Is that piccy just before the front wheel dives down, you hit your nuts on the bars, the bike slides back, the front wheel catches and you go a*** over tit backwards?
-
Oy Heath, who rode the bike onto that nasty rock thing?
-
Can't you see (even now...) that comments like that just wind folk up? Say summat constructive or take the p*** but in a funny way and you'll make gits like me smile

What a load of B*****ks
From what I can see, Rennie expected the results to be online and then got a bit arsey when they had not been published by Tuesday - fair enough. The BDMC fella's told him/her to shut up moaning and that's about it. I'm pretty sure that Rennie doesn't need any one's support either - he or she submitted the post, read the replies and probably thought no more aobut it
Could it be you 'targeting' the Bradford club any way you can, whenever you can? I can't remember what it was now but I seem to remember your Dad saying something about direction flags on the way to a trial somewhere. Stuart or Ron came back with a sharp reply and since then we have to read stuff like this...
It's trials, people organise them, people ride them - no bugger is going to get along with everybody all of the time and likewise, nobody is going to be 100% happy with every trial they see/ride.
-
So, you admit that you know nowt about the bike but you slag it off anyway?
-
I agree and disagree, I even deleted the Ben comment once and then thought '**** it' so I put it back in again. No offence to Ben Hemmo and all the Dads, brothers, good mechanics out there who are trying their best to be a great minder...
-
Bingo!
I've watched a fair few top level trials where minders are used and some of them appear to just run from one catching point to another. They do this without shouting out valuable advice/instruction/confidence boosting words of encouragement etc. Jim Lampkin and Ben Hemmo' are both very good riders in their own right but when Ben was minding for Doug last year he seemed to fade into the background a tad. WTC minding is a big job with a lot of responsibility - some relish it, some think "What the **** am I doing here?"
The 3 top minders listed above are certainly not shy of shouting to OR at their riders, they make one hell of a difference in my opinion. Some of the young, rising stars need a great minder at their back wheel at every trial but usually this very important team member is just someone like Dad, brother, mate, good mechanic or whoever is willing/able to get around the actual course. A training day in the art of minding for the Dads, brothers etc. could make a real difference (maybe?)

Paying Observers for standing out in all sorts of lousy weather has got to be the way forward. I'm not 100% convinced that it would generate a long queue of eager volunteers but I'm sure it would make the organisers job a damn sight easier.
I would be quite happy to pay extra on top of my entry fee as I've seen how frustrated and p****d off the Club officials get when they are forced to pull up a couple of sections due to a lack of Observers. They have taken the time to plot a section out and end up being forced to bin it
Saying that, I've only observed once in the 4 years that I've been riding trials (shame on me! ) although I have helped my home Club out in other ways. If Observers were paid in the future, I wouldn't accept payment purely out of principle in that as a rider, I should put something back into the club.
Something that might work is the rule that every rider must observe at least once per year. If it's a Club Championship round or something then the rider is given a bye or awarded points based on the average points scored throughout the year?

Hmm, I agree that it wouldn't be clear cut and completely free of problems but I don't think it would be 'totally unworkable' either...
Without naming names, I've heard that somebody is thinking about providing a truck that could hold up to 15-20 bikes plus the usual spares, tools and riding kit. The idea behind it is that the rider, minder and whoever else can jump on one of the many cheap flights to Europe and doss down in a cheap <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> for the weekend without having to worry about driving, ferry crossings, breaking down, getting lost etc.
The truck would be available to any promising young rider irrespective of the brand of bike he or she rides, it would be fitted with a full 3-sided awning etc. I'm pretty sure that the different factory teams would help out with technical/mechanical help when needed, as they would be helping out one of their own so to speak.
If this does happen sometime in the future, the truck would be bought and paid for and the riders would probably be expected to chip in for the running costs etc. I've previously heard horror stories of folk that travelled to Norway in 04 or 05 and the ferry crossing alone was

My mum swaps the junk mail around so the insurance companies get free mortgage advice, the mortgage people get half price windows and the window people get cheap insurance It really brightens her day up when she pops the pre-paid envelopes back in the post box

When in the 'Processes' tab, click on the 'CPU' column heading twice. This should list the processes that are using the processor the most. This might help you to 'google' on the name to see if it's a valid process or not...

The ACU handbook is costly to produce and expensive to mail out, I've had one sent to me for the last 4 years but never once picked it up and read it! What about the families that have 2 or 3 ACU members living in the same household, do they get one each? If yes, that is simply a waste of time, money and paper (save a ******* tree or two...)
I would be quite happy to sign a disclaimer on my ACU trials registration form, requesting my copy of the "Trials" bit to be emailed out to me and any funds saved to be spent on Youth riders etc.
Surely, sending an email out requesting a 'read receipt' would cover the legal beagles perspective?

Erm, no - not a good idea!

Is Bert related to Bruno?
-
Fair enough...
I heard that the Jitsie air filter is thicker than the standard Beta one and doesn't allow the engine to breathe properly. So, maybe the thick filter and raised lid just brings it back to the same level as a Beta filter and Beta lid! Are you using a Jitsie filter?
-
I saw some Beta's last weekend with those lids fitted, I've no idea if they work or not but they looked crap!
-
Doug mentioned Bou's name at one of his Silsden trials schools several years ago and said that he was pretty special. I'm not sure how old Bou is now but I seem to remember him being just 15 or 16 at the time...
-
I've had some Raptor pegs for over a year now and they still look like new. I thought about getting the brackets but something has to give somewhere and I don't want it to be the frame
-
Aye, it only did 5 days too!
The bloke that now owns it rang me up to see if there were any trick bits in the engine! I said it revs to the moon because the engine is nice and loose
-
Would that be Griffo from Beta UK?
-
Yep, ring John Lampkin Imports (JLI's) on 01535 655970. They will send it back within a few days.
Not sure about the SSDT yet, see how I feel when the regs come out as it did my head going up to watch last year
-
No, they all come with Mikuni carbs but 9 out of 10 prefer to p*** fuel out. They tend to do it when laid against a banking (laid on the right more than the left). The really bad ones leak while the engine is running and you're facing downhill Even if you get a bad one, the carb fix is easy to sort out - I just wish they would do it at the factory though...
-
Loose bolts? It depends on the model year I suppose, my bikes suffered from: -
2004 - Kickstart bolt, gear lever bolt, foot peg bracket bolts, front disk bolts, sidestand bolts
2005 - Foot peg bracket bolts, front disk bolts, sidestand bolts, middle box to frame bolt
2006 - Foot peg bracket bolts, sidestand bolts
I tried loctite on the 04 bike and it didn't make much difference! Maybe the bolt holes were a tad slack...
Prevention is better than an emergency bodge miles from anywhere
The Mikuni carb on the Beta's are ***** for losing fuel but, they don't need to be constantly messed with to get the bike to run right. I've seen Drach check his fuel tap 10+ times before riding into a section
OPTIONS
1) Get into the habit of turning the fuel off and more importantly, get into the habit of turning it back on again!
2) Send the carb to JLI's for their
