Hi, I just buy mint conditions 120 hours used Montesa 260 RT 2014. Bike working like new and when engine is cold it´s starts very easily, but after 30 minutes driving when engine is hot starting is nightmare. If i give little fuel straigth to throttle body engine start but running only few seconds. Then after 15-25 minutes waiting engine start and running like new. I already adjust idle speed to around 1850rpm, also i check throttle cable freeplay, then i reset ecu many times but nothing help:( Would someone help what I need to do next?

If a 4RT runs out of gas are there any special procedures required to restart after filling the tank? I'm thinking maybe bleeding air out of the fuel pump or injector. I don't see anything mentioned in the owner's manual. Thanks.

I'm in need of a primary pinion gear for a Cota (white wonder) 349. This is the gear that is pressed onto the main shaft that meshes with the clutch basket gear. Does anyone know if other Cota models are the same? Any leads to finding this part is much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi everyone! I have just purchased and old rusty 1999 315r with rusty spokes and nipples that make impossible to center the rear wheel. I found a cheap 2008 4rt rear wheel, that have different disc/sprocket bolt pattern, but will it fit into the 99’ 315r? Wich spacers/mods must have to be done? any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Hi all, I have just noticed how hot my exhaust / manifold gets seconds after startup. The bike idles well and doesn’t seem to be missing a beat. Not sure if that’s how 4 stokes are after coming from 2t Following this…. The fan on my 4rt starts up within 1-2 minutes of riding. Not sure if this is correct or it’s getting too hot too quickly, any closure would be appreciated. Also i ride in the uk so very hot weather is not the issue before someone comments that 😂🤣

The Montesa '98 315R Manual doesn't appear to publish the 'standard position' or 'factory' settings for the Paioli front fork. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good place to start for (1) Left fork tube Preload setting and the (2) Right fork tube Rebound Damping setting. Currently using the recommended 5W Fork Oil. The rear shock is published at 6 turns out from full hard down. Thanks in advance for your help. Always appreciated

I have a 1981 Montesa 248 Cota. Engine No 21 M 51176. I need to replace the right hand timing case. I have looked at the parts manual and it indicate just a timing cover with a plastic chain guard above the front sprocket. The cover fitted to my engine is the whole length of the right hand crankcase and originally covered the front sprocket. It has a cut out at the front which perfectly matches the rubber grommet where the ignition leads exits. Does anyone Knows what Montesa model this timing cover comes from ?. The retaining screws all line up perfectly and the casing has the Montesa motif on it. Before I remove the damaged part are there any internal numbers that may a…

I recently purchased a 1998 315R with the Dellorto PHBH carburetor. The bike was pretty much a stock unit and I've been updating over the past year. She now runs well with a new clutch, rebuilt F&R suspension, recent piston, good gas, a fresh plug and a clean air filter. A new reed is on the short list. No performance complaints however I hear that a carburetor upgrade will take the bike from good to better. There are several opinions scattered across the forum as to which is the best upgrade. Some offer the later PHBL as the best choice while OKO, Keilin and Mikuni are also tossed about. So my question is three-fold: 1. Was the PHBH never a really …

Hellow, does a titanium front pipe provide better cooling of the engine? I've read that the radiator would then turn on less. Greathings, Luc

Hi guys, Sadly we has a fire at our house last week and my Montesa 4RT suffered some fire, smoke and water damage. It’s not insured regrettably so I have to see if I can get it up and running again. The heat and fire damage seems to have affected a few plastics like the rear mudguard and also killed the rear tyre too. However at this point I also can’t get it to start at all, so I’ve been trying to work out what’s wrong in a step by step fault finding basis. The first thing we noticed was that the throttle cable was stiff and stuck and not returning to its home position. We have now removed that and will order a new one. The bike i…

Stripped down the 4RT for a new cam chain etc. and had some starting problems which I thought I'd solved but after a couple of weeks it won't start again. I think I've got the tick over screw in the wrong place because it almost wants to start but won't quite. There is a big blue spark on the plug. Where about should the tick over screw be set? On a carb they say "1 to 1 1/2 turns out" but what about the 4RT EFI.
