The ugliest number plate board, that's for sure.

Take a look at the 'are exhaust fumes from unleaded fuel dangerous?' thread from around christmas time.

In other words, Ebay didn't really come into it. You would have made the same mistake if you'd simply seen it for sale in an ad. You had a look, tried it out and still bought it. Lesson learnt. We all make mistakes, as I said I've done the same thing. At least you've got it right in the end.

Check out the Scorpa T ride video........ I want one!
-
Sounds like a good buy.
Just over

Yes, same here. Bought a cheap road bike without looking at it first. What a dunce... never again.
I've had some buys off ebay, but you MUST look first to be sure. Once you've seen the item, then buying off ebay is no worse than buying from a classified ad. But you might 'just possibly' get a bargain.

The quickest wat to tell the difference is to look at the swinging arm. The '02 had a hex head for the snail cam to adjust against. The '03 had the nice alloy block, the same as the current model.
-
Yes, I think everyone either wants. or knows someone who wants a Rev4.... if they could get one.
Surely a few more couldn't have hurt, and would have given Beta a bit more customer feedback to use on the '08 model if any mods were needed.
-
Say what? I have had 5 Scorpa in a row, all with these footpegs, and never found them to be fragile. They are CNC machined from a solid billet of duraluminum.
Duraluminum, golly thats' some good stuff!
I must admit, I've never damaged my pegs in five years of Scorpa's (an'02 & an '05) that said, we ain't got no rocks around here.

I should think you could register your TL125 and ride that on L plates. You'd still need a Theory/CBT test to validate your provisional licence.
-
Yes I agree that a trial has to be financialy viable. This is hopefully covered by the majority of the riders entering in the Expert class.
I am the Clerk of the Course for a National Sammy Miller Classic trial and even at this level we still use two routes so as to appeal to a greater number of riders, thus allowing us to more than cover costs.
Often the easy (in the case of BTC, read: Less severe) route is the most popular and thus should reflect the majority of the entry... The paying customer.
However, (and I say again, this is only my view) the BTC Championship should be aimed at the very best, or those wishing to challenge the very best and not the lower ranks.

A plastic guard across the front down tubes to stop much hitting the fan sensor, is a good idea.
-
Lets get one thing straight before I start; I'm not in a position to make a 'qualified' suggestion, as I am not a rider or organiser. But in my opinion for what it's worth, the British Championship (BTC) should be elitist.
By its very nature, it is for the TOP riders in the country, it needs to be a genuine stepping stone into European and World Championship events.
I think the BTC should be set out to test the best five and if anyone else thinks they can cope with that, then that's their choice. They are fully aware of the severity when they enter.
Remember, there is an Experts championship and also a Clubmans championship for riders of those ability levels. Those riders are already very well catered for.
We shouldn't make the BTC a watered down ride out for anyone who fancies a go. In exactly the same way that we shouldn't make the Clubmans events harder just because a couple of 'top' riders enter.

Try putting a dead straight muddy slot in and see how many marks that takes.

How much is it to get in?

My DRZ400 and Scorpa SY250 are both insured through Norwich Union. They are both registered and taxed, the third part y fire and theft insurance is

Yes, it is a common fault on the techno. Faulty sender, located at the top of the cyl head. Temp cure is to connect the wires together making the fan run all the time. There is no real problem with this so long as it's not too cold, then the coolant will be slow to reach normal running temp.
-
Less is often more, I'm embarassed to say I'm regularly beaten by better riders on pre-65 machines! A 200 is a supreb bike to start out in trials.
-
Thanks for that Ishy, almost feels as if I was there in person.
-
If you can get the certificat e of newness, the chances are that you will be able to register the bike as brand new. Which will make it an 07 reg as from next week.
-
You may be right on this one, I have never considered a Q plate as most of the bikes I have registered have been new.
Even the TTR enduro bike I registered was new, it was a parrallel import which didn't come with the certificate of newness, this was why I obtained a letter stating the year of manufacture from Yamaha. I was then given a plate dating from the start of that year.
Before you go for a Q plate, check out any possible insurance problems. I have a feeling some companies don't like Q's.
-
If this happened in one of our trials it would be simple.
Two 1st places, two equal awards, no second place the next rider is third.
Unless stated in suplementary regulations, this is the only possible outcome, which is the very reason why we run a timed special test in our LDT and Classic trials.
A timed section will (almost) guarantee an out right win without the need to make the sections any harder. But this is stated in the regs, so it is acceptable.
-
The original supplying dealer might/should have the cert of newness, failing that the importer will give you a letter stating the year of manufacture. This may cost something, I registered a TTR enduro bike using a letter from Yamaha and they charged

Now we start to see what the ACU has to put up with.
After all the hard work planning the UK calender, the FIM change things. This will mean a date change for the British Championship which will then have to move and will probably clash with a centre trial and so on.

Hi Brian,
No offence meant when I put that comment in, just trying to emphasise a point about the show that despite all the stupdity there is always a serious undertone there if folks want to look for it. Taking that whole show as it was, effectivley a bit of a mickey take of certain stereotypes, Alabama rednecks etc etc, the line seemed very poignant.
I understand where you are coming from it's the same in every country, most people are willing to get off their butts to do a job and contribute to society while a sad narrow-minded minority would rather sponge off the government expecting everything for nothing!! As a tax payer it sickens me.
You're not alone.
Donald
Crickey, when I started this topic I only wanted to say how dissapointed I was with the way Top Gear is being dumbed down, I really didn't mean it to turn into an International debate on world affairs.
I am increasingly frustrated with the need to be PC, I think Jeremy Clarkson should be applauded for for the way he approaches this. Richard Hammond is an all roaund good guy and I think James May is a wonderful character. I have little doiubt that as motoring journalists, all three are very competent.
I just think they way Top Gear has now gone is rubbish and for me all three of the presenters have let themselves down by appearing idiotic, fumbling morons. And as Arun1664 says, I really wouldn't want to be subjected to an hour of that again.
It's pretty obvious that the (attempt) at humour hasn't come from the presenters, they are following instructions from higher up in the production heirachy. Personally I dislike it, but from the comments above I seem to be in a minority, so maybe it's a good direction for the programme to go.
