    Chain Length

Do yourself a favour for the future - buy yourself some Trialcast or YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE large snail cams. They give you enough adjustment to get rid of half links forever. Use a grinder if you've not got a chain cutter, just grind away the right bit and knock it out with a centre punch.

I suppose the point was the shop I was at only had a 43 blue talon and I didn't want a 42 gold. I don't really do technical. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Going from the standard 11:42 10:41 is the same as going 11:45 so it's just a bit less severe than the change to a full 10:42 1 tooth at the front is worth 4 at the back roughly.
  3. To be fair, he did say that the adjustment wasn't as good. Maybe you don't need it - I haven't. This is sort of in danger of turning in to one of those my mates bike arguments, where everybody makes decisions based on the few local experiences they may have had. You are bound to get problems with every manufacturer from time to time. I had one of the worst Gassers ever (a bad 02 Pro). I now have one of the best Sherco's ever (a great 04). Doing last years Novogar, my 04 Sherco with 18 stone on it was consistantly far more reliable than my oppo's 05 Gasser with 12 stone on it, including strangely two broken suspension units on the Gasser. This again is just isolated local experience. Everybody who wants a horror story about one bike or another can find one. Gasser tanks leaking - sometimes - seen a few - also saw someone use the wrong length screw and pearce the alloy (no names). Was this the case in all of them, probably not. Wiggy's making a plastic tank - maybe that's the way? Sherco main bearings - not seen any problems at all locally, but the rumours are strong enough to believe that maybe there's no smoke without fire. Or is there? Gasser clutch - mine disintegrated twice, they don't quite seem as rugged as the Sherco, maybe??? Gasser water pump??? Hmmm...could well have been down to my half speed fan so maybe rule it out. Gasser barrel rechrome - Maybe some **** got it? The airboxes used to be poor - better now? Sherco weak electrics/timing??? Thought that was Beta but a few stories knocking about recently, so maybe there is a problem? Got to take everything with a pinch of salt. Anybody who says one bike is massively better than another is probably talking ****e and you may not find out without owning one and seeing how it suits you.
  4. Still no clear answer on this point, can a rider downgrade. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Still no answer. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think your question has already been answered: If they're downgrading themselves, then they don't fit in to the statement above.
  5. I applaud your ever increasing neck with getting the plugs in Desperado But I'm not convinced that another route on the A&B nationals is the way to go. There are enough riders of the required ability to try some big stuff and with enough minders around to catch, the CofC has to judge the level of danger involved for the kids. I did Nationals as a youth, especially during the first year in a new class, where I didn't fancy having a go at some of the sections. Some of them I did anyway and found that I was closer to it than I thought, and this experience sometimes takes you up a peg. Some of them I held off, but went away knowing what I needed to aim for. Some of them I fell off and created the ugly mug that now sits above my shoulders There needs to be a balance of sections, but I think throwing in some big stuff here and there is almost mandatory without slipping in to bravado where every section is a killer. I might feel differently when my own flesh and blood reaches that age. How do the parents (and the existing riders) feel? Truthfully!
  6. Maybe I could take your place - My mother's from Yorkshire, she'd understand
  7. Found it through the bike trials web site, looking for brit champs results
  8. Forum thread for info: Clicky here
  9. Is that cec tate that drew with Perce?
  10. Rumour has it that it's cookie related, so if you've got Firefox and IE, and Navigator etc, you could maybe get away with a few votes
  11. Give the bloke a boost - trials is trials. Vote for the trials park here Just cast your vote for the indoor trials park, and get your mates to do it too, and your mum, errrr and granny.
  12. Some of you will know Sam and Tom Oliver. Ex Motorcycle Trials Riders (well still ride now and then) - converted to bike trials fairly recently, and been training hard, including the odd excursion with Ot Pi. The work showed today at round 1 of the British Champs: Sam came 1st in his age group (12-13) by a fairly large margin, losing 5 marks, the next being around the 40 mark. Tom came 2nd in the 10 year olds. Not a bad result at all - keep it up lads
  13. It's any time those dodgy Beta electrics get near the camera Just imagine what Beta's do to your brain if they do that to a camera. R2W you could be a cabbage within a couple of years. Lucky you work for BT, at least you won't lose your job as well as your health
  14. Not for girls <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But you've got yours!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll give you one <{POST_SNAPBACK}> PLEASE TELL ME YOUR REFERRING TO DANGLEEBITZ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was leaving it open you old sauce pot It left me a comic exit when DGB gave me a good tellin' off
  15. Bit of mud... wasn't worth washing it just for a bit of tyre mud!! A quick hop around the drive and it all came off!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Competition has changed you
  16. Hang on... you never said about doing a Saunders day before you come to the trial with us!!!... we will disown you if you show us up ... my TC sticker in situ, my carbon fibre fork covers will not allow stickers to stay put for too long as the weave is a heavy type that allows water to get under the sticker when washing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh my god What's that on yer back tyre Heath?????
  17. Not for girls <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But you've got yours!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll give you one
  18. You be careful waving that handbag about. You'll 'ave some buggers eye out No offence meant. My kids were born down South, and they're fine. They can even go outside in the summer.
  19. Would be good to hear what the real rules are. I was born in Lancashire, brought up and rode all my trials in East Yorks, then moved to Mid Wales 30 years later. I rode for Mid Wales last year, unfortunately for them No doubting really that Graham is from the South though, he still talks a bit feminine I would have thought that a rider just chooses who he will ride for, but does seem a bit vague.
  20. Wasn't he in third place in the Colmore Cup? Probably not on this bike - I would think on an 06 by now. If it is that one, then it won't be an import, he probably gets fairly good pricing from Rathmells so it pays to stay on a nearly new bike.

What stickers you using on them Dabster/Bigwig? I noticed the ones on Alexz's bike looked the part. Were they the originals?

    Gasgas

He rides a Beta thought <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wouldn't put it past him buying one though
  23. Make it a challenge to get it up the country with TC people. Gotta be some travelling coming up for some people you both know. Novogar maybe? Victory? Lomax? A&B British next week?

    Gasgas

If you pre-order, I reckon he'll make you a special pink one
