  1. Try Topfun at www.topfun.com Gaerne soles at 34 Euros - Don't know how that translates to Hong Kong dollars though When I was in Hong Kong you could get a pair of shoes made overnight, so getting a pair of soles fitted shouldn't be a problem for you.
  2. I've just broken the kickstart lever on my 2003 280 Pro and nearly fell off my chair when I was quoted over
  3. Just for info, I fitted a Cooper rack to my wife's Renault Megane and had no problems. The towbar is rated at 50Kg and I used to carry a Yam Pinky so probably greatly overloaded the bar. I have now fitted a towbar to my company Mondeo and that has a 75Kg rating. However, the Mondeo towbar does not seem as sturdy as the one fitted to the Megane. The carrier seem to flex side to side much more - possibly as the towbar arms need to reach further from under the car. The Megane bar is a box section and the Mondeo is two flat steel bars. As for fitting to a company car - just don't tell them and take it off before it goes back . All new cars have mounting holes for towbars and it only takes about an hour or two to fit.
  4. Scores - Can't be 100% certain as captions on Eurosport were not always that clear. Albert Cabestany - 4 Adam Raga - 8 Takahisa Fujinami - 15 Dougie Lampkin - 19 21 March I've corrected the scores after seeing the full results
  5. Just finished watching. Dougie fived the first two sections so no chance of catching the rest. 1st Cabastany 2nd Raga 3rd Fuji 4th Lampkin Fuji gets second place in the championship.
  6. Final lap will be shown on International Eurosport via the Astra satellite at 8:00 (9:00 CET) for 1 hour. Information taken from Teletext on Eurosport. This is not the same as British Eurosport shown on Sky.
  7. Sorry about that - not too good with this cut and paste thingy 525 is TY175 1975. As I said I can't guarantee that it is 100% accurate.
  8. Got the following information from various sites. The year can usually be found from the frame number. The first three digits of the frame number identify the type and year. I can't guarantee that the info is 100% accurate but it's a start. 434 1973/4 TY250A 493 1975 TY250B 525 1975/6 TY250 516 1977/8/9 TY250 59N 1985/6/7 TY 250 Mono 4AJ 1990/1 TY250R Mono Fo photographs of the various bikes try http://www.ty.motorradklassiker.de/html/des250.html
  9. My wife knackered hers skiing last year and the doctors said the same thing - no repair possible. It all depends on the severity of the injury as to whether they will operate or not. Best to avoid surgery if possible. I finally talked her in to joining a gym to try to build up her leg muscles to support her knee. Lots of work on the hamstring and leg press machine and she managed skiing this year without any problems. Apparently the hamstring compensates for the weak CL and stabilises the joint. If you search the Internet on Google you'll find lots of rehabilitation exercises. Good luck and hope you get better soon.
  10. Sent mine in a month ago and still no reply. They've not taken the money from my credit card yet either so there is an up side
  11. Get yourself a copy of Trials + Motocross News form your local newsagent. It is published every Friday with a list of trials meetings in the "whats on" section. They usually list the phone numbers of the organiser and a quick chat with them should get you sorted. Most clubs welcome new members and for your first trial you don't always need full ACU membership. For a list of local clubs you could look on the ACU website at www.motorcyclinggb.com and then look under the ACU directories tab. Just type in your postcode to find clubs in your area.

    Boots

I bought a pair of Gaerne Balance Pro-Tect boots from www.topfun.com a couple of years ago. I'm only a novice rider and they are still going strong - hardly any wear on the soles. They sell for 175 Euros plus postage and the Balance Oiled sell for 232 Euros. Even though the exchange rate is pretty poor at the moment and P&P isn't that cheap, it is still quite a saving on UK prices. So much for a common market The negative side to purchasing overseas is that you don't get to try on before you buy and it doesn't keep your local dealer in business. In my case I didn't have a local dealer that stocked the Pro-Tect boot, so I had to buy through mail order anyway. They came as fast from Spain as they would have done from a UK dealer.

    Carb Icing

Hi Dabber - I guess you were at Back Cowm same as me, -2
  14. I come from road bikes with electric start that always needed throttle. I bought a TY250 a few years ago and used the same throttle technique and never had a problem. Not touching the throttle and leaning the bike over seems to have done the trick. I've not altered the jets - plan on seeing if I have problems fisrt.
  15. Thnks for all the replies. Took the bike out this weekend and started first or second kick every time.
  16. Just finished watching the Hong Kong round on Astra. Commentator mentioned that the Sheffield round will be shown on 9th Jan at 08:00 (not sure if that's CET or GMT) and that the round in Riesa, East Germany on 20/03 will be shown live. Previous announcements stated that both the events in Germany would be shown live but Koblenz wasn't mentioned this time. Best to check the teletext listings as the programs tend to change regularly. Just checked the Eurosport website and it shows the Hong Kong round being repeated at 19:00 CET and Sheffield at 13:45 CET on the 13th Don't set your video timer and blame me if the times change , just relaying Eurosport information.
  17. Yes, I agree that the world is going mad. My son is entering a few diving competitions. I can understand why I need to register to use a camera or video at the local swimming pool comps but not for a sport where the children are fully clothed. It doesn't stop the real problem people but just makes the rest of us feel guilty for wanting to keep a record of our children's development.

Quarry at Whitworth is legal and is open every weekend -

    Practice

Redeye The Bradford Trials web site has a list of practice gounds and maps to get there on their information page. Take a look at www.bradfordtrials.co.uk I practice at Back Cowm in Whitworth near Rochdale which covers a huge area and has lots of different terrain. Andy The last website (that shall remain nameless) had a "Places to Ride" topic. Any chance of that being included in Trials Central?
  20. Thanks for all the replies. It was around freezing point when we both had problems. Investigated reasons why lying the bike on it's side may help and found the information on the following web site. URL=http://www.owners.heskethmotorcycles.co.uk/technical/dellorto%20PHF%20carb/dellorto_3_3.html]Dellorto tuning[/url] It looks a though lying the bike on it's side raises the fuel level in the float chamber which increases the amount of fuel through the emulsion tubes. I've not had chance to do much on the bike this weekend and the weather has been quite mild. I'll give your suggestions a try next time it gets cold.
  21. Have any of you experienced trouble starting a GasGas? I have an 03 280 Pro which is difficult to start when cold. Once it has started it runs fine and when warmed up it will start first or second kick. I run unleaded fuel with around 75:1 mix. I have stripped the carb, cleaned the jets and the choke is working OK. The jets are as recommended in the manual. The plug is clean and I have checked that there is a spark. A mate of mine has an 02 250 Pro and he also sometimes has trouble when his bike is cold. My previous bike was a TY250 and that almost always started first time so maybe I have been spoiled! Do I just need a stronger right leg????? I am tempted to try a platinum plug to see if the bigger spark will help. Anybody with any experience of platinum plugs?
  22. Another picture taken on a simple camera (to go with the simple owner). Canon Ixus300 - as other people have said the trick is to focus on a point where the rider will end up and try to anticipate the shot. This was taken at the final round of the British championship last year at Back Cowm. Some incredible riding from Jarvis and Lampkin.
  23. I had the same problem trying to find numbers and backing. Eventually got the stuff from a shop attached to a go-karting track in Milton Keynes. Try www.fastrack-karting.co.uk.
  24. It took me around five minutes to figure out what Gavin was trying to say. Here's what I think he meant. "But not in a gay way" is a phrase that I first penned, so why are other members using it in their posts? Please think of a phrase of your own. This coincides with the league tables for primary schools which show that a poor percentage of children at age 11 actually reach the Government's target standards for English. Posts such as the ones generated by Gavin (and many others) confirm that this is the case amongst older children too.
