anyone remember Gavins bad experience with his montesa, well eventually we found out that the chrome on his carb slide had worn away, causing the slide to stick when revved at a certain amount! Is there any prevention for this, or do you av 2 buy a new slide every 6mnths, this would be helpful for both of us, because im plannin a 2001 montesa after the new year!! cheers chris

I've been mixing pump gas with race gas to prevent spark knock. Would it be possible to place a second head gasket or base gasket on to reduce compression so I may run pump gas? What, if any, effect would this have on performance?. I ride in areas where there is no way to get race gas or carry enough with you. Thanks, Bill. 315R

Apparently, montesa/honda are homing in on the spec for their 4 stroke machine, they currently have several size/spec engines running at the moment, although a 350cc version has been abandoned as it made too much power in the wrong way!! Mark Freixa will be riding a 4 stroke for more than a few rounds this coming season, but Dougie will be 2 stroke mounted all year.

Hey Guys, I need/want some Talon Sprockets for my 98 Montesa, I have a UFO catalogue from a friend at school, it features the Talon sprockets for both front and rear. However it confused me because in the Talon Sprockets it has lists upon lists for MX bikes with sprocket ratios, sizes and part numbers, then there is a list for 'Trials' that simply states.. Sprocket Price Front

Has anybody else ever encountered this problem on Montesa? It's a 2001. I bought it used and it works fine as long as you don't tighten up the clutch cover screws all the way. (specifically the one in the back center) I suspect it has a clutch cover which is out of line with the pilot hole in the center cases. It has no obvious distortion, but it still binds. I have eliminated end play as an issue, by removing the inner shim (between the inside end of the kicker shaft and the case) Now get this part, I have attempted to free it up by 'tapping' on it with a small hammer. (ahem) The result was a tikling sound under the bike, while it was laying on it's side, clutch side up…

It's only fitting that I should be the first to open a topic in the Montesa forum. I don't really know what to say other than
