  1. 05 280 pro. -No problems, had it since feb. -im a beginner dont ride it hard, -look after it, wash it and dry and and make sure the spokes dont rust. Only problem i have had was when i put synthetic clutch fluid in....and had to change all the seals... OUPS Im sorry but being in the scene a while i get back a vibe about each bike, - Sherco's seem to have had a fair few problems with stator plates ?? - Beta's have had dodgy wiring ? - Scorpas.....skoda's...... ? - GasGas... light but poor build quality ? But these are all people's opinions... and with so many people out there... no one is truely right Make your own decision. I love my GG its pretty, and does everything i want it to ! but then again i do end up cleaning it all the bloody time... i just respect it too much !
  2. An alan key, I strongly suggest that you download all of that video ! its really helpful and describes it all. But the clutch basket isnt hard to remove but you need a tool to split the cases, but you can do it without if you use a rubber hammer and are careful with flat bars to pry...etc ..etc. hope that helps Matt

    What

on the usa dvd manual, jim refers to the edition as the 'economy' model. Take that as you will, I have a pro and the gearbox is rather noisy but i suppose thats the price of having a smaller gearbox that only needs four gears to make six ! dont let the folk tales put you off just my
  4. ah well R2W maybe next time ! I believe that the hole is for crank case breathing....pressue from each side of the engine. well i thoughts thats what the dvd manual said,... .. it would be a good idea to put the correct bolt in because if the clutch basket moves it could do damage..??? anyway i dont like the idea of a loose engine component !!
  5. yep, replace with two 1.3's sounds good to me, altho im alittle baffled to why you didnt remove the clutch basket sean ? its only one screw in the centre of the basket, then you could have done the work on your bench and kept all the fillings out of your GB. Ah well, glad its getting sorted though ! Matt
  6. Cheers FF and Steve, I did this in my dads unit ! ...he was alright about it. FF there isnt any bolt i can see, on the outside of the fork is just the bleed screw. I can't see a big bolt like there is on the Pro Forks, Steve, yes there upside down.. paiolies. what a daft idea....upside down you'll scratch them on a rock ! Ill take them into <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> as i want the seals ordering. But i dont want Ginner to do it because, -I want to do it, i want to learn -its fun -And im doing this bike to a budget and already spent
  7. No you don't have to drain the coolant. The water is contained within the two pipes and the water pump housing. There is a seal on the engine side and a gear from the crank turns the water pump. Dont undo the kickstarter bolt fully, after you have loosened it turn the kick start 90 degrees as if your going to get it ready for kicking..... but keep turning to 70 degrees. This will crack the kickstarter and make it easier to take off. Once its all loose you can pull in the clutch and it will push the case off of the engine..... ... you get that? does it help ? Matt
  8. try here, great site lots of info http://www.gasgas.com/Pages/Technical/Home.html
  9. Right, So im rebuilding my '92 GT25, ive been logging the engine on the mechanical section but the past two nights i've been taking them apart. - Spring fork - took the bleed screw off and pumped the fork...stupid...old minging old all over my work bench... clumpy oil.... bad stuff ! - took cap off,...more rubbish in there, and the plunger that screws into the chrom stachion ?? (spellt wrong) wasnt screwed in...hence why it didnt work properly - ABSORBER FORK !! - this one is rock hard and i thought it was the fork with the spring in it...which had broken...it isnt..... -...so take off the bleed screw...my little bro want to do it...fair do's....well it starts bubbling...then SHOCK !! ruddy thing starts SHOOTING OIL OUT !! every where, all over me my brother, the wall and the ceiling ! i couldnt believe it, funny now but the oil stank really bad !! -- ive got the forks apart, but the absorber im having problems with, got the top off, the dust seal, holding ring, and when i try to pull the forks apart to push the seal out, like i did on the other it wont come out !! am i doing something wrong?? i put alittle heat in it,....some penetrating oil and no avail....hmmm ??
  10. I've lost a sole in my 2stone boots, would these inserts do as a replacement? Cheers

    2003 280 Pro

i have a 05 280 pro, and i handle it alright, It is my first modern bike and i am abit of a noob but i did have a couple of rubbish skips when i was 15 my 280 doesnt have any mods and i've handled it quite well with time you just have to be careful with it....you control the beast at the end of the day ! Try riding it see if you can manage it if its ok.... cant knock it till you've tried it suppose if you wanted to modify it....you could -Add the weight as said by ham2.. -slow action throttle -retard the ignition..can you do this on the pro's...only done it on old bikes -head spacer..which you already have ! Hope that helps Mat

    Fork Springs

Dakota, if i take your question another way..... i do have some new old stock gasgas fork springs. I bought them off ebay and i have no idea whether they fit my 1992/93 GG.... if they dont then ill be willing to sell them to you if gasgasuk dont have any. I cant promise you if there available anytime soon as i havnt even touched the my forks yet, but i will soon. Matt hope that helps.. .... mad this internet thing...with so many ppl and so many different interpretations and responses...... new psychologist graduate shutting up now
  14. Thanks for the replies guys, i will have a look and see, i tightened the clamp on the bar and hasnt improved it to be honest. i'll get back with what happens
  15. pop rivet it back together ??
  16. I'll tighten up the clamps and make sure the bars arn't moving
  17. AS above really, I came back to my bike after a month at uni, and noticed when i held the front brake and compressed the forks a squeek developed. It wasnt there before, i put my hand on the headstock and the vibrations seemed to be coming from there. I'm guessing that i just need to nip up the bolt above the top yoke, (the one below the handlebar) ??? Its an 05 pro and ive got a video manual for an 03 pro so i imagine its the same procedure ??? Cheers ...well thinking about it the noise is more of a click..rather than a squeek but im sure it does come from the headstock Matt
  18. It was good, A nice evening trial my first one actually ! the sections were really good, section two was really tricky ! but i made the most of those daps !! i wont mention andy290 on section 8
  19. I wont take that as a lack of my ability to do sections !! Its not that complicated to get there, cheers for all the help appreciated ! If you go on stuff like multimap or google maps you can acutally get a postcode for the area your looking at, which would make venues so much easier to find...just type it into autoroute ! Right see you there tonight ! p.s. do i say Ginner to his face ? ive started calling my ginger mate Mr Weasley from harry potter !...cos hes got a ginger girlfriend ! ...well i thought it was funny
  20. Right then, From my thinking, its next to wombwell wood, but on the right if you come op Dovecliff road from the roundabout. from looking at that map ! Sorted ! now just to change my story completely ill go from Brierly as that is where my bike is kept now ! haha But i know the other way as its towards my mums house (where i live) God i make my life complicated ! Cheers Guys really helped, esp. Telecat ! thanks !
  21. Cheers for that, yes it does help but what am i going to wombwell wood ? and not doveclife woods like the ad says ??? Mat
  22. I plan to go and ride tomorrow night, but im unsure of how to get there. I asked the Ginger Mechanic guy at <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> and the directions were hard work so i thought id check i've got them right in my head ! For simplisity ill go from J36 on the M1, 1-Come off @ J36 going towards meadowhall/from wakefield, bear left and go into birdwell, 2-continue into birdwell until you hit an carshop...(something Auto's. dont have the written directions with me) 3-turn right just before the shop, and continue down the lane, 4-keep going its on your right at the bottom, i'll see the cars I think thats what he said, but i think ive missed a right turn out between 1 & 2...sorry i dont have the directions that i wrote down with me. Is this right or am i way off ? Matt
