  1. Common sense really. If you were getting free bikes and making a living out of a manufacturer, you wouldn't say "sh*t bike". Unless of course you fancied a change
  2. Referring to the last two posts: I tried the sanitary towel thing NeonSurge, and almost immediately there was a tw*t in my helmet
  3. Right, cheers all, looks like caliper off again. We had the caliper stripped, but couldn't get the piston out of this side, and didn't want to force it. Right Doughbouy - something for you to get on with when we get back from the pub Prediction for the six nations: Deleted due to complete misery I'll have to remember to edit this later. I predicted Scotland to beat France, but they were robbed!
  4. I'll be there for breakfast on Sunday Mark. 7.30??????? How much you planning to eat????? Rugby tomorrow - England v Wales Welsh Championship Sunday I'm half English - half Welsh, but my rugby has always been english, despite having Max Boyce drummed in to me from an early age. Just hoping that Wales don't manage to fluke a win, I'll never hear the end of it on Sunday. Mind you, not sure how much I'll dare rubbing it in when England win
  5. Just spent an evening with Doughbouy stripping ......his brakes, as they were binding. It became apparent that the side furthest away from the fork leg was not retracting fully after braking. When we got it all off, it did take some pushing back with g clamps - this was even with the calipers split in half, so no hydraulic pressure. What's the norm with these? Anything you can do once they seize (a little). Left in a WD40 bath for about the time it takes to drink a beer, it does seem to have freed up a bit, but is still binding. You can see when you release the brake that one side is retracting, the other stays pushed up against the disc more. Anything that can be done? Awkward to try and free it up at all when it's stripped down as you need hydraulic pressure to get it out again. And one last thing, can you buy the calipers in bits? Or is it the full job?
  6. rugy - \roo'g'ie\, n 1. Small Welsh instrument played by handsome sporty chaps. I've played the rugy for a few years now Stu, you got any in your orchestra?
  7. Hi Stu, No, anybody can ride the Welsh Championship, but to qualify for points you have to either: Be Welsh Be resident in Wales for three years Have a Welsh born father. (I think I've got those right) It is admittedly on a much smaller scale than the British or Novogar sort of event for instance, but does produce some good events.
  8. A curry always tastes even better the day after Stu I wouldn't say the clubman course is easy, good ride out though, nothing stupid. Does vary depending which club marks it out though obviously. Worth a go. For anybody that's not been involved, the Masters route changes this year. It will be roughly half of each (hard/easy route). This will probably mean that the Championship route will be able to be made that little bit harder - that's certainly the way I'll look at it - don't have to worry about the suicide jockeys when you mark out the odd stinker to sort the top boys out. Not sure who the CofC is for this Sunday yet, expecting to hear something tomorrow, from ACU meeting I couldn't make tonight.
  9. Thanks Dabster, I've bought the trolley, but I'm buggered if I can get the tyre on with it. Have you got any tips? On a less serious note, those prices look pretty good. Anybody got those T-Bar Allen keys? Are they 'monkey-sh*t or OK? Seem cheap. The folding allen keys are cheapest I've seen them, and the plastic is handy to shove in the pocket for those of us that hit the floor regularly. I spent a fortune having my beader apparently hand delivered by topfun, almost doubled the price. Definitely worth it at this price. The real ****er is I've never managed to seal my spokes since about 4 weeks after I got the beader. I need to get that tube out some time.
  10. I'll let you know tomorrow mate. I hope this breakfast isn't going to affect my training regime? D'ya reckon they'll heat up leftover curry for me? Masters route for me too. Should be very competitive this year, people coming up in to it, people coming down in to it, and duffers like me going nowhere and staying in it
  11. Entries close today, so you better get on the phone if not entered already. Graham Evans' number on the entry form if you fancy a last minute one.

Seems a lot of trouble to go to, when you can pick one up off Ebay ready made. Kinell style Beta seat unit The right hand picture even shows off the location for the 'essentials'
  13. Marky G rides a Scorpa! - no one else springs to mind
  14. I was thinking the other day (doesn't happen very often so hear me out). A heavy flywheel is useful once there's a bit of momentum (if you wanted the momentum), but having a lighter flywheel is better for zipping away from a standing start. So....I don't know whether this already exists, but how about a centrifugal flywheel: The bulk of the weight stays at the centre of the flywheel at low revs (held in by springs), and centrifugal force pushes the weights outwards at high revs. I reckon some sort of damping is needed as well to stop the weights flying out to the outside immediately when you give it some quick revs. Does it already exist? Is it a bad idea? Any other comments? Should I get out more?
  15. I think the trouble is the reservoir has to be the highest part of the system so that the air rises to the top of it. Would be good to have rid of it though.
  16. I'm not sure, but I think this may be the best performance by any wildcard rider in the indoors. For a few years at least. Wildcard riders are always last. A minute and a half faster than any other rider too.
  17. I was in BVM the other day in Stroud (when I should have been working). They had a couple of good looking ones - xciting (blue or red I think), raw sport in black, and definitely had a load of those bright yellow ones. I didn't look too much at those as I have no desire to look like a 6'3" canary, but the xciting were about

Yours is the 3rd one I've seen go. I've mentioned this before about Beta's. I don't know whether thay've changed the design now but they needed to. I put my adjusters whichever way leaves it pointing upwards, so it stays out of the way of rocks.
  19. Have you been talking to Bikespace by anychance? Just in case anyone missed the chuckle... Marky G was commenting on HL's avatar last week, unfortunately in front of at least 4 or 5 p'ss takers. "She's got a cute bum on her anyway" says Mark. Er.....that's Raga's a*se Mark! Laughed all the way to the burger van... (several times )

    Scorpa Sy250

I was watching some Japanese trials video the other day, and I saw the advantage to not having a flat bash plate for the pro-riders. They were going over a log at an angle. The lads with the flat bash plates couldn't sump out because it was throwing them off to one side. It seemed that the Scorpa riders were able to perch on the log easier. Dunno if that's exactly the reason, but it seems to make sense. Probably more for the lads that can balance on a needle edge I suppose (so you may as well get that flat one fitted Mark )
  21. I manage with a 25 litre, but I bought a tyre beader. You'll find previous threads about 'em. Bloody wonderful thing once you shorten it a bit (Dabster tip). I paid through the nose for mine from Spain. Now available from www.trialsbits.co.uk. They do say you can get it inflated with a foot pump with one of these beaders. I managed it once, but it's not reliable. Needed to cut 2 inches out of mine and superglue it back together.
