  1. To totally derail this thread: I love GG's, but I really don't like that they're putting Ohlins shocks on them now. I also really don't like that they're 500-1000 USD more than a Beta or Sherco, the latter of which I can get with a Reiger. Since they're all worth the same money after a year... The bigger issue for me now is unloading year old GG's at decent money. When they went under for a year, everyone here that was on GG (which was a lot of people) bought TRS's, and no one is inclined to switch back. Beta and Sherco both have strong followings as well, so unloading a used one is a lot less problematic.
  2. I think I see what you're getting at now and I totally get it as someone that typically buys a bike every year. Case in point, my local dealer recently offered me a new Sherco at factory support pricing. While the difference in absolute dollars is great, I'm more happy having received such a nice offer from the dealer, which is why I keep buying from him.
  3. GasGas typically offers a big discount on outgoing models around here if they're still around when the next model year gets released. This shouldn't be a big surprise for anyone, all vehicle manufacturers do it to move inventory.
  4. You wouldn't. And if enough people feel the same, guess what? Nobody buys GG's in your neck of the woods, and the market corrects the problem with an out of business importer.
  5. I'm always a bit confused by these arguments. If you walk into a dealer, he offers you what you consider a ridiculously low sum for your bike, you walk out, what's the problem? Capitalism is about voluntary exchanges of goods and services that benefit both parties. If you feel taking part in the transaction is net negative for you, you walk away. If enough people feel the same, the person trying to do business either needs to modify the terms such that people start to feel otherwise, or they go out of business, either because they can't monetarily work a deal that benefits everyone or because they're unwilling to do so. The market fixes all these problems itself based on demand and willingness of all parties to arrive at an agreement.
  6. Obviously GG prices may differ in local markets, but here everything is pretty much equally expensive. Welcome to trials!
  7. You have to jump. Like, bend your knees, touch your ass to the rear fender, and explode up kind of jump. The bike doesn't do all the work, as much as we'd like it to. Your second throttle input is also too weak and a little late. If your weight is still on the pegs when you do your second burst of throttle, the bike isn't going anywhere but forward. Give it another 1000 attempts, that's about how long it takes to figure out... probably more actually, depending on how old you are. I've lost count. One thing you might want to practice is your static zap. Since you're stopped you have a lot more time to really think about your timing. Obviously start smaller https://youtu.be/N6o-k0ISfSA?t=64

    19 GP.

Racing and GP. It's the new Braktec monobloc on both, no idea if it's the same as the TRS.

  11. I guess you missed last season??? Other than Bou winning almost every event he turned up at, it was fantastic. Busto won, he beat Ragà at least twice, Bincaz and Gelabert generally kicked ass, and the mid pack overall was fantastic to watch as you were never sure if the kids or the old guys would come out on top. The qualifying system is great, the venue setup looks a million times better than previous years, and I think they did a great job. France even looked momentarily poised to win the TdN. The stadium was on it's feet after the second round, and so was I. I'm excited for this year. I know old school trials riders don't really get indoor, but I love it.
  12. No. Luckily, internetz: https://www.x-trial.tv/en-int/page/pricing-x-trial
  13. Right, because Beta isn't infamous for their own variety of clutch issues...
  14. It's certainly possible they got a batch of fiber plates that are swelling, it's happened before. Going to Kevlar presumably eliminated that possibility, which is as good a reason as any to do it.
  15. I have an '18 (and I've had a '17 and a '14). It (the stock clutch) is perfectly fine. There was and is no problem with them... they've been the same design for eternity, if they were broken no one would buy them. I've also put Xiu (kevlar) clutches in a few of my GG's, and they work exactly the same... There's little difference in feel, provided the clutch pack is the same thickness as the one being compared to. The adjustable preload ring on all bellville spring bikes that have one works by the same principle: it's a stepped ring, so you pull out all the retaining bolts, spin the ring to line it up with the setting you want, and bolt it back on. And yes, this works exactly as it should on the '18. This is a Xiu adjustable ring, but the one in the '18 is the same thing but a different color.
  16. A slow throttle tube is a cheap fix if you find it a problem at first.
  17. This isn't a hard decision. If you've ridden before, and you want something to have fun on that is suitable at almost all skill levels, get a 250.
  18. Published 2011: In his book, “Exploring Global Landscapes of Litigation,” Christian Wollschlager notes that the litigation rates per 1,000 people shows that European nations top the list of the world’s most litigious countries. Here is a list of the top 5 most litigious countries by capita: Germany: 123.2/1,000 Sweden: 111.2/1,000 Israel: 96.8/1,000 Austria: 95.9/1,000 U.S.: 74.5/1,000 The Top 10 also includes the UK (64.4); Denmark (62.5); Hungary (52.4); Portugal (40.7); and France (40.3).
  19. I've used the Xiu fingers as well. No modifications to anything.
  20. I've put Xiu plates on my last two bikes. First time I've seen that.
  21. I still don't understand the problem. The only difference between the Xiu fingers and the stock fingers is that they're cut out more for oil flow. The way they rest between the pack and the pressure plate is the same. There's no reason the Xiu fingers and stock wouldn't be interchangeable between packs.
