  1. I'll hopefully get them mailed to me when they're done. I'll then be deleting my scores before they get on here Had another mare today, started on the first section of the first lap, when I managed to launch my bike over the final bank. That doesn't sound too bad, but I actually watched it disappear over the top as I hung on to the tree half way up I love the optimistic feeling you sometimes get just after messing up - Bloody hell, I might get away with this just before it all goes wrong again
  2. Is the Cleveland generally easier than Novogar then? How many routes? What level? I thought it would be slightly harder - never ridden it, I moved away from the area just before I got to road legal age. Always fancied going back up for it. Do you think the Novogar could handle the extra entries? Lomax usually packed out, Victory last year was cluttered, fair bit of queueing at the Vic Britain. I didn't ride them all last year. Can it take that many entries, seems pretty popular now?
  3. The day I beat Julian or Kyle, hell will freeze over. I don't expect to get close Was a good trial though - we'll travel up there again.
  4. I remain totally self righteous, being a non-smoker. Although a total hippocrate (sp) as I continue to drown my liver, and even worse, work my driving license to the limit with speeding fines which not only affects me, but potentially others. although in 19 years and 40000 miles a year I've never had an accident, it's the same argument I suppose. Don't take it personal Heath, we're worried about you and at least in my case, good to see people getting that little bit reeled in It's good for the heart (mine not yours) There'll be photo's of all of us hippocrates practicing/warming up with no helmets on now
  5. Dead end with Graham Archer. He didn't know much about it, and not too willing to remember who might do, or even his email address for ya! Not too helpful at all, I was a bit surprised...short memories....helped them out earlier this year by observing 3 sections for the Europeans. Ah well I would try the other names. Not sure how much Dave Willoughby was involved, I did see him at the Europeans, I think in an official capacity?
  6. Yep, I think Graham Archer was at the dentre of most of it. I'll try to make a point of getting his email address for you tomorrow. Otherwise, it's all the Midlands clubs there tomorrow, so someone will know.
  7. You sound almost American It's a lovely ideal RS, but the trouble is too many people are too dumb to draw the line, so the rules help the idiots make their minds up. I just hope we don't start overdoing the freedom thing in the UK. Freedom for some people means doing what ever you want no matter what effects it has on the rest of the world. If a helmet makes our sport look more responsible, so that we might keep our current insurers, keep the land/rights of way that we desperately need, allowing us freedom to compete every weekend, then I for one will be the first to give up my freedom to ride without a helmet. Seems a no-brainer to me Anything we can do to make our sport look more professional/responsible should be done now before it's too late. I don't think some people realise how close we could be to the end of trials as we know it if things don't go our way in the years to come. It seems like a petty argument to me.
  8. Of course those silly rules don't apply to the outside lane I tell you what really get's on my nerves at the moment - People sitting in the middle lane when there's nowt in the inside lane. Sexist comment coming up - Normally women with glasses, with their seats pushed so far forward they could steer with their **** (Just an observation) Some people forget that trailers aren't allowed in the outside lane of the motorway either, although technically, I suppose you shouldn't be doing 90 and therefore having to go in to the outside lane to overtake the aforementioned.
  9. My old man used to commute at weekends from Lancashire to Catterick on a bantam during national service, sometimes with pillion passenger. I remember him telling me he used to have to get off and run along side on some of the steeper hills Go on Kinell: Your dad's a fat bast*** as well then BS! Sorry had to beat you to it.
  10. You could try ringing Mark Wells on 07890 269210. I think officially the entries closed on 12th. You never know you might be able to get a late one. I see there's a Walsall AMCA trial on at Sutton Coldfield otherwise - not sure how far that is for you Andy

  13. Rabie doesn't do spelling, but if he did, it would rpobalbe be the best in the world Apologies to those overseas who don't get to see Carlsberg adverts
  14. I tried on a lovely Arai helmet the other day in BVM, for around
  15. Hmmm.... Can see both sides of it, but I'm on the side of wearing a helmet. I had a bad fall as a kid (shut it Kinell). I looped a TY80 at a Middlesbrough trial at Woodhouse farm. Bounced down the hill and the bike bounced down on top of me just about wrecking my helmet. Suspected fractured skull which turned out to be concussion and bruising, but the big white AGV helmet saved my bonce. It's the riders choice as far as his own safety is concerned, but I do believe we should make every attempt to put the insurers minds at ease, otherwise we may not have any insurers left (I know this doesn't include private practicing, but if anybody outside of the sport sees me I like to put over how responsible the sport is). However I wouldn't dream of putting my helmet on for pottering round the back garden. My old man was well renowned for his flat cap, but I cringe now, when I look at the bashes on my helmet, that could have been my head. When I started losing my hair it was amazing how many head injuries I got through rugby, I'm determined not to get any more from trials.
  16. You were holding the funnel wrong or summat Some of it must have gone in. I like the yellow tainted tank anyway And yes Gizza5, this thread should 'not' be in the Sherco forum, or any other for that matter
  17. I'm a VERY BIG Sherco rider, and a fan of a highly polished Sherco 290. Unfortunately the highly polished one isn't mine. Mine's the battered grungy looking one.
  18. I'm not just being argumentative here, I agree with most of your post, just discussing here. I've never been convinced of the great advances in power since the 70's 80's. Having a 16 year gap, I was impressed when I came back a few years ago at how light the bikes were, but not over impressed by the power/torque. I'm not really talking about the bigger bikes, as my 290 has more than enough horses to cart my butt around. I'm thinking more of the 125's and under. My lads got a TY80 now, which pulls my bulk up more hills than any of the modern 50's/80's. Some of the modern 50's seem gutless - maybe this is intentional. I've often thought it would be nice to have something like a Beta 80 with a TY engine in it (despite the extra weight) Remember the Fantic 50. I'd planned riding the Scott on one with an L plate, so my memory can't be too distorted. The 200, a standard clubman bike was only 156cc, and the beast of a 240 was only 212cc. I remember pulling 4th from time to time on the TY175. Admittedly gearing may be different these days, but I'd say the advances in engine power have not been that great for 20-30 years of development. What d'ya reckon?

    200 V 250

Mine maybe isn't a valid argument except for my situation so it's hard for me to comment (and I probably shouldn't have ). If you try getting 6'3" 120Kg round the expert route on a 200 you'll see what I mean though Running out of steam is a fairly regular occurrence, whereas the 290 still feels like a toy, so there seems no point in doing without the power. Although I'd admit that if an incline isn't involved, the smaller bikes feel easier to control, and are probably less work. If I put myself in the shoes of a more average sized bloke I may be more inclined to agree.
  20. Clever bit of photo editing that - nice job

Whatever - it's just numbers It's the plates in my leg. They didn't have titanium in them days, they're solid steel - honest Mind you the advantage is I register 4% on the fat continuity tests, show up on radar when lost, and can pick up radio 2 on a good day

Dont tell me you've got a 200 for sale now RS?

    200 V 250

I don't agree with the popular argument that the 200 will do everything that the 250/290 will do. If that were the case, why would they bother making them - not just due to reliance on male bravado to snap up the bigger bikes. I know that a good rider can make the 200 do a lot, no disputing that, look what the A and B class boys can do on the 125's. I won't bring in the argument of weight - although it's a factor in my case, it's probably not for most riders. Sometimes it's just horses for courses, but for starters, the 290 can give you the choice of an extra gear, sometimes two. It's nice sometimes to have the power to ride 3rd all the way on a big stream/waterfall. There are plenty of hills where third gear on a 200 won't pull all the way, but very few on the 290. Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing against the 200. I think many riders are happy even with the Scorpa 4 banger, so clearly power is not always the priority. Just expressing another opinion.

Don't worry, I always look a bit chubby in photo's as well, but in real life I'm a spritely 120Kg I think that's around 12-13 stone, but my maths may be up the spout
