    300 pro racing

I do have this written down somewhere but am struggling to find it now. Can't you just set up the static sag to suit your weight and fine tune from there? Found it! I didn't measure the spring length, but it took 19 complete turns to remove the top ring. Hope this helps.
  2. Michael, thank you for your most sincere concern. Truth is I've been so unsettled worrying about what happened to the back mudguard on that Greeves when Phil Disney was riding it that I haven't been able to work since!
  3. Been there! Done That! You're not necessarily doing anything wrong. It can be a right fiddle and needs lots of patience. Watching Jim Snell make it look so effortless just makes it worse! Keep calm and carry on. Good luck.

    Fantic

I'm not familiar with this crank, but can't you draw it through the bearings by using tubular spacers and the threaded ends of the shaft?
  5. Coverage of the CZland World Round on at 5.30 today.
  6. I think Pete has summed up the situation very well, however is it the rider's fault? There are only 4 Group Trials in this year's calendar; half the usual number and so the stutus of the championship has already diminished in my opinion. Have clubs lost interest because of falling entries or because the scoring system is unfair to those unable to regularly muster a full team? Perhaps one way to rejuvenate the events would be to have a 50/50 route so that easy route could be just that and the hard route could be more difficult to suit the youngsters and those wanting to demonstrate their skill?
  7. Hey Malc, are you sure Stu is abroad and not undergoing intensive practicing in mid Wales in readiness for his big trials come-back? Look forward to seeing you and Merv in the morning. Cheers, Dave.
  8. I run 11/42 and the standard 102 link chain is perfect. Would've expected your one-and-a-half link to have been just right if you took a link out first. Have you got a link extractor? I should be at Kinlet and can bring mine. Any chance I might bump into a certain young man from Hereford?
  9. What size sprockets are you using Malc?
  10. I fitted the see-through 1997 tank to my 1996 bike which had a black plastic tank. It was a perfect fit. What other parts are you thinking of? As I recall there was little change between the 96 and 97 bikes.
  11. Am alarmed that I find that curiously attractive; is therapy available?
  12. There's usually a brave soul who takes everyones' fuel cans to two designated stops around the course. Have fun. I've enjoyed it for the last couple of years but can't make it this time.
  13. Just some ideas for things you should check. Is there enough fluid in the master cylinder reservoir? Is the master cylinder leaking? Is the hose in good condition and tightly connected at each end? If all of these check okay it could be the slave cylinder seals, but these are pretty problem free these days and an 08 bike should still be fine.

    Gas Gas Throtle

If you have a Domino throttle and the throttle tube is white then its a quick one. If you already have the black (slow) throttle tube you may want to look at other means of 'softening' the motor such as a head spacer or flywheel weight, if not already installed.
  15. Glad you've got it sorted; it can be a real pig of a job the first time and I wouldn't want to do it again! Certainly since 2008, and maybe before that, Gas Gas have been using the magnetic drain plug as a filler plug to give double protection from unwanted particles.
  16. Two things can stop the shaft going fully home; the spring has slipped behind the shaft or worse, one or more of the needles has come out of the bearing. Been there, done that and burnt the T shirt! Jim Snell makes it look so easy in his video.
  17. Hey Jake, oops sorry, Mike, a burger van might swing it! All joshing aside, Mike and the boys put a lot of thought and effort into their trials and this one, like he says is at a fantastic venue. The forecast is set fair so there's no need to wait until Sunday to decide if you're going to ride. Save a quid or two and post it off today. I'll see you there.

    Rough Idle

Cleaned the carb lately? Sounds like its due for one.
  19. It probably not a good idea to 'fiddle' with it until everything has been serviced and works as it should.
  20. Attach the hose banjo to the new case. Fill the 'top hat' piston with fluid so that when you push it over the spigot in the new case there is sufficient to fill the case and push fluid up the hose. That should push any air up the hose so it doesn't lurk in the case. Fill up the master cylinder reservoir, put the bars on right lock to make sure its higher than the hose and 'tickle' the clutch lever to get the remaining bubbles out.

    2005 Raga

Sorry Scotty, I clearly need to brush up on my speed reading skills. No, I've never encountered that problem. What's he running it on?

    2005 Raga

Yep. If he's got the separate reed block its not so bad because you can just buy the later aluminium Raga inlet and easily renewed rubber inlet tube. But if he's got the all in one moulded inlet and reed block its much more expensive to replace and sort out. I reckon he'll have the separate reed block and inlet rubber which was used on the old 96 370 that had a big Dellorto carb. It didn't fit the Keihin that well even when it was new.
