  1. Good gosh, I hope not. I was planning on keeping mine more than a year.
  2. Has a brother named Gonor, right?
  3. I have been using Repsol 4T Racing 10W50, fully synthetic, for about 17 months, with no problems. Live in Texas where we get plenty of heat, and hot motors to go with it.
  4. More than 19, and less than 30! Hey Martin, jump on a plane and come on over to Houston this weekend. We are having the 6th annual (skipped a year) Gary Jackson 2 Day trial, and sure would like to see you again. - Darrell
  5. They won't be "near identical". Regardless of brand, a lot happened between 1999 and 2003. Clutch action/engagement improved. Brakes improved as most bike shifted from single piston, to dual piston, on the front. The disks themselves were improved, going from plain flat and round, to more of a wave style, with cutouts, etc. These are general changes that happened across all the brands, but specific to your question, the 99 Gas Gas and 03 Sherco will not be near identical. And, if your worth your salt, at all, it will not be "a few years" before you are going to be lusting after a newer bike.

    Ty250a

Can of spray carb cleaner, from the local auto parts store. Just don't get it on any of the rubber parts. Remove them first, and disassemble down to the parts you want to clean.
  7. What about those upset by Kelsey Grammer?
  8. We were out clearing sections, for the Houston event, yesterday. Beautiful, crystal clear, 68 degrees! Summers can be rough, but it pays off now. Hope you can make it over for the event. Opening rounds are in Austin, TX next weekend, and then the 3rd & 4th round are in Houston March 7 & 8. Event flyer will be online (www.texastrials.com) in a week, or two, with all the details.
  9. Loosen the bars on the middle bike, and roll them forward, or backward, as necessary to clear, then tighten the bars back up.
  10. A few years back, wasn't there a map tool that we all stuck our pins into, so folks could see where we were located? What happened to that?

    Beta Rev 4

The Scorpa 250F has titanium valves. 5 of them, as a matter of fact. Since trials engines don't see the same abuse as the MX bikes, I would imagine that the two worlds don't compare. If they did, then the first of the Montesa 4RT's would be getting pretty ripe for piston replacements about now, and that does not seem to be a problem we are hearing about. Fair assumption that the 4 stroke trials bikes will go a long time.
  12. Once there are enough of them in place, around the world, the idea is to reverse the power grid, and feed them electricity. The will start pushing like an airplane prop, and over time speed up the earth's rotation, cooling things and reversing global warming!
  13. Notice you are in Canada. The Tryals Shop is in New York, so shipping shouldn't be too bad. Link: http://www.tryalsshop.com/ - Darrell

    Facebook?

It is under "Ariel Winters" because your picture popped up when I joined. Now, if you can just teach Kim how to use a computer well enough, we can get him to join, as well.

    Beta Rev 4

Likewise had mine (2008 model) a little over a year, with no issues at all. My drain plug is well protected by my skidplate, so not sure how one does damage to it. The plug and the hole in the skidplate are not in perfect alignment, so I could imagine the skidplate actually hitting/damaging the plug if off center enough, but not the case on mine.
  16. Interesting to look through, as I still ride with some of the Texas guys (Tom Batchelor, Eddy Kessler, etc.) appearing in these photos. The bikes still look the same, but something happened to the guys riding them!
  17. "And now, we pull our fingers out of our arm pits and smell them!"
  18. It is the "wrong side" of the road, and the bike. Otherwise, it would be on the "right side".
  19. Always amazed when a guy, who didn't win, complains about sections being too easy. That is code for "I screwed up when I shouldn't have." Now they are waiting on someone else to do the same, but the sections are "too easy" for that to happen.

    Heavy Clutch

The "other Beta's" you rode, which felt better, probably all had the factory Beta master cyclinder, instead of the AJP unit, on yours. You have likely already answered your own question as to a cure.
  21. Gee, I might consider coming if I thought there would be some mud!
  22. I'm going to reclaim my heritage. I figure that Shannon airport, Shannon river, etc. must be named after me, for a reason!
