  1. That is a great point I posted a video on the video thread (life behind the bars) which I thought gave a good insight into the way Bou thinks. I know Steve felt I was behind the times but I feel it is relevant to this discussion. Maybe the question would be how much would you pay to be doing what Bou is doing maybe he has been independently wealthy all along and if just doing it for the pure fun of it - just joking but really I can't see anybody entering the sport for just the money. On a similar topic does FIM pay the teams or athletes for riding in their events in return for all the membership fees it gathers from the trials community around the globe? What sort of prize money is up for grabs at theses events?

    Trs Bike Unveiled

Funny how people make assumptions and then are disappointed when things don't happen. I find sometimes my family has that issue with making assumptions about me getting house work done and then I go out riding instead. I had actually assumed they were planning on getting the full series in before offering it to the public all along and never saw any plans to indicate otherwise... mind you I will be disappointed if it isn't available for sale before year end. Maybe being in North America my attitude is a little different as we so often see great stuff in Europe that never even makes it here so the fact that is coming at all is a pretty cool thing.

  4. I thought I read somewhere that GG owed Adam 110K... one could speculate that was 1/2 a years wages (or maybe a full year) pretty hard to guess. Pretty hard to guess what any of my neighbours make little lone a world top trials rider. More important to me would be if people think they are great athletes and give back to the riding community and from all accounts it sure looks like they are and they do !!!
  5. after I had been riding for about a year a more experienced rider saw my bars and grabbed an allen key and moved them forward... wholly cow what difference went from being all bunched up to way more open and much more comfortable in many ways. Last weekend we had a training day and a lot of the riders ended up moving their bars forward to try different positions, never saw anybody moving them back
  6. Not unlike most sports... there may be a few that make the big bucks but even if those guys aren't wise investors they will most likely need to do something in there 40s and 50s. Unless you are independently wealthy best to stay in school and have a career to fall back on. Given the work ethic of any top flight athlete they will most likely do well at most things that they really put their mind to. Having decent nest egg to get them started into a new direction after riding isn't the worse thing that could happen.
  7. We had a great training day with Jonathan English on the 12th followed by our Drive to Ride event on the 13th. since there is no TdN team this year the funds we raised for the TdN team will be put aside until Canada participates again (hopefully next year). Pictures can be found here: https://dualsport.smugmug.com/2015-Ride-Reports/Trials-NS-Drive-2-Ride-2015/ Scores:
  8. Haha - told you so ... maybe I should use my crystal ball to pick stocks instead of trials riders future.
  9. 27 pages of pictures here: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/your-backyard-trials-setups.498211/ Enjoy
  10. I really think it is one of those things that it is worth spending a little extra on and if you are a casual driver it will last. I am way too casual but I sold my 2002 TXT200 this year and it still had the original Michelins on it (not X-lite) .
  11. There is even a survey... looks like Mich is the winner http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/11893-what-make-of-rear-tyre-do-you-use/
  12. More data points for you... http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/56028-tyres/page-2?hl=tyres I'm sure a quick search would find numerous more threads as it is always a popular topic...
  13. Not hearing the click - check the video from aussiechris above at 7:46...
  14. What cc's and model's (factory, racing?) were your bikes?
  15. I'm confused your profile say's 300 Fantic... ???
  16. If you really want to continue then... If you look closely at the picture the bar that goes from one side of the top hat to the other sits in the slot cut in the end of the shaft that it sits on. When the bar sheers off it still looks fine but it just turns in the top hat without turning the top hat ... at least that is what I think people are trying to say.
  17. When this happened to me I dropped it by the shop and had it fixed in no time... I used to love taking things apart and putting them back together but the easy stuff is relatively cheap for shops to do and they can do it while I am at work. Really I am just getting old and lazy but if it where me I would load it up and have the guys at the shop spend 30 minutes on it... I'm sure they would appreciate the fact that you got as far as you did.

    Trs Bike Unveiled

Interesting that Rising Sun Imports (past USA importers for GasGas) where quick to pick up the distributorship for USA I am assuming all of the GasGas dealers in USA will have TRS on their floors when production starts. Pretty smooth transition really... almost as if the whole thing was planned out a few years ago
  19. Don't worry about borrowing a bike and trying it... people in this sport are dying to get more people into it and are more than willing to let people "have a go". I was letting everyone ride my brand new Sherco when I got it. These are not shined up trophy bikes these are real work bikes designed to take a kicking and keep on ticking. drive a couple of really tight circles a few figure eights pop a few wheelies and stoppies hop up and down on it... you are not going to hurt it. My very first experience on a trials bike was in the dealer parking lot... I went to shift gears but not being used to taking my foot off the peg to shift I lost my balance and did a head plant into the pavement - everyone had a huge laugh!
  20. good little write up from TrialsCanada.com http://www.trialscanada.com/fim_usa.pdf
  21. Use google or bing to translate... here is the first post in that thread Hi, am new here, have a virtually new gas gas 200 Randonné, gently drove only 450 km, electric tempering sounded than how resinous and last electric motor has rotated through empty, kickstart has then usually no longer accessible, dealer has away mounted a left engine cover and we just looked: a case for dentist, practically all large gear teeth shaved away. Dealer says it was exactly the same as in an other Randonné 200 stands in the shop, which has even only about 200 km. Dealer says it is construction faults, electric motor was to strong gas gas will correct this despite older than 3 months warranty, gas gas change what Starter electronics. Now I've been waiting for a month and listen with horror factory was operating in Girona / salt practically set! What can I do? This thing has after all to the 4'000 euro cost, and is practically new, but totally useless because I can no longer leave it. A few times where I was able to cucumbers around has made it very fun and otherwise fully met my expectations (larger tank and wider nozzle would be super). Does anyone have the same problem and knows any workaround? Thanks for tips, so that I can continue running the engine as soon as possible!
  22. Or go full electric EM5.7 with light kit and a seat would be great replacement for a reflex. Or a Beta XTrainer might also be a fun option with electric start.
