  1. That was the first thing I did with the bike when I unloaded it, pull the tank, drain it, pull the carb, drain and clean it thoroughly, and refill with fresh 91 octane ethanol free gas mixed at ~55:1 with the same 2T oil I run in my '' injected 70s kawasaki F7 & KE125 '' Did you use injection oïl for your premix ? If so what oïl do you use ?? Guy
  2. No hammer just a little heat and the bearing slide in place. Guy

    New To Me Ty250

Hi Kee, I live in Québec where there is quite a few TY TS ( mostly A model ) , I brought 2 back to life and have look around for parts for 4 or 5 years, so if you need something that you can't find localy, pm me and maybe I will be able to point you in the right direction. Guy

    Ow-10

I think there is a project to built a few of them, It seem's Yamaha gave Mick permission. Guy
  5. I don't think that if you '' close '' the steering it would be a good idea, on the contrary you will have to do the oposite by at least 25mm. Guy
  6. Thank's for the feedback David, we are '' almost '' non-stop now at our events ( there are a few reluctant rider, but.. ) and very low RPM and steady low end power make a lot of difference. I use original steel reeds and I have been thinking about trying Boyesen but I am not yet convince. Guy

    Ty350 ? Not Ty250

When you want to go '' big block '' with a TY you can use DT 360 or DT 400 piston that give you different size, 321 vs 361 cc. Guy

    Ty350 ? Not Ty250

I heard about a limited edition TY TS 350 but I don't know what year they where. Guy
  9. David, did you find any noticiable difference when you installed those Boyesen ? Guy
  10. David, I had a '' different similar problem '' I explain. When I took the cylinder of my B model to clean the ports I took the reed bloc off and check the petal ( original one ) they where not sitting thght, I check them, they where straight, so I turn my attention to the block, a thin layer of carbon had form close to where they are screwed to the bloc, a careful cleaning did the job for me. Guy
  11. For spring rate you also have to consider the position of the shock. Guy
  12. I went in the shed with the caliper and the measuring tape this morning. The IRC mounted on the 1.85 rim is a little more than 1/4 inch narrower than the Michelin mounted on the 2.15, both tire at about 4.5 p.s.i. Guy
  13. Maybe the difference come from the tire themself . On the 1.85 rim I mounted a 400/18 TT IRC and on the 2.15 a 400/18 TT Michelin. I will take the old measuring tape and confirm . Guy
  14. Very well done Gary what is the model number of the K&N filter ? From experience an oiled K&N as better flow than oiled foan. I want one for my 250. Guy
  15. One question. I don't know about rules for those bike but I notice on my TY that there is a big difference between a tire mounted on a 1.85 rim than one mounted on a 2.15 rim so my question is Can't you use a narrow rim to have more clearence ? Mick told me they tried very narrow rim back in the days with succes. Guy
  16. I think bestrcpilot comment is probably the one that is the most important, in it he mentioned '' flow bench '' now we are talking. Every time I make a change on my TY 250, WOW what an improvement !! But when I ride a stock one after a few hour on mine often I have to confess that my WOW was for the gallery.. A flow bench for the development and a dyno to confirm that it change the power band is the only way to go. And yes when you alter the intake, the carb as to be adjusted and you have to make sure your exhaust can take the increase flow. Guy

    Tyz

Is there parts avalable to rebuld a TYZ motor ( rod, pin, piston etc. ) Guy
  18. Wheater is also a concern over here ( Quebec ) our first trial is suppose to be held on the 31st, but 30cm of snow fell in the last 2 days, so patience and hope is what's left for the moment, Guy

    Ty175 Engine Mods ?

I don't know about the 175 but on my 250 A or B I replace the head gasket ( very thick copper ) by a thin aluminium ( about .005 '' ) to increase the compression. Guy
  22. I do agree that it change the way the bike handle and I like the lower and back mod. The first setup I made was not in the right position for me so I made a second one that is at the right position http://s1065.beta.ph...907578292812924 I cut the lug, drilled and taped where the lug was, on an A model I decided to weld a threaded '' washer '' and voila home made bracket that is cheap enough to trow away if it's not to your liking. When painted it does look ok Guy

    Chain Problem

I modified last year a TY TS ( raised the motor and inclined the shock ) . When I took it apart to stoire it I noticed that the chain now sometime drag on the swingarm, so I looked at some pictures of Majesty and they seem to have some sort of guizmo to prevent that. Does anybody have a pictrue of thing. Guy
  24. Why ask, your mind is already set. Guy
  25. One question: Why do you want to ride a TS ? Guy
