  2. Hi, I run a jitse filter on my sherco 2.9 - it has the corse side out and the yellow [fine] inside? i have seen pictures of one on a website and they all look like that.plus the red foam rim is on the bottom. Might sound stupid but - has it been turned inside out when someone has washed it?Pictures of one on Trialsbits website

    Ty175 Problems

Hi, 240 is the std size according to my Haynes manual - try the ingnition timing, made a vast difference to mine.
  4. Got to agree with Dabster - new tyres with the beads touching are a nightmare! One tip i was given - get a old inner tube -car/bike - place in tyre and really blow it up as much as you dare - leave somewhere warm over night - then fit - hopefully a new tyre should go on as easy as a old one.

  6. Just out of interest - Who were the 2 members and what was thier usernames? Are they off TC now? Fully support Andy and his stance - if I ask a question, and get a reply - Buy a knocking shaft washer bolt off ABC bikes ltd GB, that will cure it - I hope it is not because the guy is trying to sell one. This site is a mine of great info -Lets keep it STRAIGHT
  7. I went to my local police station [ knew they had some use ] had to fill in a form with some ID for a check on the frame NOs of my ty, they did the check but it came back with no result, at least it wasnt stolen. They said I could inquire further with the DVLA as thier records are sometimes incomplete especially regarding older bikes, good luck
  8. Now now Malcolm each to his own, i,am not man enough for those things I,ll go by what Lee said - BLOODY HARD WORK! Cheers

  10. Hi, you can buy a rim tape from any trials shop thats is on line or phone, I had this trouble and got the following tips off here -1 As was said the rim must be spotless - apply waterproof grease over the spoke heads, under where the rim band sits -2 make sure the band is seated and evenly tensioned on rim - 3 some people say to leave out the spacer on the valve but dont over tighten - 4 the beader they mention is a rubber ring to help seal the tyre when inflating, if your lucky it is not always needed. I went the easy route and put tyre sealer in as i didnt want to take the tyre off again, but as your tyre is already off, try the tips mentioned.

  13. Hi I accept the thread was aimed at pre -65 / twinshocks, but as i said i was interested in this because of ridden in a classic trial. As i said in my first post, if i am given a 5 for stopping, its because i am usually on the floor! not hopping, no problem at all.At the last Wye valley classic trial, it was combined, due to a previous cancellation of a rd, with a centre championship rd, just imagine - 3 routes - about 8 different classes - 2 sets of rules - one set of observers - sounds like a recipe for chaos, but every thing when really well and a good ride for all. P.S To O T F, if i manage to beat any of my mates on twinshocks, i know i,ll get the usual - ITS A NEW BIKE - from them, when its the other way round [ normally] they just laugh and say - GET A PROPER BIKE ! ejoy your rides Cheers Dale
  14. Hi Been following this topic and think i can smell a wiff of bike bigotry/apartheid. Let me try to explain my reasoning - I am a o-40 [nearer 50] mono sportsman rider who rides with mates, mostly on twinshocks [LFS 4 P no less] who could,nt hop skip or flip his bike even if you payed me. We all rode the Wye Valley Classic trials [great people -great venues - great fun] because they had a class for 0-40 on monos, possibly to help with numbers? My idea of a great days trialing is - riding with your mates, having a good banter and a pint on the way home .The observers used the clipboard method of marking, so i dont know what i lost until the results come out, any 5s that are on there are because 1- i fell off 2-missed a marker 3- stopped, and when i say stopped i mean STOPPED, not trying a 90 degree backwheel hop, so you would get no arguments from me whatever system of marking was being used. The point i am trying to make is not all mono riders in classic events PI** about or cheat - [see previous posts] just because they ride modern machines.I also have a TY, but if there is a class i can ride in on the Sherco, i will, simply due to my preference. P.S. i wont mention cheat bikes, ooops just did.
  15. Hi, you will have to take a test to drive anything over 3.5t if you pased after 1997[practical and theory]
  16. BELOW 5c !!!!! bloody hell,i see you are from Sweden so must be used to the cold but i would have thought even the softest tyres are like iron at that temp!

    Gearing

Thanks for all the replies - Alan - 10t is standard so i have got one availible to put back on - the reason i currently run 11/42 and thinking 10/38 [same?] is i found i never used 1st in sections and now so used to just clicking down dont want to change.Luckily i picked up the chain was fouling the clutch slave be fore any damage. Thanks

    Gearing

Hi, Thanks for both answers, but both can,t be right? Copemechs maths sound right -not my strongest subject As anybody tried 10/38 gearing?

    Gearing

Hi, i run 11/42 sprockets on my 05 290 which suits me fine,i took the flywheel cover off to clean out, and found the chain had put a nice little groove in the clutch slave cylinder! I think i can remember 1 tooth front = 4 teeth on the back? So to stick with my current gearing i should run 10/38?As anybody tried this?. I have a Renthal chain fitted so possibly thicker side plates? Thanks
  24. I must of been lucky to get a letter FOC from Yamaha Now all i need is 6 numbers on Saterday
  25. Hi, I run a 11 tooth front - the reason being i found 1st too low, if you had a bit of nadgery stuff then a climb out say - would run out of steam and i prefer not to change up if poss,so geared it up and got a bit more legs without losing out on the slow stuff.Sprockets only about a tenner so experiment away
