I picked up a new 2006 4rt a few weeks ago. If you have recently purchased one, you should check that the engine breather is venting properly. The hose comes out of the top left of the valve cover and goes up to a small catchment tank up underneath the steering head. From the tank, a second hose runs to the top left front side of the air box. This routing recycles any excess air out of the engine back into the intake via the air box. From the factory, my breather hose was doubled back on itself just before the air box, effectively sealing it. It wasn't that obvious as the pinched part was tucked up behind the frame, just above the rear brake reservoir. The quick w…

My 315R will not turn off if the engine is revving at high rpm with the kill switch. It works OK at lower rpms. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi, Looking for a bit advice, not a clean tick over on my 4RT, its wandering .. high then low.. What could it be ? Havent tried a new plug yet , but I've heard the gap on the plug should be closed up ? can anyone confirm ?. It's fine once above tick over and revs normally ? Does having the rear baffel out make any difference ?

Keeping a clean airbox/carb! I use filter oil, grease around the the lip of the filter, grease even at the mouth of the airbox lid! But I continue to get dirt in the carb, I always check the boots between carb, cylinder and box to make sure seal is tight! Air box has no cracks seems good. I feel like I take all the proper steps in preparing a clean air flow on my 2003 Mont! How often do you guys replace your filters, buy new ones? sam

I have new rear plastic for my 03 315 but I want to "fix up" the old one a bit to use for practice. I could prob make it look OK using silver or black , but wondered if anyone knows a close match to the red. eg FORD XYZ red which I can buy at an Autoparts store in a spray can.

My 4rt came with a check valve installed in the fuel cap breather vent hose. The check valve allows air to escape from the fuel tank. I think this is upside down. Isn't the breather supposed to let air into the tank, or is there something special about the whole fuel injection set up?

I am restoring a pair of Montesas and need some help with the jetting. I have new Mikuni VM26 carbs for each and have been given jetting for both from a couple of sources here in the US (expat Yorkshireman), but the 348 which is finished would not pull the skin of a rice pudding. Any one have any experience of putting Mikunis on the 348/349. Thank You.

Hi everyone. I desparately need some help before a trip is needed to the dealer. My mate has just bought an 05 4rt and took it for its first outing today. Kicked over first time at the start, rode it fine for about half an hour, stopped for 5 mins for a drink and now it just will not start. We have now been trying for a good few hours to get it going but it does not want to know. I have taken the plug out and it is very slightly wet which I expected with kicking it over for so long without it firing, but it is in good nick with a good spark. I have cleaned and reseated all the connectors I can see but I dont know where to start now as I know nothing about 4 stoke bikes. c…

My 315 had a clutch that dragged so bad you had to push off and then click it in gear when it was cold/first started. Then after it warmed the it would drag badly unless you blipped the throttle every 3 seconds. Also hard to modulate. Tried the Silkolene oil, but not better. I finally bit the bullet and installed new standard friction disk which are a mix of cork and paper fibre. Also went to the recommended Elf oil. Just to make sure I bleed the hydraulics. Clutch works fine now. A little clunk as it goes in gear, but the bike does not move. Smooth progressive engagement. It now has about 3 hours since the rebuild and still works fine.

It's here!!! I just installed the exhaust and tested i outside the garage. I must say the exhaust and pipe are a really good fit and the welding is amazing. I'll post the photos in 2 post. <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> did a splendid job with the order and there will be more orders from Sweden NOTE: To say that the Mitani silencer is quiet is little wrong BUT it's far better than the original one. It has a mellow sound to it and not the high pitched sound of the original. When you rev the bike the Mitani silencer still has plenty of grunt but in a more pleasant way. I will post a video of me riding in a section as soon as all the s…

hi.does aybody recognise these symptoms of poor running on a 1997 315r. the engine will always start from cold but not so reliable from hot and it idles away with no problems.however on a constant quarter throttle it sounds and feels as if the choke is on although it isnt.any where beyond this amount of throttle seems fine but the silencer runs very hot after about 2 to 3 mins of running time.it also gets slightly worse when it is being ridden.the carb and silencer have both been removed and cleaned with no positive results.can anybody suggest a possible cure as i am now out of ideasnot being familiar with trials bikes this being my first one.this is now driving me mad w…
