  1. Check your local rules obviously, but generally speaking the loop is part of the event. You have to ride it the prescribed number of times. Typically you can start at any section, but you then have to ride sections in order. If you're saying that someone is riding each section 4 times in a row (or however many loops you have), once for each loop card, without riding the loop or completing sections sequentially, that's totally illegal around here. Or anywhere else I've ever seen a trial run.
  2. Why does Jitsie still include the wrong bolts in the link guard kit? GasGas has been using countersunk bolts at the back of the skid plate for I don't know how long, but they still include standard bolts.

  4. My miniature version (although to be fair the pic doesn't do it justice... it's a 2 foot gap. I'm pretty proud, lol):

No, there's no Ice Hell anymore. Ostensibly, the Vertical is the replacement for the Camo and the Ice Hell, although it's way more Camo than it is Ice Hell. I suspect that the Fajardo replica essentially takes the place of the Ice Hell in the middle of the range, and the Ti bike continues as usual.

They've been like that for at least a year if not more judging from the betas I've noticed recently. Guess they decided to lengthen it and not bother changing the pipe.

The issue isn't the cost, it's the prices relative to what they were the prior year. If a Camo was 6000 last year, but the Vertical, which is essentially just a Camo, is now 7000, that's a pretty good bump for the same equipment year over year.

I'm not sure about pricing... if the Vertical is indeed the same price as an Ice Hell was, then yes, they've raised prices. But as far as the lineup goes, what they've done makes a lot of sense. The Ice Hell didn't really have much need to continue to exist in light of the Fajardo replica. But if everything went up in price in the process, I think they're going to price themselves out of the market in short order.
  9. The new one might have a different tip profile than the original, which could explain some of the difference. Put them side by side to check.

See? It's broken already, and you don't even have one yet.

I haven't really heard of any major recurring issues. The kick start return pin actually came out on mine and jammed in the primary, but this seems to have been a very odd one off occurrence. The cases in mine weep oil as well, and this seems common on all the ones around here. There are a number of them around now, all with lots of hard use.

So I'm currently living in the US, and I'm curious... since GasGas 'went away' and has now risen again, what's the feeling towards the brand in Europe these days? For a long time GG was probably the biggest seller around here, but they've largely been displaced by Beta's, TRS's and Montesa's. Are they still selling well elsewhere? There are obviously a decent number of choices these days... but for whatever reason, I really get on well with the GG. Not having a lot of other people on them now though, it might be tough to go with another one.

But presumably you did need a special threaded insert to get the sleeves out in the first places, yes?
  14. Move him up!
  15. TRS (sort of) specs ATF. So does Vertigo. Lots of people have used it in the GG over the years, although I prefer a heavy gear oil in mine... makes it shift a little less like a lorry. I'm pretty sure Sherco specs a 75W gear oil, so you might just want to stick with that. But ATF is used in a lot of trials bikes.

"Same as last year's mechanically, but now twice as ugly!" just doesn't really work... The truth is hard sometimes. It's not like Beta is any different than anyone else of course. You can't expect revolutionary change from small manufacturers either scraping by, or not devoting a lot (if any) resources to a niche market, which is why the only big 're-designs' (or at least, different designs) come from new players. I really was expecting fuel injection though! Why the heck did they move the rectifier again?!?
  17. heffergm replied to allymo73's topic in Beta
Amazing how they can take the beautiful red frame '13 Beta and turn it into ugly.
  18. Kind of the same way if a 2-stroke motor were better for trials there would be one in Bou's bike? Manufacturers do a lot of things because they fit with company politics. I'm not saying one clutch is or isn't better, I just think Honda likes to do its thing and isn't really worried about anyone else, so it's probably not a good means of comparison simply saying 'Honda didn't do it, so it's not better'.
  19. heffergm replied to medeiros494's topic in TRS
Well, it's a preview of Jessie's RR, not necessarily all of them. The fact that the frame is in pieces kind of leads me to believe they pulled the bike apart to either send it out to be chromed or to polish it.
  20. heffergm replied to medeiros494's topic in TRS
    Good grief... I really hope that's just a one-off.
  21. heffergm replied to medeiros494's topic in TRS
Yeah, I didn't mean stanchions, I meant lowers. I just don't like the black. As for the Reiger, the one on the RR has separate rebound and compression, but no separate high and low speed compression adjustment (I believe... I could be mistaken, but last I saw one I believe that was the case). Whether that's referred to as a 3 or 4 way these days I can never remember.
  22. You don't need a pro to answer the question... there are plenty of guys around that ride at the advanced/expert club level that can show you.
  23. heffergm replied to allymo73's topic in Beta
Huh... I've never noticed the intake noise. The fan on the other hand...
  24. heffergm replied to medeiros494's topic in TRS
I'd be surprised if they changed the frame color. I actually quite like the white myself. The only change I'd really care to see is a 3 way Reiger rather than the 2-way, and some not-black fork stanchions. I don't expect you'll see many changes on the '18, so at this point the only reason to choose one over the other would be balancing whatever discount you can get on a '17 vs increased resale (if you plan to swap bikes in the near future again) of the '18.
