OSET Electric Trials Bikes

Hope you can help. I have a 48v 20" that has 1 damaged battery. I want to charge the other three, can this be done on the bike with the 48v charger or is that a bad idea? If I get the three charged will it run (even if at lower power) just to show the motor works before I sell it? Thanks

Hi there, looking to upgrade the batteries of my son 36v 16" oset, with Kelly controller. My main goal is range, so something to last a bit longer, rather than high discharge stuff at all costs. Was thinking about four of these https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-battery-5000mah-5s-20c-lipo-pack-xt-90.html?wrh_pdp=3 , two in series and two in parallel, to both reach 36v and get more amperage, but not sure if anything will blow up. And not sure if they can all be wired to charge together, and if total discharge is too high for the system. If that's the case I could consider just two 24v batteries connected in parallel, as my primary goal is increase r…

We have a 12.5 and a 36v in the house, and the boys are at the point of having more endurance than the batteries do (even w/ fresh 10.5ah batteries). What would be the easiest way of charging 2 or 3 12v lead acid batteries off the bike? Do the Oset chargers have the brain in them that monitors the output of the charger, or is that control part of the bike? If that's the case, would I simply need to set the batteries up in series (right voltage to the right charger), and buy a connector that will attach to the Oset chargers? Thanks in advance, Pete

I bought my grandson a Spyder 16.0 when Ian first started importing them into the USA. My grandson rode it for a few hours and took a spill and the battery pack came out (we didn't have it properly secured). Since then, it blows the 20 amp main fuse whenever we try to connect the battery. Any idea where to look first? Dick

I have a breakdown in the promax brake caliper, which are not sold separately and have the characteristic of using dot 4. Because of this, several scenarios present themselves to me. 1. Get an AVID JUICY clamp that is in good condition and enter dot 4. 2. repair the one I have, but I don't think it will work. 3. Change the entire system of both wheels for shimano. Has anyone had to change the brake system?

What made Oset's engineers choose brushed motor over brushless? Almost all e-bike alternatives run brushless. Is it because these motors are less expensive? Better low speed characteristics (RC crawlers have brushed motors for that reason)? Starting to think about an Oset 24 conversion. So many brushless controllers and motors options as opposed to brushed...

I´m not sure if i´m straying too far off-topic but i Intend to use it as a "Trailbike" ;-) Anyway.. Building an E-BMX seems like a neat Winters project so any advice on how to build one is welcome. Available parts, sofar. An old BMX 20" 24 V 350W Brushed DC Motor With a 25A Controller in good condition. 90 T sprocket, front is 11 T #25 Chain(Same as on the small OSET´s). 2* 12V 9Ah SLA batteries(Same casing as the normal 7.2 Ah´s).

  10. I know this thread might be a bit mis-categoriized, but I hope it doesn't get moved as this is the place to get to the audience I need. I started to build my daughter's 16" Oset up to a 20" about 6 months ago. Then I heard that Oset was coming out with the 20" so I decided to wait patiently for it. However, I just can't wait any more. She is getting too big and Oset doesn't have a firm date or price for the 20. I hate to do it as I am a huge fan of Oset, but my daughter is really getting into trials and this summer is the perfect opportunity for her to do a bunch of riding, but the 16 is now way too small and underpowered. So I need your help. I see a lot fo very smart …

Did someone try bypassing the Relay, and directly connecting the wires together? My relay is bad, so I tried that on the Oset 24r, but unfortunately, the bike is not responding to throttle commands this way. Rest of the lights (battery indicator, 48v feeding the relay from the controller) work well.

  14. Hi, new to the forum and trials, from more an Enduro / Green laning background. Bought a 2nd hand Pre 2015 Oset 16 36v for my boys Christmas present, seems to run ok, but the part of the harness highlighted in yellow in the image is broken and not connected. It looks like an in-line fuse to me, but also looks to be in a useless loop. Could someone let me know what it is please as I likely don't have time to order a wiring harness mail order before Christmas, but could repair it. Although as stated it runs, so don't know if it's part of something else, charging maybe? I've tried looking at the wiring diagrams online, but it doesn't appear clear, at least to me. …

Hello guys, I bought a new "upgrade" chain kit for my 2011 oset 16". So bigger chain. The shop confirms me its OK but I doubt that there is to much play between chain and chainring. The owner isn't in till next week so I cant double check with him. Could any of you please check if it is the same on a new model Oset 16"? See pic and movie https://youtu.be/nnnaTCFe8kc Big thanks!

Hello! Just got a 2012/ 2013 20.0. Previous owner said the batteries are new. When I charge the bike the fan continually cycles up and down i.e. speeds then slows. Anyone know what this might mean? Seems to happen after the bike has been on the charger for 20 mins or so. I'm aware not to charege for more than 5 hours. Thank you!

The charging block for my Oset occasionally makes odd noises when plugged in, almost like there is something mechanical inside it grinding away. I'm pretty sure it's always done this, but not positive. Normal?

Hi all, the 3 pin plug socket broke on my oset charger, from what I can tell its just a American 2 pin plug socket so I just need a converter don't I ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/US-USA-2-Pin-UK-3-Pin-Plug-Adapter-Converter-Black-/130434571648 See this item, and a 10 amp fuse is good ?

Hi all Newbie here - to both trails & Oset. Bought a 2nd hand 2017 24 R privately. Just gone to charge it, red light comes on on the charger but not the yellow one as it should have as the bike battery is flat. I try to pull off the charger plug lead from the battery socket (after unscrewing the locking ring)& the charger plug on the lead comes apart in my hand !!!! DOHHHH !!!! The plastic cap & metal 'plug' in the lead have separated with all 4 wires detaching from the 'prongs' in the metal body of the charger lead plug. Anyone know of someone who can repair it please or any other recommendations,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Many thanks …
