  1. Just to add a rider to you all . On a second attempt to nick my mates CBR RR by the same thieve's whom the cop's caught the first time and let them off , he caught them red handed and gave them a good leathering . He got 9 month for grievous bodily harm ( his first offence ) lost his job ,and so on . If you catch them in the act do 'em good style and don't admit to a thing as that's where he went wrong . Just remember , usually these people have nothing to lose , you have .
  2. " Hi you guys up there on top of the rock's ,just pretending to be a turtle , ( singing ) Hero in a hard shell Turtle power " ! Nice back protector ! Remember that do ya ? Ted .
  3. Yep , and don't know if you noticed , but the really happy man on the next to last pic is growing a third arm he enjoyed himself so much ! Joking aside, that man was a good rider and i watched him on the tight turn exit from the stream section to pick up what he was doing ,and put that to what the instructor was saying and eventually got there in the end myself . Going to see if the 280 pro flywheel weight will fit my bike as i think it will smooth out the firing impulses on idle , so off the throttle turns will be easy to control . Coops , if you want the pic's i'll PM them to you , that goes to anyone whose on the pics too . When's the next one ? Ted
  4. Hello to those of you reading this . Got to say i actually learned a few things , and enjoyed the day . The setting was great . A stream running through a big gully with land drains feeding it ,really grass covered slippery slopes , stones ,mud and dead trees , bankings , you get the picture . Plenty of banter and some fierce concentration , good time had by all (see pictures). Instruction was excellent as was the regard for peoples safety and the instructors . At the de brief , a quick word from Kev from GASGAS uk about bike maintenance . For me , and take note , some excellent advice . He said ,"if you have a problem ,fix it because if you have an avoidable breakdown at a comp ,and your having a bad day , it just compounds your frustration and your meant to be doing something you like " . O.K ,pictures paint a thousand words , and i apologize as i don't actually know most in the few pics . Ted .
  5. Why don't you just try relaxing.I Realize you want to do better . Stop ,take a moment and chat with someone . why give yourself stress with something your supposed to enjoy ? That's not a criticism , just know when i try to hard i make more mistakes . When i think fook it and just have a do , i actually do better . Good luck pal Ted
  6. i too would enjoy what you are telling every one about . Glad to see those that can are making use of their means . Local authority here as in lots of places see to it that all those places we had are now unavailable by putting cycle tracks in that people use every pancake Saturday and a big sign saying motor cycles keep off . Which 4T Oil?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ! Wondered how long before you saw that Chuck . laughed my nut's off at the image of an Elf manufacturing some Excellent oil . Ted
  8. Hey Dedof2 ,how's tricks ? The thing i find strange in all of this , Honda are the only Jap manufacturer still in trials . The Euro bike scene has left them for dead . You can hardly call Beta ,GasGas and them high volume producers . Could that be because the Jap's cant sell us the same mass produced stuff year on year , re striped up , a bike for every one cheapish , with back shocks that cost £4.50 to mass produce . Said it before and here it is again . I marvel at the thinking gone into my Gasgas . The touch of finesse exercised on everything . It look's like a factory bike and good quality . Thing is , my personal view only and i'm choosy , i can see the appeal of older bikes , i like them . In the state you buy them these day's and for the price , trusting the ability of others , knowing what you've got , well not for me . Are they still competitive and satisfy their owners , without doubt , probably down to their owners ability . So what is happening on the trials scene ? No media coverage is one . Don't do it ,no no no don't say it ! you know don't you ! Who will say those two words first ?
  9. About that £5k being smashed on the rocks . Go back and read the very next sentence . Reads something like , "we all know there's more than that to it " . Know your not having a go just quote the lot . As far as people coming in and getting off their a*** and actually walking as spectators from one section to another over distance , well that is probably harder than anything else . Most people now can't and won't walk to the shop or school with their kid's god forbid actually walk near one of those great big leafy things and the green carpet like stuff , that's why stadium's are packed for the likes of speedway and road racing . Them that want will the rest who want a day out with their family with easy access to toilets , food , some where to sit where they can manage their four kids without fearing them dropping off a rock ledge wont . My wife and kid's love to come to a trial . But after two hours , the little one is playing Vikings or Army . Then he want's a ***** and where's the bog's , "err sorry love there ain't any ". Please don't pipe up , i'm generalizing . Like i said there's no simple solution ,not at least without cost . We've just got to take it as it is and make the most of it . Monts , personally think ,the designers got it right ,that's why it's stayed virtually unchanged . Don't fix stuff that ain't broke . 8k + on the rocks ,it's getting better . That's a joke by the way . Good subject Dodof2 Shy t
  10. Think you will have a 250 JTX contact, cant swear to that but without a picture it's a guess . Want to know about it ,go to GasGas USA , Jim Snell ,Rising sun imports . A wealth of information . See it in action on you tube in the hands of Jordi Terres especially the clips of practice in Andorra . There is information available in Spanish too on GasGas UKs web site ( parts manual etc on a download ) or indeed GasGas Spain . My TxT 280 Andorra is a great bike and much the same as yours . Just the brakes need regular service really . Pfiffer did a stunt on your model of bike climbing a quarter KM high rock face. That's how good your bike is . Ted
  11. Hello neils on wheels .How true that comment is and at the last trial i did there was a guy doing stoppies on his Bantam with drum brakes .He was doing the clubmans route with blinding success .Again though your getting cost ,and the joke adage from when i was a kid was "You can get a new one for that ". sticks in my mind Making work's spec anything cost's . Twas i that said about Xsispa and i would not buy one on the principle of quality and having lived out there seen how they work (oh dear ) but for some it might have been appealing . That's why personally i think it's a difficult thing to sort out .If at all possible.
  12. How annoying's this then . No bits in post . Absolutely lashed it down throughout the day so couldn't build workshop . looks like Backcowm is off tomorrow and summer been and gone ( rationed to two weeks here in UK ) but on with trials school next weekend .
  13. I'm having the same trouble and i live in the north .For powder coating i used Triple s in Bingley ,01274 562474 but they're not cheap, that said first rate job . Isn't there anyone in Aberdeen or Montrose Dundee ? plenty of industrial work there . As for the wheels , the likes of central wheels and Hagon have got a reputation that's not so good anymore ,mainly due to the time it takes them , i've called countless places and difficult to pin them down .Say they'll call back and they don't but i have a number you could try . Jones restoration near Chester . 01244 37755 . Also wheelwise engineering in Horsham Sussex 01403 864533 . I'm going to check out the speedway guy's as they have plenty of wheels rebuilt . failing that going to have a crack my self . good luck Ted .
  14. Yes Zippy . just caught it in time by the looks of things .
  15. None taken copemech , your so easy to resist .
  16. To add fuel to this fire - Yes fuel -that dictates the price of everything . People go to work , produce goods ,which burns fuel . Tax is the next . I'm with you on the cost . Who wants to keep smashing £5000 on a pile of rocks for a plastic trophy . ok we all know there's more to it than that but bottom line ,like most of you out there ,have far better things to do with £5k .People have a thirst for technology and that has it's price ,but as far as alternatives go one word ,brand, XSISPA ! What a raging success . A trials bike at a cheap price that's still more capable than most . Hands up who bought one ! So as my mum would say "there's no pleasing folk". Anything, for most ,will not do ! Difficult .
  17. You want everything on paper Ben and ask to stay while they strip the bike . Make sure they measure the clearances ,no second guessing , make sure they don't try and say something wrong and it's not . Mean while do some reading on how you get the measurements , as i said if you talk to ,or send Kev at GasGas an e mail , he will help you , or any of the lad's there . It's difficult because you are so young and people can take advantage of your lack of practical skills and level of understanding but let them know you're not just taking their word for it . Good luck Ben and remember stay polite . Ted.
  18. Stripped the kick start mechanism today . Knew problem had started a couple of weeks ago . But as it goes after thirteen years ,it says something for gasgas quality and now it's out with the problem to prevent failure . Check out the pawl , looks like a hole saw on the tips . On the first pic you can see how the surface has gone on the kick start . This put the kick lever at an angle towards the back ,caused my foot to slip off and put a nice hole in the back of my knee as the compression stroke fired the lever back . That made me say ouch a bit . Then the odd time the lever would miss align and skip down a little . That's enough prompting for me . You would not believe how much crap that's put in the oil .
  19. So he paid for a service and parts by people calling them self professional and as an adult your advice to a 13 year old lad is just ride it . If that was your child and there was an engine faliure which resulted in an off and stitches or a break how would you react ? The chance is small ,but nonetheless exists . Take it back and as they are actually there they get the problem solved . Not looking for an argument copemech but don't think his mother would not appreciate the likes off you and me telling him to go ahead and ride should he be hurt as a result . Ben , ask them to show you what they find . If you can stay there and ask them to strip it . Take someone with you who knows what they're on about. If they measure the clearance between the bore and piston it's measured at the crown (top) and skirt (bottom ) on the exhaust port side as your model of 125 does'nt have a tapered cylinder bore (wider at the bottom of cylinder than top ) so you should have a specification for that . GasGas uk 01298 766813 ext 4 and kev will give that to you should you need it . I take it from your post that the noise developed after the work . Regards Ted
  20. yep can hear that and sounds like a bearing noise over the internet . Without being there could not say at this point one hundred percent .You've had work done professionally . So phone them up tomorrow get your receipt , quote your receipt number and name etc and explain the bike has developed a problem . Be polite . You want a fix not an argument , and preferably for free ,so be rational . My advice to you is put the bike in the van and take it back and see what they have to say . You have paid for a service and for parts ,if one or the other is faulty then you have rights .Just don't let them fob you off .Go about things the right way to get your result . Don't pull anything apart ' because then it's on you . The fact that the noise is there when cold and gets worse when hot says you have a problem . Tomorrow don't mean Saturday ,act now . Good luck ,and be polite remember . Keep me posted . Ted .

    Which 4T Oil?

Is that a news paper heading chuck ! ,as i knew an elf who made some shoes once !
  22. And on this day in history , bought a new kick start kit and will fit it Friday . Trip to BACKCOWM Saturday .Maybe some pics soon . Ted
  23. Hi Ben . I know your only a young lad so will try to explain a few thing's without mixing you up . Did you replace with a full piston kit ( little end bearing ,dudgeon pin , circlips ,gaskets )? Did you measure any clearances ? They would be between the piston and cylinder , and the piston ring (rings) when in place on the piston . That will be the gap between the two ends . You would need to find out from Gas Gas what the tolerance is . You can see in any Haynes manual for two stroke bikes how to measure . Did you fit everything ? Check your work . Every one makes mistakes. It's hard to diagnose over the internet but gather information and your halfway there . Let me know how it's going and if i can help i will . Ted .
  24. Well done , glad to see you pushed on to a solution rather than throwing money at it and second guessing . Best regards Shy t .
