I've been to the riding school for the last four years and hopefully many more to come. Its a great day out and theirs always plenty of laughs. You go away with a better understanding of riding trials. Although putting it into practise is something else.
Doug's demo at the end of the day was just awesome, although it did make you think about giving it up. The high point of the day......well it had to be Whit's cheeky comment, If he's going next year book me in the same.day.
Priceless.
And great photos Andy.

What you on about the soles are totally worn out from being constantly trailed along the ground.
CK
PS White you big poseur. Do your self a favour buy gaerne, in pony skin.
-
An excellent 3 days of trialing, can't wait for next year. At times it was a bit tough especially Sunday morning. I wished I'd taken it a bit easier on the fizzy lager on the Saturday night. Well done Richmond.

You can buy my old pair for

To be totally honest Doug is going to have to do some seriously fantastic riding to retain his world title and hope the others slip up. Who knows the likelihood of that happening but one things for sure he will give it his best shot and battle till the end and I will be 100% behind him. With a little bit of luck Doug could be on top but so far things haven't gone his way. Well not until now.
Viva Doug!

The new Montesa looks ace, I hope it performs as well as it looks. It looks like Montesa / HRC are throwing down the gauntlet to the other factories.
The Montesa 4 banger is the most awaited trials machines for years. Lets hope it doesn't dissapoint.

I was going to suggest that the new Airoh helmets are due out very soon. As worn by Mr Lampkin. There supposed to be very small and light.

Boydw,
I don't mean to return fire but are they an add on or are they standard? In the past all the 125 Scorpa's I'd seen only had cable clutches and to me that seemed a bit dated. I would say they should fit them as standard as you wouldn't expect it on any 2 stroke.
CK
PS they used to have a smilie shooting a machine gun, which I was going to use in my reply. I suppose the nearest one they've got is cupid firing an arrow. Which doesn't seem suitable. People might talk,
:cupid:

Marky,
you can get replacement soles from Gaerne. But the best thing to prevent soles wearing out is keeping yer feet up!
CK
Why do you think I get through so many pairs.
-
Cheap price and cheap quality. After having a pair of non stops I've reverted back to oiled Gaerne. My non stops looked wrecked after one outing. I've had my oiled Gaerne for about six trials and their still in top condition. The leather is of a very high quality. Its false economy to buy Alpine Stars when Gaerne last so much longer.
CK
PS Their not white are they?
-
Yeah I was refer only to Montesa. Its good to see Scorpa making a commitment with 4 bangers, but to be honest the bikes seems to use dated technology, eg cable clutch.
-
When I say there isn't one I am refering to a factory production four stroke. The one that was rumoured to be competing in this years SSDT. I don't doubt there are R & D versions out there. But how far are the public away from getting their hands on them? A long time me thinks.
-
How about the fact there isn't one!
-
Colomer's got a new prodigy Fajardo who is definitley one for the future. It was a mystery why Colomer was riding round with Fajardo and not competing. Retired through injury?
Doug on the second day was absolutely awesome. When he cleaned section 2, much to the crowds great delight, you just knew it was going to be his day. Then he went on to clean section 7, which seemed almost impossible, using a different line to everyone else. Pure magic. He was on fire and everyone sensed it.
The most unlucky ride of the day most have been Sam Connor on section 7. He got through the hardest part of the section on 1. Apart from Doug no one else came even close. Then on the final part of the section his bike died on him causing him to 5 what looked like a fantastic ride.
All in all it was a great weekend, some awesome riding. Wasn't Laia Sanz an excellent rider. It is no discredit to any of the riders to have finished behind her. Blazusiak also looks a much improved rider and could be a big surprise this year.
All in all I think its going to be one hell of a year. But having watched all the riders I believe even stronger that Doug will retain the crown, Fujigas will once more finish runner up. But 3rd spot I'm not so sure on.

I'll keep a look out for the red polo shirts. As for the pints of Guiness, well it would be rude not to.

I'm running the risk of resurecting an old topic, but hands up if your making the trip to good old Bangor for the start of the WTC. It only 2 weeks away.

Richmond club trials are always superb. which is reflected in the high number of competitors. Well organised in some of the best trials terrain in the country.

Marky,
your posting looked so lonely without any replies so I'll do the honours and reply. (Mind you I think your communications skills need improving. What does '+ actually mean?)
Yes I'm doing the Cleveland and can't wait till Sunday. Is your good self participating?

Anything to do with the Montesa 4 banger? Otherwise Sam Connor.

I rode in a trial today for the first time after fitting a slow action throttle and its like riding a different bike. I can't get over how much better it is. Didn't pull my arms out, no problems with grip, in fact its the best I've rode for a long time.
I'm very, very impressed.

I'm not the most mechanically minded person, so I'll follow Big Johns advice and try the slow action throttle for starters.
Thanks

Just synchronising my watch.

I'm finding that riding my 290 is really pulling at my arms, does anyone have any suggestions for softening the power off a tad. To avoid me having forearms like Popeye. I'm thinking off fitting a slow action throttle.

Spraying the underside of mudguards with WD40 helps stop mud sticking.

What a top idea. The only problem is I've a really old dodgy nokia mobile. The type which would be fairly useful as a weapon, has a lead acid battery and comes with a back pack for carrying. I suppose I'd better get with the times and upgrade.

PS Who's giving away TC stickers? I could put a few on me phone.
