  1. I noticed 5 auctions for the beta parts all finished with the same buyer. The buyer has zero feedback, please let it be somebody messing the guy around. Would love to know, send me a pm if you know anything please.
  2. Never mind legs aching, it's arms and hands I struggle with. I love the picture Jason, I'm restoring one of those stripey Beta's as always loved them but never had one. Back in the day I used to do a few front hops to, I remember doing about 5 and thinking tjis was good and then saw a video of Mr Finn doing loads so went out to try and match him! I never looked quite as good but then he did show them in slow motion on the video, things always look better in slow motion!
  3. Yes, I bid on the original auction and was highest bidder. He did make contact once the auction ended saying I had got a bargain. I then waited for the goods to arrive and nothing. I sent a couple of polite emails and then he stopped replying. I warned him if he didnt send goods I would have to make a claim and also would leave negative feeback. Still no response so I went through the whole Ebay procedure who refunded my paypal in full inc postage. I hadnt noticed the seller left some nasty feedback under a positive so I emailed ebay Saturday and I just had an email to say they have removed that as it breeches their policy and have taken action against the seller. The items listed under the new sellers id are undoubtably the same person. I notice all the Beta items have a bid against them, it isn't me but I hope that whoever it is is giving the seller a bit of his own medicine back.
  4. Hi all, I bid on and won some TR34 parts for a good price recently but the seller didn't send them and I had to open a dispute to claim my money back. Item was - http://www.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT The items have just been relisted seperately by a new member, here is one of them - http://www.ebay.co.u...=item33815cacc7 The parts are easily identifiable and are obviously the same. The seller has also made the same errors in the listing showing his ignorance to what he has (Beta never made a TR250 and they are not from a crosser!!!!!) I believe he didn't honour the original sale as they didn't fetch what he wanted so he left it a while and is trying again. I feel annoyed I didn't get the parts I bought and took me ages to get my refund through Ebay. I have looked but I don't think I can report the new listings to Ebay. Al I can do is let you guys know he is not to be trusted - BEWARE.
  5. Cheers Nick, this post reminded me I need to sort mine out. I dug out the renewal and MCE wanted £210 !!! So went online and got a quote from Bennetts - £180 getting better then carole Nash £132 - better still. Out of interest I then went on MCE site and quote was £111 !!!!! Didn't want to give the robbin gits my money though so In the end I went on go compare and got some for £91 through a broker with Aviva. Just hope I never have to claim.
  6. Yep, just checked and it is 200 cc. cant paste link from tablet but go beta uk-technical info-1988-tr34-frequently asked questions.
  7. look on beta uk site, they have a little info. I read it last week as buying a tr34 tomorrow I'm sure it said 200cc per leg
  8. Sorry i cant help you on cc of the bike, it is most likely a 250 or 270. As for what to check well with a bike of that age everything ! In their day they were a well made bike as good as any other of the same era. Some of the things to look for on old Beta's, footpeg brackets can bend, break or come loose where they bolt to the frame. Exhaust can rub through on tyre, Check rear shock damping adjustment works, linkages can wear as on any mono with this set up. Front Paoili forks are good, make sure mudguard brakets are not cracked where people slide them up for more clearance and clamp up out of grooves. Give engine a good run to check fan cuts in when it gets warm, thermostats can go as can the fan motors. Back brake pedals bend easily too but can be sorted cheaply enough.
  9. Don't know the shape or size but try and get a small step (2' perhaps) and then a gap and another. You will then have to learn the technique of riding up the first step and carrying the front over the gap before balancing on top of the two pieces.
  10. Goodness me - 3 pages of discussion on how to keep a worn out MT43 on the rim, coming off the rim is doing you a favour, it needs to come off - permanantly. Seriously you have two options. Option 1 (strongly recommended). Buy a new tyre. The MT43 are not good at the best of times, however yours IS worn out, you don't judge a trials trye by tread depth or marks in the middle etc, the edges are rounded, good light or bad I can see that. Option 2. If you must keep it then simply put a tube in.
  11. Well done for observing but surely here lies part of the problem. I could ride your section totally non stop using deliberate dabs to get round tight parts for a 3. The the next guy hops and stops, should be fived and gets away with a clean. How's that fair? If there's a set of rules we should stick to them, it's the only way. If it's still not working go back to hopping, the clubs can still run either at club level. But this is getting away from Ben's point. Ben I agree 100% with you and well done for airing your views.
  12. My goodness what a pain this has turned into for you. Reading through it sure looks like you know what you're talking about and I would imagine that if it was something simple you'd have found it long ago. So where to go now? Basics... Compression, fuel, spark. I reckon the compression you have should be enough. Fuel, well you're getting a wet plug so should be ok but to make sure give her a squirt of wd40 and a few kicks. That'll at least rule it out. So that leaves spark...My first thought as was yours is flywheel key. Mainly due to how you described it stopping the last time it ran (unless it nipped up) Yes it sparks but is it in the right place? You've checked the key though so could electrical gremlins cause a timing problem? I once had a 96 Beta that ran backwards if the connector to the black box got damp. Pull all the wires, clean and check earths etc... but better still see if you can get the loan of another bike and swap some bits over. Good luck and keep us posted, it's bugging me!
  13. What a great video - thank you for sharing.
  14. I don't see those points being any more vunerable than on any other makes. Having looked at the pics and spec I'm really loving this bike though. The shock offset is unconventional to look at but makes great sense when you consider the benefits - bigger air box, easier silencer routing? Easy adjustment and maintainance. I'm sure it is tucked in enough to not bother you whilst riding although I see an opportunity for a trick little sxs carbon shock protector (i'll let you have that idea Mr Saunders, just remember me when I'm a customer!). I'm really looking forward to riding one to see if it goes as good as it looks. I think they have presented a very well finished and innovative bike. For me the Ossa was perhaps a little too radical for us trials riders tradional tastes, a little bit too different maybe. Jotagas is more conventional looking with some very neat well thought out features. Having Jordi Tarres input has obviously been hugely important and he is a fine abassador in the sport, as is Steve Saunders, another shrewd move from Jotagas I think.
  15. So today is the day the bikes are revealed at the show!
  16. Sorry but that's not one that I'll be visiting.
  17. That's why I didn't offer the postage on Ebay? !! Do you ever get down South? Nationals or East Yorks 2 day perhaps?
  18. Having sold the car months ago I've decided to sell the rack - It's on Ebay now (appologies if I've broken forum rules here - please delete !) Ross - did you sort yours? Sorry I didn't notice your reply, I can help with more photos if needed. Ebay listing
  19. Thank you for the suggestions. I'm suprised there's camping at Hawks Nest, any details of the site, how to book etc...?
  20. Hi, Can anyone recommend anywhere that some friends and I could go for a weekend of Trials practice with overnight camping facilities?
  21. Buy some Tyre Soap you tight gits
  22. I rode the event in the over 40's class and time was pretty tight. I helped a fellow rider who'd run out of fuel pushing him from the last group to the fuel stop. By the time is got sorted is dropped a fair way back in the running order, the only way I could make time up without rudely pushing in was by passing a few riders on the road but mainly by barely looking at the sections ! Not ideal but it worked and I finished with just seconds to spare. This did However have a big impact on my score, I went the wrong way in one section and nearly did the same in 2 others dropping me from what should have been 2nd or 3rd to 7th. Anyway, moving on from my self misery! My point is that I compromised my score to finish on time, I'd love to know why another rider wasn't penalized for time.
  23. I don't think that it's possible to diagnose a problem over the internet. Sure we could all post a few suggestions as what could be wrong but to be brutally honest if you've not got the technical ability to do the job then please take it to a shop and get it sorted properly. It could be as simple as too much oil in the bore and the bike is 'hydraulic locked' or wrong / missing gaskets giving too little clearance but I think you should take it to a good local dealer and have it checked out, you'll be far better off in the long term. Forums are great for some help and advise but you need good basic engineering practices first.
  24. So are you looking for 20 Osset riders to attend on the noise testing day?
