    Tightening Spokes!

Plenty of Plus-Gas or similar on the nipple then grip the spoke with a pair of mole grips whilst trying to turn the adjuster. If they're really seized the spokes may snap so it may turn into a bigger job!

    Tong

Contact David Hoare at Parkwood Outdoors Ltd (Home Farm,Tong)on 01132854356. He's been allowing bikes in on Wednesdays all this year.
  3. My experience has been IRC's for the winter.(Softer compound, good in the mud and slippery stuff), Michelins for Spring onwards when it's a bit drier and grippier. Not much to choose between them price-wise. Getting back off this thread (sorry Bob!).The Lada Niva was an excellent car. One of the first 4x4's. Hopeless in a straight line but would go anywhere off-road. Bumpers built of 1/4" plate steel!
  4. Hi Motomax,I don't think we have Klotz in the Uk so can't comment on that. I've used Ipone (very sticky) and Putoline in the last four years. The Putoline seems ok but I guess one good quality oil is the same as another if you have the mixture right. If you're bothered by the smell the you can get a strawberry scented Putoline; though hard to distinguish on a damp sunday morning amongst 130+ riders in Yorkshire!
  5. Fill it in, send it off now.You should get your '06 card back within a few days.

    Brake Problem

The brake lever adjustment is very important. If it's set so there's very little movement at the pedal then when the rear brake heats up after riding for a while the fluid expands and locks the pedal up.Somewhere on the internet there must be some technical details regarding brake lever travel for specific bikes.
  7. I think you'd enter in the class you are going to move into next year if you want any win points to contribute to a club championship.

    Gearbox Oil

Change the gearbox oil, check the coolant level and ride the bike.Nothing is going to happen quickly. If you find you are losing coolant with no apparent external leaks and /or your gearbox oil level is rising then suspect the water pump seal. Check the gearbox breather pipe for signs of emulsification (white frothy deposits). The water pump seal is easily replaced. Some amount of frothing is usual when the engine is running so leave the bike a good few minutes after running before making judgements on the gearbox oil level and ensure the bike is on a level surface when checking.
  9. Does the ACU actually not give licences for trials on Remembrance Sunday or is it a voluntary thing amongst clubs? The Hook Woods club ran a trial last sunday which raised a lot of money for charity but I don't know why more clubs don't organise something for the saturday. Horsforth and District MCC have the Bob Owen trial the day before Remebrance Day and it's always really well supported.

    Spare Rear Wheel.

Seen the ones at Haven, they look fine but thought they were for Gassers only. Is there in fact a universal rear wheel?
  11. Had a '79 one. Sold it for
  12. Colley DVD not available til March '06 according to Duke catalogue.
  13. If you're going specifically to look at trials stuff then you'll probably be disappointed by how little there is.Last year the organisers said there would be much more for trials enthusiasts than in previous years but there was'nt and probably won't be this year. Save your money!

    Exhaust ...

Very common with gassers, I've had brackets repaired several times on my lad's last two bikes. Part of the problem is that even a new middle box will not have the mountings very accurately fixed so by the time it is levered/bent into position the mountings are all under tension and if the bike is ridden hard these will crack in time. It's all part of the joy of owning a Gas Gas.
  15. When you are riding or for a few minutes after you switch off the gearbox oil willl appear to be cloudy because it froths up while the engine is running. Leave it a good while before you check the condition or level of the oil.
  16. MPM Thanks for that. I'd never taken any notice as to how much the spring was compressed but I'll use your info as a start point. Thanks.
  17. Found the two locking rings on top of the spring on the Ohlins rear shocker had come undone and nearly wound off the thread. Can anyone tell me what the basic starting position should be in terms of position on the thread? Thanks.
  18. Try Haven Trialsport 01469 532600 North Lincolnshire.

    Which Gasser?

Nigel, do you think the bikes ridden by the people you mention above bear much resemblance to the bikes purchased by us mere mortals? When I bought my son's first Gas Gas the supplying dealer said "if you're riding it you'll love it, if you're paying for the repairs you'll hate it" and he was right! After umpteen gearbox rebuilds, new clutches, broken rear suspension linkages (none of which happened with his Montesa or Beta bikes) I'm heartily fed up the gasser. Fine if you have factory or dealer support.(and I'm being a bit careful here)!
  20. Apparently the number of trade stands was limited by the organisers to 15. This must have included the burger vans etc.
  21. Forgot to ask. Anyone know what happened to section 12 on lap 2?
  22. Just got back from a great weekend. Well organised, great atmosphere and some stunning sections. Let's hope L&M Events and the Bradford club have done enough to warrant a world round in England next year.
  23. A dismal night due to the weather and I believe there was no trials display.

    Fork Seals

In my experience around 3-4 months is a good life for Gas Gas fork seals. They certainly seem to wear out quicker than on other bikes.
