  1. Whether you agree or not, Thatcher had a vision (unlike Brown) Human nature (namely greed) killed it all - and there were plenty who saw it coming. Most people in the street who saw the last one would have seen the signs. Like I said before, they didn't care as the good times were just simly too good ! What I do know is that a Conservative government will be prudent with spending, unlike what we see now. But.. I dont have much hope in Cameron doing the business when he gets elected. I want a young Thatcher to be in control
  2. Well, Its the first time I saw it - And I didn't think Jenson was that old. p.s. Looking at that IBM keyboard, it looks like its circa 1985 so maybe it is that old.
  3. This approach would probably appease you then - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7991512.stm
  4. One word describes what you are saying, and that word is Confidence (you hear this word a lot if watch Michael Brown in a WTC ) Seriously though, stating the obvious but if people have confidence in a company they will buy stock. If that CEO has a good track record then they will invest. He then has it away with the Secretary and this means he has other things on his mind rather than running the business! You instantly lose confidence in the guy and the stocks plummet. This current situation is more complex. This has been coming for years and the people in the money knew it. But they were making so much money they didnt care. After all, they knew that the issue was so big that the governments would have to step in so it wasn't their problem. And what makes matters worse, even though they screwed up, they still getting their fat bonuses and pensions. Can't lose can they!
  5. Gotta be a Monty Python sketch surely
  6. Errr no way - That comment was very tounge in cheek. Downturn is affecting me same as most people. I just want to see the back of it ASAP same as everyone else.
  7. I fear you are right The tories under John Major done a sterling job of getting the country's finances on track just for labour to come along and completey trash it. If the Conservative government get in at the next GE, then they will have 5 years of trying to get us out of debt which will mean 5 years of pain for most. Then because they never waved the magic wand and made it all go away, the british public will kick them out and get labour back in and we will be back to square one. This government squandered britains wealth in the good times and have now put us in an almost impossible situation. No more boom and bust he said! T*** This has been a party political broadcast of behalf of the bitter and twisted mans Party!
  8. No I agree, I suggest you get out there and start your own company - Put up your house as guarantee - Work 14 hours/day 7 days a week to get the company started. (You wont earn a wage of course, that will come later - maybe year 3) and after 5 years you may be doing ok and be able to employ a few people and be a manager yourself. All good fun - Give it a try
  9. I do hope so - It is the toughest I have ever seen it but I know of business friends who are much worse off. Just keeping it going is all you can ask for at this time. Anyone making any money is doing well.
  10. Must be a pleasure as we have virtually 0% staff turnover and its been like that for years. My comment above was drilled into me by my father. He always said if you work hard for a good boss, you will be appreciated. I have always found that. Never asked for a pay rise ever and done ok. I accept thats not always the case but just gave a view on my experience.
  11. Im my exerience , anyone who has to ask for a pay rise, don't normally deserve one in the first place.
  12. Jontathan rode at the US WTC last year when you were there. He rode a Sherco then too.
  13. Time flies ! couldn't believe he was that old already! But fair play, Pat jumped up the places bigtime on the second day. Well done
  14. Good point! Don't know why he didn't - Craig ???
  15. There are some good riders in there mate and it is just the first day after all. How were the sections for him compared to what he would ride in the US? Well done to Jono Richardson for his world round win in the youth
  16. I still think Bou will win the championship but Raga is definitely NOT past his best. He has had to up his game because of Bou and he's done it. I would even argue that for Raga to beat Bou, Raga must be riding the best he ever has!
  17. World Championship Results - Ireland 1. Adam Raga - 48 2. Toni Bou - 50 3. Takahisa Fujinami - 70 (8 cleans) 4. Albert Cabestany - 70 (7 cleans) 5. Jeroni Fajardo - 81 Hey CK, Still think Raga is past his best?
  18. Bou is the best trials rider ever (based on pure trials riding skill). Lampkin, is the greatest trials rider ever based on championship wins.
  19. Its on the Front Page http://www.trialscentral.com/cms/showartic...?articleID=4538
  20. You mean Ariel right Who knows, maybe? But with all due respect to Sammy Miller, the machines didn't allow them to do what Bou can do of course, so as the machines developed, then so did the level of skills and different aspects of it. Hence without doubt, Toni Bou has the best set of skills ever seen on a motorcycle trials bike and that is why I think he's the best ever.
  21. This is the point I'm making. It is because of the modern machines and the cyclo trials upbringing, Bou is the most skilful trials rider ever making him the best trials rider ever. His suite of skills far surpass anything that has gone before..
  22. I would argue that he is the most highly skilled trials rider ever so that's why I have stated I believe he is the best ever. I agree he has got a long way to go to be the greatest trials rider ever based on achievement.
