge between rides. I can easily get 60 mins+ continuous ride time when I am not gassing it MX style so my plan is ride for a hour, have lunch and recharge the bike, then ride for another hour, and repeat. The charger needs 13 A steady output to fast charge, and 10A steady for normal charging. I found this article that talks about charging the battery with a petrol generator on the KTM bl…

Hi all, I've just bought an non running Oset 16 36v 2012 model I think. I got it to work for about 5 seconds, but now nothing. When I turn the key switch on the relay clicks and soon after the controller clicks. I'm fairly sure the batteries are good and I have three red lights on the handlebar. As soon as I turn the throttle the motor will clunk a bit and then nothing. All the connections seem ok, I've read loads of stuff about measuring voltage on the relay and controller but my relay is all sealed and not really sure what I'm doing anyway. The motor seems quite clunky when I rotate it from turning the wheel, is this normal? guessing I will ne…

My son's 16.0 24v. has a lot of friction in the forward direction and even more friction in the other direction. The bike works well, but because of the extra friction the batteries are drained after half an hour. Has anyone opened the electric motor to replace the bearings ? Thanks.

Hello, Steve here, use to ride with Hillsborough MCC some time ago, have just bought my daughter a Oset 16, so will be visitng frequently and maybe have a bike for myself in the future. I also have a few questions re the 36v Oset 16 we have. I`ve turned the power right down on the parent control and I was hoping to get this down to walking pace but this doesn`t seem possible should it come down to this speed on the 36v? I`m also aware of the punch from the 36v on pull off, I was wondering if you can run the 36v motor with just 2 batteries at 12v each to reduce the punch? If I decide to go the 24v route is just a case of swapping out the motor and charger? Are the rest …

Here are the instructions, this should give most of the details that are needed to decide. Throttle Tamer Instructions V1.0.pdf It is a inline device that fits between the throttle and controller. Here are also a couple of pictures of the device. Please be aware that I do not make these or sell these devices, I just think that It may be a good solution to a problem that some are having with throttle control on electric bikes.

Hi all, just though i'd say hello. I've been looking around for a bike for my youngest son (he will be 4 in May) and spotted these! I believe Martin Sandiford would be my nearest seller in Ramsbottom. I must pay him a visit. £700 is a lot of outlay for a 'i hope he gets the bike bug'. I love the idea that you can take them almost anywhere though. Many thanks... Pete

Hi guys, Just picked up a 2010 Oset 16 36V and noticed an intermittent problem. When the motor is running full open throttle or if the bike is slowing down there is a rubbing noise coming from the motor. It doesn't seem to happen when getting up to speed. First I thought it was from the chain against the plastic casing but in fact its coming from the motor. The sound isn't loud, and initial instinct was a wheel bearing, but is definiately coming from the motor. There doesn't seem to be any play in the bearings as rotation and chain tension seem fine. Has anyone else had a similar problem or any advise before stripping the motor? Also are these motors easy to split…

If anyone is considering fitting any guards , I can recommend carbon fibre items from KELLEY CARBON . All hand made in the UK . NOT the cheap ABS plastic that cracks and shatters just looking at it !

Hello, Liking this bike a ton! Has anyone swapped out their stem for something that has a little more rise and a lot less reach? Looks like ~50mm offset and 0 degrees of rise on the stock stem here... this has much less offset, and some rise too... ...enough rise to clear to the blue comp clicker ( I think ) What do you think? TIA

I thought I'd start a thread to show some of the mods we have done to our Oset 20. Maybe other people can do the same and share any little tips to make it even better. The standard brakes were not to his liking and the pads wore through in a very short space of time the day before Christmas! Faced with the possibility of not riding the bike until the new year (because we couldn't get new brake pads sent) we bit the bullet and stuck some Shimano XT's on there. Awesome brakes! Also did some Renthal grips and bar ends while were at it. The motor was getting covered in muck and so we used an old heavy duty 18" inner tube cut to the right size and shape to make a mud guard…

I have bought the KTM Freeride - E. I know it's not a trials bike but after seeing my son take his Lipo'd Oset 20 to places a petrol bike can't go I was sold on an e bike. Almost bought the EM5.7 but the lack of dealer support put me off, the KTM has a 3 year warranty on battery and charger and a 2 year warranty on the bike itself plus the backing of the biggest player in dirt bikes. Anyway, my van has a 12v power output and I was thinking I could run an inverter to recharge the bike whilst I have a break - full charge is just over an hour. Realise I am likely to have to run the engine as I do this. On fast charge I need a constant output of at least 13 A and on normal…

Hoping someone has come across this and found the cause. 2015 oset 20R one day working perfect, the next on turning the throttle there is a momentary lurch , wheel turns slowly about a half turn, then nothing. Lights show full charge, batteries are charged and balanced and showing 48v at the switch. I've tried unplugging each of the controllers, speed power and throttle response as suggested elsewhere. No difference. All connections appear ok beyond that, stumped!!

Hi All, Im looking for help for Oset 16 Lithium battery options. In Australia I am having a very difficult time getting my hands on a lithium battery for the Oset16. I have spoken to the Oset importer (under triumph now) and they had no idea what I was talking about which is a little concerning. But I have seen several posts of people wiring 18v drill batteries in series and having great success. I thought I would reach out to this forum and see if anyone can give advice about this being successful or not and what sort of range to expect. I can get more lead acid batteries but I was hoping to get something lithium for extended range so he can at least ride a…

Just found these. They are pretty cheap and very lightweight. They supposably made there own "prismatic?" cells (not A123s). They have been mentioned once here. It seems they would be a good choice for this application. But i can't find any info on using them this way. Can they be hooked in series? Charging? They don't have any provisions for BMS. They have been out for over a year now seems like someone would have tried them in an ev application by now. Somebody help me out.
