+1 on some cash for the training instead of bling.
Best money and time I spent on my bike was on how to ride it!
-
Congrats! Looks great and I am sure you will be quite happy with it.
-
Looks like it's a 2014 or 15 fender... If I am wrong and it's a sticker kit I want to know where to get one!
-
I do several ways, with clutch slip no rear brake, rear brake no clutch, front end up a slight hill rocking back and forth clutch no front brake, down hill front brake only, etc.
Keep at it!

I just recently found out about the 315 engine in a 4RT frame modification. Wondering about how well that would ride in comparison to the stock 4RT. LOL
-
I suspect many of the basic ones are in here. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/55216-new-4rt-mods/
Though Maybe not Repsol specific.
-
Makes me wonder if the one you took a ride on didn't have the full power map enabled...
-
Based on my experience a 1k resister could be enough to not select a map. It wasn't my 4RT but a different dual sport. But I did end up swapping back to a simple switch and fixed it.
-
I would try a prime kick/push and see. Bet it would work. FYI even if you can start it with one kick I might give it a prime kick when cold, it seems to help set the system for altitude/air density in my exp.
-
I find some have a little trouble actually getting used to the fact that it's more of a push than a sharp kick.
For me a 1/2 to 3/4 push fallowed by a smooth full push will start mine almost every time. Never feels harsh at the end of the stroke or slamming into the peg but will stop at the end of the strok. On a really cold morning I have had to give a 2nd full kick once in awhile but not often.
-
I have not had one issue wit my 2007 4RT that wasn't me messing it up. I have done some preference changes but otherwise it's ride rinse repeat with an oil and filter change here and there. I am also a maintenance upkeep guy so yearly I do some extra to keep it 100%, like grease the bearings replace if needed etc. but I could likely do that every other year and be fine.
As for the ride, other than not liking the slower suspension so I changed oil and had it re-valved to my weight and running the tubes lower in the top clamps to improve tucking during full lock turns I really like it.
In comparison to my wife's Gas Gas, I love it! My wife likes the feel of it better in most ways and is even considering letting me get her one as well. The only two things she likes better on the Gas Gas is bing a 125 it's easier for her to start and she prefers the way the Gas Gas turns.
-
It could also be a DB killer to cut the sound down?
-
New plug and a slow smooth push not a hard kick. I have also found at high altitude or cold days a half kick/push then full kick helps too.

sucks if you ask me but yes I have seen things pulled before.

Ya the 300RR is true drool factor!
I want a 300RR so much I have been doing some creative financing, side job, to get some extra money for one...
-
I just think it would look cool in Repsol, but ya it couldn't pull it off as good as a pure trials bike can.
And if your paying for photoshop time a Repsol remake isn't on the need list.
-
I agree with ftp on this one, however that is not to say a 300 is a bad choice, just not my first choice. I started on a 125 and am glad I did and could still today ride everything I can ride on my 250 on that same 125 though a bit more throttle would be required...
Getting a 300 and taming it down might work fine if you are already an advanced/experience enduro rider and ride a large bore 300 to 500 already as you will likely adapt quickly with the past experience. Also if your 115 kg (250 lbs) or more a tamed down 300 could be a good option.
Even then, as stated, a 300 once it gets away from you is a handful and when I consider that I myself at 84 kg (185 lbs) can do everything I know how to do now on my 250 on a 125 is it needed? I don't think so.
Best of luck and even if you do get a 300 I am sure you will do just fine as long as your willing to stick with it.
-
That looks like your leaning back a lot and cutting into the boot from one side (rear side) of the pegs?
If so that can be a result of not giving yourself enough room in the cockpit by having the handlebars to far back. Or having the rear brake adjusted to high.
Just thinking out loud...
-
I hope someone eventually makes a Repsol sticker kit for them...
Would look way better in my opinion...

Not sure what you have in France but in the US I see at least one place has a "Gaerne Replacement Sole" and the Forma Boulder trials boot sole as well. Maybe you can keep the Gaerne and a shoe shop could stitch a pair of the Forma sols to the Gaerne upper?
Best of luck.

I see a UK on your post so maybe they call it something different out there?
Advanced trials training: how to splatter (or splat) on trials bikes...

Do you recall witch brand and type of ATF? I know Gas Gas for a time in years past (not sure on how long ago) had a reaction to one brand or type of ATF and would swell the plates but a different type was fine.
