    Castrol R ?

Personal choice i know , after all it's your bike , but my self i wouldn't use it for two reasons beside the one's already stated . Firstly i think Honda recomend you don't use it in any of thier four stroke engines( i recollect they call it an aditive ) and the other the last bike i ran that stuff in was a KX125 A3 which despite being only four meetings old seizd up . Rings gummed up . Ran on Putoline after that with no problems . Agree though that castrol 247 is brill for two stroke use . But the way your stating in your message ,are you using it for motor oil,as you state that would it have an adverse effect on you clutch . Ted Sorry just one thing to add , i ran 247 in my Aprilia RSVR 250 rotary disc valve racing bike for three seasons with 100% cylinder reliabillity . Seems to put a nice coating on everything . To run that as motor oil , or cazzy R could result in a bit of a mess in a wet sump motor. Have you checked out Castrols web site ? Or for that matter ,ring them .
  3. Due to go back away ,but what did i do to our Gas Gas today ? Nothing . My son has broken his ankle ! But but but .....check out the blue Pro for sale at £1250 in Holmforth ,page one of the adds on this site . someone obviously love's thier Gas Gas 250 pro , it's smart as owt (Owt means anything in the rest of the world )but think you guy's would agree it's a gem .
  4. Tell you what i missed , a very cheap 200 year 2k vintage . Set out for the guy's house forty five minutes away and as i got there someone was putting it in to thy're van . But not to worry the misses soon sniffed the cash out and removed it tout d'suit tres vite,(more shoe's Emmelda)
  5. Bob Wrights your man . He's got parts manuals he can copy for you . Ive been trying to get my head around a problem on my fork's inherited from the last owner . Got a copy from the parts manual from him and low and behold , two parts missing and assembled wrong . Hope that helps . Shyted.
  6. Hi Mr Neutron sorry for not replying sooner but ive been away from home with little access to a computer .Well thanks for your comment and the rest of you lad's and lasses out there thank you too . I looked at 37 280's over a period of three months before i stumbled on this little gem . Since my son has been riding that bike it's been up to the eyeball's in ***** week in and out ,under water completely once, I just keep on top of thing's and replace worn /broken equipment straight away . i love the deep finish on the frame . My son spends more time on his i phone 9 , and hasn't really discovered the philosophy of sweat yet , but me , just love riding them there motorcycles and working on them too . Glad to see most of you sorting thing's out with your bike's , and i think this thread is brill . A very dedicated to motorcycle and motor cycle people Shyted .
  7. Was that a clean and is this what they mean with the "non stop "rule . Got to admire skill haven,t you .
  8. My opinion only . Bombard them because these pests dont go away and they dont take no for an answer they just grow and grow . If you step back ,bang they're in . Keep throwing the crap thier way and dont let them throw it ours. Don't know about you , but i ain't one for resting on my laurals . Stick it to them ,and when they've had enough push the m even harder some more !

    Stop The Rot .

Allot less than a new case from Beta , for a piston crown treated with ceramic £65 ,but you wouldn't need anything that harsh so it will be less . When i get to work i'll check it out and let you know . Otherwise check them out . Ok i understand the do it yourself approach but with a good case ,or new case (and cover and indeed the whole unit ) it's a permanent professional fix .

    Stop The Rot .

Read quite a few things on this site about the corroding water pump housing . Cut a long story short ,and if you are willing to stop the rot once and for all . Go in the internet and put in camco scientific coatings . They are based in Warrington Cheshire and have loads of solutions to problems . You can have the contact surfaces coated and they'll be no bother ever again . Have had a few things done and they're not cheap but you get what you pay for and the solutions work . Shy .
  11. Look lads and lassies vote on this even if really your not interested , it's most important . There must be a thousand stories but here's one from a few years ago .During the early 1990s i worked for the AA under contract .Picked up a break down to be returned to the other side of Oulton Park racing circuit . The clients told me this tale .Oulton at that time was down on use . the local hungers saw they're chance and moved in for the kill . Well whilst they were celebrating they're victory ,they got the news broke to them that the land was going to be sold to build 750 houses . Suddenly they wanted the place saved for the benefit of the community . That,s how powerful these people are . So keep voting come on !
  12. It's funny , all the bikes on this thread look brill , despite the various ages . the build quality is defiantly there , some of them look like they haven't been used until you look really close . Yep that's a like from me too . Ted .
  13. Just a suggestion here , phone Lampkins or Aklams up and see if there's a fix or if infact you have a problem . Second , ask them for the values /output at variouse throttle stages so you can start with a multimeter , last but not least check all your earth points , remeber this "VD is caused by dirty contacts "( Voltage drop ). Zeroed in on this as later this year i want a 4t . Keep us posted on your progress , Regards Ted P.S why did you replace the unit in the first place ? If no one else can help , last ditch if you begin to struggle ,give Ferret a call on 07765832420 talk to him .
  14. Agricon , do you have a picture you can post ? As if you can't or don't want to get it repaired ,maybe some of the sites brother hood can help you out ,or maybe it's the same part as one of the XL/XR range whereby you can make do . Just a suggestion . Regards Ted
  15. Fired my sons 280 andorra up ,ran it till fan kicked in and out , changed brake & clutch fluid , replaced gearbox oil , greased all the linkages , torqued the linkage bolt's back up . Finish up tomorrow by polishing frame , refit back end ,check the air filter ,re grease wheel spindles . then try and post a picture on here , that's where it'll all go a bit daft .

    Hmmmm

Before reading the original post for the clutch problem with the rev 3 , looked at my fantic 245 , as i had been having problems with that . Eliminated several problems with it (from the previous owner ) and fitted new friction plates . Horrid ! That would describe the action ,impossible to select neutral , drag like bloody hell . Went away to work and on my trip away saw your post . Got home ,and had the shock of discovering total coverage ( no bare metal at all ) with friction material and glue . An age to clean them up but well worth the effort . Will select gear from cold and find neutral with ease weather hot or cold . Action very good . Learned a valuable lesson there . Good one ! Shy .

    Beta 4T

Thanks for the response men . The reason for wanting one is simple , i like them . However ,liking one and owning one are two different things ! That's the reason for asking the questions . Bit random , but when at backcowm , there was a gang of Yorkshire lad's on 4t Beta's and it's one of those guy's i spoke to . Could that be one of your gang Chris Morris by chance ?
  18. Pictures or not ,buy a universal clutch holding tool from one of many places at a cost of around £20 and it will fit any bike you buy after that . If the last person who had things to pieces correctly assembled the clutch assembly ,then they would have used a torque wrench to secure the center nut . T bar with a handle extension (a pipe ) the correct size socket , lever the lock tab back , and use the tools . This simple operation will save you tearing your hair out after you've broken the basket plate guides , and the hassle of getting a replacement . Bit puzzled by the hex socket bit . To me that's a pipe fitting . I'm guessing you mean a nut . Treat your self Best regards Ted

    Beta 4T

Quite fancy a Beta 4t later this year . Would like to know from those of you who have experience with said bike ,good or bad ,problems ,problem free . Late model old model best and worst . Really don't know a great deal about them apart from they look neat and i had a brief conversation with a guy who had a new one last time i went to Backcowm .
  20. This subject includes every one who's open'd it. You may not think so when you read it because you don't live on the I.O.M . Trust me , when these people (walkers, bunny huger's and the like ) start on something they will try every trick in the book to get what they want . Subject in hand for those of you who it concerns , the peak district byways . Land confiscation coming to you one day , then you'll need support so vote for them even if you never go to the Isle of Man . VOTE VOTE VOTE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Don't take a step back or these people will take a mile .
  22. Agree on that 0007.A far more usable, robust machine (KDX) Just don't pay through the nose for an old bike . NSR was a very good bike at the time but the RG was the head banger's bike all that rotary disc valve inducted kick in the ass power ,yum yum !
  23. Keep you're £1800 in your pocket . Let some other mug try to get that magnesium casing that breaks when you drop it , assuming it has the correct case on and not a YZ case for £1800 . Buy a 10 year old KTM , and have fun . My mate had an IT when they were new and sold it after a month ,bought an XR 200 new and had it for three virtually trouble free years of balls out abuse . Walk away !
