  1. I would advise caution with this statement ! Just because you read it on a web site ,does not necesarily make it correct , does the person that wrote it realy know ?
  2. Hi I have changed the head angle on three frames now, even got a jig to help do the job. but not sure its for everyone,It seems to suit riders that still ride modern bikes, or who have just changed from modern to twinshock. I know one rider that did not get on with it , and another that thinks its the Dogs B____cks. (but he rides a 4rt as well) So as with moving the footrests, its all a personal preferance.

    1976 Tl 250

    Tlm 220?

Definately not 260s Disc front brake ,and all white, so may be late model 220s ,
  5. Hi Paul I have emailed you a picture of the frame ,before it was painted, Not exactly Whitlock bronze welded is it? what do you think ? Mike
  6. Paul ( sore point ),you are calling me a liar You have stated the frame and tank are not Honda made, how come you are 100% sure from a photo ? send me you email addess, and I will send you a picture of the frame before it was repaired and painted, with the chassis plate still attached. As for the most important part of the bike being missing,I take it you are refering to the chassis plate ?, NO not missing, just not fixed to the bike when the pictures where taken . OK the seller could have gone into more detail about what components the bike has, But he has been truthfull about the genuine parts. I do not know why he called it a RST. He built it so I guess he can call what ever he likes ? What should he have called the bike then ? There was another poster on this forum, that run the bike down, presumably to discourage bidders, then suprise suprise ,guess who bidder three is ??????????
  7. Hi Paul only offensive, in as much as as some are untrue, If you read the listing carefully the seller states what is original, OK he does not say what is replica, Surely finished bike is no more botched together, than what your replica will be ,true, it is built from Honda parts, some original to an RS,some not. But what parts are you using on your Yamamto replica,a RTL motor,so will your bike not be similar ? I know mine will be ! The hard fact is some RS parts are hard to get.especialy motors. I have previously stated here that the frame is Honda,so is the tank, you seem intent on stating they are not, purely based on a photo,I have had both items in my hands ! And somebody must have taken the chassis plate off,to get the frame painted ? that person was ME, so am I a liar? at least he did not call it an RS250t ? RST250 well that cant be genuine can it ? What should he have called it,it is an RS250t frame ? If you put a RTL motor in a seeley,is the bike no longer a seeley ? As for needing to see a genuine original RS250t,well I only have to go into my workshop As for comparing the headstock, with a Whitlock one, I think you have the bigger headstock one ,dont you ? there is a smaller one that is identical to original. so perhaps thats not the place to look. Mike
  8. RogerRoger' Hi Jim As I understand it we have: TL200 1980 (very similar to RS200T) RS200TS 1981 (ugly one, frame based on XL185) RS200T 1982, 1983 (beautiful one, early ones have steel swingarm, later ones alloy like yours) RS250T 1984? (like the one you want!) RS250TA 1985,1986 (Home market TLR250F, like yours) All built by RSC that became HRC in 1987 The above base on what other people have told me, so all of questionable reliability. Any corrections welcome. Well done for volunteering to set up a register! Roger I dont think Jim has volnteered yet ? but keep twisting his arm. The RS250T was 1983,with maybe a few made 1984,have you seen the one with the blow moulded plastic tank ? Are you sure about the RS200TS being 1981 ? and not 1984 ? (This is the only one I dont have a parts book or any info on ) Mike
  9. 'Beamish Owners Club' I know very little about the history of the Honda RS range and would be very interested to know more. Does anyone out there know how many different models were produced and what volume production runs were done? Were they all built for the Japanese home market or for some other purpose? Is there a RS register or club? Jim Its a bit confusing,as Honda have used the RS prefix for other bikes especialy road race bikes, I take it you are reffering to Trials only ? Could you be the man to compile a register ? As for trials models Works RS360t, TL200r RS200t (I think you have one ?) RS220t RS250tf RS200 with the partialy pressed steel fame, and ugly rear fender RS250 taf a TLR style bike (I think you have ones of these as well ?) As for volume The TL200/RS200 parts book lists the RS alloy s/arm from serial no 2511 . knowing a little about Honda numbering ,I would guess they started at 1001, so could it be that they made some 1,500 TL200`s ? RS250tf, A Honda press release for 1983 anounces two new models the RS250t trials bike and the RS125 road racer, with the total production for both bikes as 500 , so it could be a 50/50 split ?, but I would guess the road racer sold world wide,so perhaps there where more racers than trialers ? Perhaps someone else can add to this ,or correct it ?
  10. Jim I have had this frame in my hands prior to it being powder coated, as you know I have a Whitlock made frame, and have owned several Honda made RS models 200 and 250 so do know the difference I even know the frame no ! It starts RS250TF - 12?? Jim ,it is a genuine Honda made frame, with the rear loop removed.
  11. Just for the record The frame is definately 100% NOT made by Mick Whitlock, It is an original Honda made RS250TF frame with the rear loop removed, the reason the rear looks like a Whitlock frame is quite simple,it was trimmed back by Mick Whitlock, and it is a 250 frame not a 200, (there is a difference !) And the seller who built the bike is not called Paul ?, but he was one of the best Grass Track riders of his era . It looks like he built the bike based on a similar style /spec to the Yamamoto works bike in the Honda museum, which ended up with a later motor in it. I dont know what you would call it, a RS special ,or works rep maybe ? Please take this as fact as far as the frame is concerned !

    Tlr200 Kickstart

Mikeee They are OK, and cheaper than an original, but not as good as the Honda made one, for just a little extra you can have an original.
  13. Did the Gollner mod's only go as far as the frame or was any engine tuning carried out? I've heard a rumour about cam and gear ratio tweeks but may be just rubbish. Hi 4stroke No not just rumours, but I think it was only the 200cc bikes that got extra attention, cam, gearing and front forks. Bob Gollner also sold the modded 200`s in twinshock form, with the one piece tank unit.
  14. Hi kimpybugalugs your TLM200r is a pukka trials bike, there is also a 220r,240r ,250 and a 260 the trail bike idea may come from the TLR 250r which is a trail bike and completely different to a TLR250f trials If you get realy stuck PM me as have a nos rear fender, that i dont need anymore hope this helps.
  15. Jim The TA one will be difficult to modify, first it is on the wrong side, middle box may be a problem, front pipe inlet will certainly be in the wrong place / angle remember the RSt frame is narrower, especialy where the centre box fits Mike
  16. Jim Simple answer,NO, the RS 200t and RS250t model use a unique silencer system,up the right hand side as you know best to get an aftermarket Wako ,made for the bike The RS250ta uses a TLR rear silencer. Hope this is of some help.
  17. Hi Superhondaman Leading axle forks where standard fitment on Royal Enfields, dating back to pre 60, so I guess they are. But I think you are refering to much later forks ,so thats up to the organisers ?
  18. Hi It sounds like you have the wrong kickstart,or maybe you have long footrest, the kickstart should miss the footrest, they usualy start reasonably easy, but a short swing wont help, hope this helps
  19. stevie the 250 has a smaller tank and seat, straight pull spokes in the hubs, with bigger diameter brake shoes, very slightly longer forks and rear units, and most importantly, apart from the extra 50cc, trials gearing. And one more thing, usualy double the price,or more
  20. Both the WES and the DEP need carefull lining up when fitting, especialy the WES,as it easily rubs through on the inside, with the rear tyre. Look at most used WES rear boxes, and they have a repair where the tyre has rubbed , its close on the shock at the front and close to the tyre at the rear The DEP is a lot easier to fit but may need minor tweaking, and clears the shock and tyre OK, DEP would be my choice of the two. I believe there are also some WAKO style systems that should be available later in the year.
  21. Lee not quite sure what you mean about vracked, but if you are refering to the side gusset plates wrapping arond the headstock, then yes this is correct.
  22. I think you will find its not even Yamaha ! RL Suzuki
