ive just required a 198B and S/Arm the frame is bent the S/Arm seems straight tho i did a test by holding the boss off the bush housing up to a straight edge no gaps. i plan on having the frame sorted and blasted and back to it's former glory in white. my question is on some off the later S/Arms did they not bother putting grease nipples on the bushes? just this 1 is blank there are no holes and it's not been filled as it;s bare metal.

My mate and I are at logger heads. I have a 159 Sherpa T I'm overhauling to ride . My current stead is a Italjet 350T. But decided to get a bully. Now do I fit the genuine tank to my restoration project or do I go with the later plastic tank and seat from a later bike. Parts are easier to get for a 199. My problem is that the bike was fitted with a '71 tank and unknown seat. Possibly alpina? I want to fit the 199 tank but my mate say's I should keep the bike original.I don't have a 159 tank. hi all the ball bearing on my clutch shaft is worn can these be replaced? if so how doi get it out? and fit a new one?

Is the drain plug for the primary oil the bottom center bolt in the side case? My 77 Pursang was that way,but it had a larger flat head on the bolt.This is just a regular allen head. I also need to drain the gear box oil,but after reading previous post on the subject I,m a bit nervous that it will be buggered up.

Anyone know any 35mm diameter replacement fork staunchions for 325 Sherpa T circa 1977 - 78. Many Sherpa T forks are severely corroded, I am interested to know if anyone has found a replacement pair of new staunchions from another Trials bike make that would do the job ? Fork staunchions slighly increased in diameter could be accomodated in the Sherpa fork yolks. As an alternative option, has anyone ground existing corroded Sherpa T fork staunchions, re chromed and stress relieved, etc ? Brian H

Hi , i have a very early serial no model 27 reg no SPE100F , it was registered september 1967 and i think the reg no is a commerfords issue . Due to its serial no ( its between 10 and 20 ) and its early registration for a 27 i suspect it could of been given to a supported rider . I would be grateful of any assistance in tracing any of its history or if anybody on here has previously owned this bike i would love to hear from you . I bought it from the bristol area about 12 years ago , its not been abused but had been used neccesitating a bore to 73 mm , im having a tank made off the original in ethanol proof ( i hope !) resin glass , thanks

Hi all. Today I was out trail riding on my kdx 250 when the chain jumped off the rear sprocket, wrecked the chain guide and snapping off the end of the gear selector shaft. I will be on the phone on monday to see if I can get one, but in the mean time has anyone had the same problem on any of their bikes in the past and did you manage to get it fixed by an engineer?

Hi, Just replaced the Amal Carb on my 198A that I have restored. My question is. Is the choke on the Mikuni when the lever is down or when the lever is up? Cheers

Can some one tell me on the 72 Alpina the fill hole that's almost under carb what is that for? And on the right side of motor is that the gear oil side?? And what do I use for gear oil and is that fill hole that's under care is that for transmission? Thanks

I’m restoring a M159, how are you guys going about cleaning the inside of the pipe and muffler? Caustic soda? Are there other ways that work well? mike

Hi, continuing with top end rebuild of M-80, can any one help with info on head gasket. Haynes manual (original 1970's version) states NO head gasket fitted. However I remember fitting them many years ago. If they need a gasket what material and thickness is best suited? Cheers

Had a loud rattle from the back of the bike (Alpina 213), so pulled off the rear silence and give it a shake - something heavy adrift inside. I thought I’ve nothing to lose so took the disc cutter to it: Having fished it out it appears to be the same size as the lower tailpipe, but where does it belong?

Hi. New to group. Hope you can help me out. I have a 76 bultaco Sherpa 350. Bike starts after a few kicks. Runs ok but when you stop the bike it doesn’t want to start again. Any ideas why. Had new piston and carb looked at. Cheers. David.

Dear All, I am trying to clean/restore the wiring of a recently bought Alpina 213. Need your help to clarify components and correct wiring The stator has 5 coils, and 6 wires: black, yellow, green, green/yellow, red, grey I found the black connected to ignition coil (and the bike runs 🙂 ) and kill switch. The red and the grey are not connected to anything. The green is earthed to the frame. The yellow goes to horn (and it sounds) as well as main light switch. Stop light does not work. Tail light always on... My questions: 1/ is it possible to identify the coils and their functions? how to? 2/ I understand one coil is for igniti…

Hi guys, I Have recently acquired a 199A. The cylinder head has two spark plug tapped and drilled holes, one pointing towards front and one pointing to the rear. The usual central spark plug hole has not been drilled or tapped. This is different to an earlier 199A I owned. The combustion chamber is also a completely different shape to my earlier model. Has anybody any ideas why this is the case? Perhaps the head is off a Pursang for some reason? The barrel is stamped 199A so that seems correct. Thanks.
