Ahhhhgggghhhhh - You knew!
I bottled this year. Every bugger disappeared from the National route last year and left a few fat knackers like myself, not being able to drink more than three pints for fear of death cramps.....
My main worry was that the mass exodus last year prompted a stiffening of the National course - I was only just hanging in there by the end of the day as it was
So this year I will be entering in to the spirit of things
-
Cheque was cashed yesterday - we got an entry - YES!!!!!!!!!
Booked the hotel today.
See you in August.

Looking back on Ebay, there's been one fairly tatty one which reached

My 9 year old lad said Adam Raga.
My 8 year old lass said Takahisa Fujinami (but I think now she's learnt his name she just wants to use it )
Makes no difference to me what bike he's riding, because I'm double his weight and I kill Gassers, literally
I need longevity, and at the moment, and for the last 3 years, touch wood, I have the most reliable bike I've ever had - Sherco 290. I can carry a few extra kilo's.
-
On a slightly more serious note
Do you feel you've lost anything from that?
I've been trying to use 1st gear more, as I'm reliably informed I'm meant to, but my old brain's not having it.
I'm always in second, just wondering if knocking the gearing up a bit would maybe help me out just a bit.
-
Thanks for the reply, I'll not bother then.

Cruel. Don't listen to the nasty man K

Yeah - I was going to mention the cooling. Not quite up to what your standard enduro bike can handle, but if you're a lightweight you probably won't have too much trouble.
With my 18 stone (and a bit) I regularly feel a little guilty and ease up on the old girl up the big hills, but other than that had no problems even with the longer events.
-
Wasn't it Consett club?
Remember the one you're talking about Gaz, but I'm as senile as you
I'll see if my old man remembers - if he does, I'll stop drinking Strongbow it must be wiping my brain. In fact sod it, it's too late
-
And what about the wild haggis, they could be wiped out.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Haggis are mammals so unaffected you fool.
You ever seen Haggis eggs??? No...well there you go

Mine is definitely groggy at 50:1. Much sweeter with less oil.
-
I normally put about 130ml in a 10 litre fuel can. I use baby bottles to measure the oil out, and mark a felt pen line on it for those drunken stupour prep nights with brain fade
-
I found that mine ran pretty hot on 50:1.
I thought I was doing the right thing when I first got it, but it definitely seems happier at around 75:1

A Jock who knows when to keep his mouth shut?
Come on, where were your parents from? You've got to be hiding some family secret there

Club just sent through revised results. From what I can see it is the addition of the final positions for the over 40's and the 125 class, and somebody found some riding glasses.
Thought I'd shove it on here as the club made the effort to get them put out so quickly.

No left brake?
What's that about?

Here ya go, not a great photo, but may give you an idea:
This is totaly knackered. Took it too far really, but this was clicking like hell towards the end of the trial.
Put a new chain on it and chances are it would crunch and take the ends of half the teeth off.
-
I rode number 1 a couple of years ago. I know what you mean - totally different trial
-
Hopefully most will be able to open them in this format (Excel):
Bugger. Hang on. Not allowed Excel. Need to convert it.
Here we go - pdf:

Sounds exactly like a worn (hooked) front sprocket. Have a look at the front sprocket. Does it look symetrical, or is it like an ocean wave (if you know what I mean). If it's worn, under power you hear this noise as it just grabs the chain as the chain releases on the under-side.
The front sprocket gets used approximately four times as much as the rear one when you think of it, and the pressure on it is much more than the rear, so it tends to go first.
Everybody always says replace your chain and sprockets together.
I would say never replace either sprocket without the chain, but you could possibly get away with new front sprocket and chain if the rear sprocket is still tidy.
You have to do it if you're running two rear wheels (unless you're made of money).
-
Apologies - this should be on the front page - rushing to get them on here, before I go out.
My only involvement was observing this year and I dashed away early to get bike ready for Victory Trial, so I'll leave any reports to someone else who knows what went on. In my book you're all nutters, no matter what they say, especially the passengers

I left my email address, and they said they'd forward the results to me today. When they appear I'll put them up on here.

Did you see Doug riding at Hawkstone last year? There was a section at this event, I think it was number 12 that had a massive hill climb (wasn't used for lap 2)Only Doug, Fuji and Freixa got anywhere near its crest, so the 4rt can level big climbs but what cc engine's are the works bikes.

Yeah - seems surprising that the short blips are where you find it better. That seems to be the area where the big boys have found it lacking. They seem to be able to give it a bit of a snap from a standing start, but seems to be lacking on consecutive hops/blips up steps or banks. Top end power they seem to be thriving on.
I remember Fuji trying to hop on the rear wheel up a steep plane, and it seemed to lose a bit of power on each hop until he eventually stopped.

What you saying? Good beginners bike, but change if you want to win?
-
Your driveway is shinier than my bike

Sorry John - I was confusing things - I should have quoted the post that my reply referred to. He was talking Gasser.
You're right 10:42 is standard Sherco
