  1. Cheers Jonnyc21, I would prefer to have it right, spoke to a guy who has a 4rt and fitted a showa unit, says a massive improvement, he also fitted compression to the fork's, better to have it all from the beginning rather than start chasing improvement, I'm a low level rider but a well sorted bike is a better start ?
  2. So I think I have decided on the MONTESA, a new one as there seems to be genuine improvement over last year's, I've read they have dropped some carbon goodii, anyone know what they cut from the 2020 over the 2019. But the final question is is the Repsol worth £1000 more than the standard 4rt? , Suspension can make a bike much more confident and enjoyable, also I'd the S3 gasser pipe worth the £££ ,I probably don't need it, well I don't but if it improves all round engine it's maybe worth the investment to have a finished bike??
  3. No I ride an Ox now, load's of grip, ,4 heal drive ???
  4. I tentatively put my BETA Evo 250 4/ up for sale, a mate bought it straight away, now I have to find a bike, mine was very clean and well looked after, I got an excellent ox offer so sold it to him for that price
  5. The MONTESA is where I'm thinking, loved the 4/ engine but would like a bit more off the throttle response, which I believe the mont has, I had a play in a car park (dirt) for a few minutes and felt at home, seemed easier to balance as well
  6. I tentatively put my 2013 BETA Evo 250 4t up for sale and a mate bought it. I'm giving up enduro so selling my Husky 250tpi 2018. I want to focus more on trials but would like the option to occasionally maybe enter an enduro or do a play day mainly for a ride and the social which is important to me. My bike choices are a MONTESA 4 RT probably a Repsol and perhaps fit a long range kit when needed or this TRS x-track in 250cc, and have a slim tank to fit for the trials. My riding will mainly be trials. I know the play/enduro will be a compromise but my red mist racing days are behind me. I like the 4/ chuggability but the beta 250 4/ was really good but lacked the instant drive you get with a 2/. Otherwise it was spot on What's your thoughts???
  7. I bought a 250 4t, fantastic starter bike that is so capable, as I improve the bike is still delivering plenty, if you can find one consider it or .200, buy a good bike not a cheap bike, £££save in the long run
  8. Maybe sucking in air? Or the throttle cable had dislodged? Was the smoke.from exhaust overly white or did it stink as if it was burning gearbox oil?
  9. I'm thing to bare in mind it that some.oil has a high burn rate (or something like that) so a low reving engine doesn't burn it off and will be smoky)
  10. Was it running like that when you bought it? Or has the problem developed since, if since have you mixed too much 2/ oil? Maybe if you ride it for a bit it'll clear if the exhaust is soaked in oil? If the bike sounds ok I'd run it around a bit, maybe build up throttle to see if it clears.
  11. Out of interest, did you remove the piston to clean the black carbon.off the top of the piston or clean it while in the barrel?
  12. Where are you based I have some old tyres that are barely used, that I changed due to age, the front Michelin isn't as good as the new one but the rear IRC doesn't feel any different, if you're near Ashford Kent you can have them for free
  13. I agree, enduro is going the same way, physically off the scale, extreme sections, high risk of injury on an£7500 bike that drops money faster than a cheap hooker's draws on a quiet night, I'm actually moving over more to trials because travelling 2 hours to an enduro to be beaten up and suffer all week has lost its shine
  14. I think it's an interpretation as in you can exercise by playing football,if you're a footballer, it's exercise in an open space, I was also emailed offering 1-1 enduro training, I think they have probably made sure it's ok, I'm going on my own, my mate might be going as well, and we'll be social distancing. Probably won't even see the others with luck
  15. obviously push the pistons on the caliper all the way in,I removed the whole system (i did have to pull the resivoir off to get it out (refitted it) .Then I put the master cylinder in a clamp and using a syringe i back bled it, the brake line has lots of curves in it and I just carefully kept moving it so the bubbles ouer a couple of hours would make their way to the M/C,I jabbed the plunger with a ohilips screwdriver to sort of "flick" the M/C piston, this flicks any air out into the res.took time but works, then I'd pump the pistons out,let any air make its way to the M/c then push them back in,forcing any air out .I tried to imagine the position where any air maybe trapped and adjusted the M/c in the vice to allow the air to move towards the exit.
  16. I'm going to a practice ground on Monday, limited to 7 riders
  17. I've had the bike from. almost new, only 30hr on meter, most things have no wear but just doing a refresh
  18. The ones I have are probably more the acceptable, but I think I'll put new ones on to eliminate any excuses ??
  19. Thanks, when I post a question it doesn't usually get answered, but when it does it usually points Menon the right direction ?
  20. Ah that was 5 yrs ago, tbh I'd never really thought about how old they were as they"look" new , so it's a yes then?
  21. I checked the date stamps on the bike, the bike is a '13 and tyres are 2011 and 2012, I guess they should be replaced with new rubber, although they have virtually no wear, thoughts???
  22. I like this site but it is quiet, but if you search and dig around you can find out most thing's, I'm always looking for technical training advice and video's, thanks to the general attitude towards motorcycle off road gone are the days that you could just go to some.waste land and practice, I can only ride wobblers days and occasionally an event, so building skills is hard unless you spend your whole time driving around the country. During the lockdown I've spent a lot of time riding in the back garden trying to improve, but if I could just find a bit of land and practice I'd ride more, if I turn up at an event I just haven't had enough bike time to not feel like a dick in a section.
  23. Apart from signing on I can't see a problem, the W.H.O Actually now say 1 meter apart and it's how long you stay near someone, the 2 m distance has been reviewed, most of the time, if not all the time I don't think at a trial I'm nearer than a meter anyway, if everyone brought their own pens and wore gloves then signing on issues are resolved
  24. I have a hand pump and draw the fuel out after each meeting, I've been practicing outside the house, luckily it's a private rd and is hard packed dirt, I chuck a couple of logs in the road and mess about. Neighbors are fine luckily
