  1. MTB helmets are not road legal. Worth looking at Demon Tweeks, they have some wide opening helmets.
  2. May be a better idea to contact the very helpful Martin Mathews at - www.motoswm.com he may well have them ready to use.
  3. And if gii thinks it's a problem with a modern pogo stick kettle bike at 70kg, try a real British Pre 65 4 stroke !! Stand clear.....
  4. Keep him on his bike, best thing we did with our son. Builds all the skills and strength. Enjoy watching him.
  5. Charlie, Never give up on BSA 's just some take longer to sort Not seen many finished ones rolling out of Chez Charlie, all that time making things for Rio :-(
  6. What bits are needed to convert a standard engine into a short stroke ? Anybody have contact details for Mick Dickinson, makes heads and barrels ?
  7. Agree with Suzuki 250
  8. Try the very helpful Martin @ motoswm.com am sure he will be able to help.
  9. know a chap who was followed home, he now always goes past a place where his mate works, who have CCTV ,so have cars on tape.
  10. While not a member of this club, I must say what a great read this topic is. Well done all of you. I always tell my wife, my bikes are good for my health
  11. Ken, lovely looking. How about a picture of the other side ? What is it's wheelbase ?
  12. Club trials - easy sections Centre trials - testing sections National trials - hard sections Trouble is club trials still worried about taking marks of expert riders and club riders giving up after 555555 or I have to go to work on Monday sections. This same problem in Pre 65, Twinshock and modern events. It's not the lack of riders it is the people marking out who are the problem.
  13. £25.00 entry fee £5.00 spectator entry + £2.50 entry list 60 entries, not like the old days :-(
  14. Half the weight and twice the price, still dent if knocked. Cheaper answer is for the rider to put less fuel in the tank or eat less......
  15. Don't give in or we will kill real bikes. Keep the faith and things will swing back our way.
  16. Dave, Try Terry Weedy, he does petrol and oil tanks and lots of other good bits.
  17. I run 18t on engine, 52t on clutch, 13t gearbox and 64t back wheel that gives me 14.4:1 Hope that helps.
  18. Well done Somerton Classic, another great classic trial on Saturday and Sunday. The Mendip hills in the sunshine and a friendly crew at the helm. Sections to allow real bikes to show what they do best, don't see many pre-unit and rigid bikes these days so a joy to see - Ariels, Nortons, AJS's, Matchless as well as Greeves, Cub's, Bantam's, Sprite and C15's and c40's. With over 70 entries, let's hope more clubs keep true classic trials going for classic bikes.
  19. Anybody on here riding one ? What is it like, did you build it and how was that, is it better than a Faber Otter ? Any photos ?
  20. Stripped thread - get it Helicoiled. You can buy kits on line, for not a lot and I bought a multi size kit over ten years ago and come in handy many times. I used an Ossa front end on a BSA and made two inserts to convert the BSA steering head to take metric tapper roller bearings. Simple and quick, worked well for many years. Have fun with your C15, great bikes

    Rear Shocks

A good place to get Mr Pickering shocks is from Mr Pickering. Rock shocks are very good and can be tuned and rebuilt, so last a life time.
  22. Subject to size, try Yamaha TY 80. Both my boys started on them, cheap to buy, don't devalue and parts cheap and easy to get.
  23. Never had that problem, may be I don't keep my feet up enough......

    Wheels

A pair of ali Cub hubs with back plates, cams and shoes £450, add rims at £90 each, spokes at £45.00 per set and £35 per wheel to build. So if that is new cost, used less than that, depending on condition. If you used Cub iron hubs, you can still pick them up for £30, then other costs the same.
