Get your entry in early Matt. Both Lomax and Victory are done on last in first off I think.
We sent entries off the minute they were out for both of these, and we're right at the back again.
I was number 1 last year and suffered for it. Still enjoyed the ride though. Lovely sections.

Now that's got to be a classic Jock attitude Bigfoot
I'd like to confirm just how bad the cheap option looks, before I go ahead with it.
-
Is this the one you're after. I think this is the 2005 one. As far as I know they updated it to let you know that there is a fair chance you might die

Doh - It was Bigfoot.
Which is obviously an anagram of Boofont.....or sumfink
There....clear as mud....sorted that out.
-
Calm down ladies.
I think what Boofont is trying to say is, Physco isn't a trials newby. He knows what trials bikes are about. Hasn't he actually got a ride in the SSDT this year?
Maybe that was what Physco's question was referring to.
Although he may just be trying to say shut up

Can I let you know after I've finished

Any manufacturers to look out for???
I bought new bearings (front/rear wheel) last week from BML (Bearing Man Ltd). I was asked at the time whether I wanted the cheapo or the decent ones. I went for the decent ones and they were made by FAG. I didn't ask who the ones they considered as cheapo were made by, didn't think at the time.
It may be worth considering when you're shopping around though that the bargain you think you get at one place may just be cheaper bearings.
Anyone know the common manufacturers? Or who GasGas, Sherco and co supply?
As these bearings are presumably the 6004 RS for most manufacturers, how much are they charging for a set of bearings?
-
Well my cheapo speedo has (for some reason) a button you can press to see maximum speed since last reset.
I reckon the speed is measuring about right although it usually seemed to indicate slower than I felt I was going, as the overall distance for the Lomax showed as about 43 miles which I think is about right.
Anyway, the max speed all day was 49.8 mph, and I think that was about flat out at one point.
I think that's fairly realistic.
That's with standard gearing 10:42 on a Sherco 290.
You'll get a bit more with tyres pumped up harder, and less of a lardy on it, but I don't suppose the bike will last long before popping.
I think that speed was in section 12 (tight rock section). Speed can often compensate for a lack of skill

Don't let him know before Sunday Heath. Bugger beat me this weekend while it was running sh*t. Need some revenge this weekend
-
Not sure about durability with the Tesco ones yet mind you. There is maybe a sign of some dodgy stitching after one practice session, and one trial, so maybe not worth buying any yet
Have they got fixed wrist band or velcro Heath?

I never liked riding with gloves on. I remember as a kid riding over the top of Penn Hill in the snow, and not feeling it.
Unfortunately these days I must be in the office too much and I've turned soft. I started just carrying them so I could put them on when needed, but that's a pain in the butt most the time, and now I've got used to wearing them all the time.
I've worn nothing but Hebo's for a few years, and although I find them OK, they don't seem to be anything special for the price.
I've always kept my eyes open for alternative gloves, from places like Mountain Bike shops, but usually the price has been near enough to the Hebo's for me not to bother.
Of all places, I was walking through Tesco's in Northampton the other day (probably when I should have been working) and noticed some cycling gloves in the sports section.

If anybody is around the Mid Wales area this weekend, Saturday sees the Welsh Trophy Trial circling around the Newtown area.
If anybody fancies helping out by observing then please contact Graham Evans at David Jones Newtown on 01686 625010 option 1
Single lap trial, no big delays, so you're not stuck on one section all day.
A few of us local lads will be observing 2 sections at different times through the day, but even if you fancy just one, and then have a watch, that'd be a great help.
I've not seen many sidecars about before, and there are around 25 chairs entered, so looking forward to it.
-
Looking forward to this weekend....if I get the bike back in one working piece. Desparate to avoid a puncture this week
I was number 1 last year so any number other than that will do.
Some luvverrly waterfalls/streams, hopefully a little less slimy than last year - can't wait.
-
I know that's not a great ride for you Wayne, but did you enjoy it, or just a bad day all round?
-
I think they're winging their way to Andy courtesy of Bill Brown at Macctrials, but no harm done in putting them on here.

Like indoors you mean?
I'm not convinced.
Not convinced that they develop extra grip either. This has been the claim of every bike that was a little bit lacking in power. For clubman riders like ourselves, it might have that effect, because our lack of throttle control is compensated a little by the lack of vicious grunt.
I'm not sure a world class rider would be claiming "I like it. It grips well because the lack of power stops it spinning out".
And if they want weight on the back end, they can lean back. I wouldn't imagine that GasGas are adding counterweights to the rear just to give them more grip.
I'm not against the Honda. It's clearly already a very capable clubman bike, and I'm sure in future years it may dominate indoors and out at world level, but I think at the moment, that owner loyalty means their capabilities are constantly being overstated.
It usually annoys someone when anybody says anything negative about them. Most of it is true, and it will undoubtedly get sorted (maybe even the noise problem eventually), I don't see any problem in discussing it.
-
Too many one liners available, all of them borderline, so I'm going to go to bed instead.
Changing the subject - What do you use to get the bike that clean anyway Heath? Pro-clean or summat, or just elbow grease?
BT probably just get too much time off eh?
-
Looks like all the scores are in there, they've just been mixed up.
Probably got right to the end then messed up the 'sort'. Done it myself.
First lot of scores in the clubman are Ian Haigh's for instance.
Cant (be a***d to) find yours though Timp
Possible that the names, positions and totals are right, but the individual section scores and time penalties are misaligned.
-
Whoever you are - I've reported you to the appropriate authorities, and Mark's account will be disabled until his passwords are changed and he regains control of his account.
Mark is a bit of a fat *%$&

He should be able to give you a good idea of the measurements for the clutch plates to confirm if they have gone out of spec. I've not had to do it with the Sherco yet, but the GasGas was an absolute definite. If the clutch was getting tight, the spec was always off.
Worth checking before you splash out your hard earned maybe.
-
I go to David Jones Newtown 01686 625010
Mainly because of Graham Evans and how much he puts in to trials locally. Good to give him some back.
He's marking out the Welsh Trophy this weekend, ever involved with Mid Wales ACU, etc etc Doesn't often ride himself, but puts the work in constantly.
-
Fair one.
I reckon if you try mine, you'll probably see that yours maybe needs a revamp internally. The clutch plate kits are pretty cheap from memory.
-
I think although the design will be possible, and will definitely provide improvements as far as force required, it may be awkward to ride in practice.
I could imagine for a kids bike, where you're trying to get them to feel for the clutch biting, then it may be useful, but for most of us, we don't want to be pulling the clutch in all the way each time. That may prove more tiring than the tougher small movements.
You could design a 4 foot long kickstart Ian That would be much easier to kick over
-
I've got the 290 as well Ian. If we're at a trial together any time soon, then you can try mine to compare at least.
I used to have problems with my 280 gasser tightening up over time, and it was (as has been mentioned), the clutch plates needed repacking/adjusting, but I've not had any bother with the Sherco at all (Yet).

Tom won't be happy he left his fuel off for the graded hillclimb
5 marks gone begging
