  1. Ive often fancied that, managed fender grabs before. Very impressive.
  2. what you all need is a vauxhall nova, put the back seats down, take rear fender off, rear wheel out and it fits in. plenty of room for kit and girlfriend. Doesn't do the car any good tho. Perhaps a Mercs Vito would be ideal.
  3. There is lack of consistancy throughout the centres, an intermediate in one centre in not an intermediate in another, they maybe the same on paper, but rider skill can be worlds apart.

The problem is there are no national gradings, i.e you can be an expert in say the cheshire centre, come to a yorkshire trial, you are expected to ride the experts course, which is by far too much for those centre riders, a good example of this is Toby eyre, he is one of the best riders in his centre, he often comes to ride in richmond trials, the hard course is way beyond him, he just likes to have a good ride around, not get hurt and have a bag full of cleans on the green or clubmen course, by rights he should be riding the hard course in all trials, but it does nobody any favours making them ride something they dont feel comfortable with. there will always be someone winging that there are people riding the wrong course but, it should make you try harder to beat a better rider. what the we need is a national points scoring system, for example the british championship riders should be the top, Jarvis no.1 right through to no.55, who was last in the experts championship. The next level could be the novogar series, which should exclude all riders who have scored championship points, this then opens the novagar series to riders who are not capeable of the hop skip and jump in the championship rounds, by bringing trials back to the majority. The points could be awarded to the top 30 or so riders. These trials are pretty straight forward, you dont need to be able to hop and bounce, just straight forward sections where 10-15 people can win a round. Anyone any ideas????
  5. The problem is that there are so many riders at a very similar ability in the expert class, bar Jimbo, ben hemmo and bricey there are probably 7 or 8 riders that can take 4th place spot. Its got to be hard to decide who rides and who doesn't, Maria is our top lady, a long way ahead of the others, it will do her good to ride with the lads, i have no complaints there. But there are perhaps some names on there who have just entered for the hell of it. I had my doubts that i'd get in,only doing 1 round, scored well tho then was forced to take the rest of the year out due to injury, but a good way to decide who gets in would be to kick out the riders who have just done 1 or 2 rounds and give the places to people who will be commited to doing all or the majority of the rounds, i for one will be mounting an assauult for some of the top places, that will mean doing all the rounds. timpers must be gutted not to get in, as is roger williams. But the line has to be drawn somewhwere. If i wasn't accepted in the experts i would have called the acu and tried to get in the masters, (they need some more riders) but it wouldn't have been as enjoyable to ride. what the acu need to do is to kick out any 1 hit wonders that have only done their local round and give the rides to people like Richard suffell, who may not have scored points, but he is willing to support the whole series. Or they could just let everyone ride, where's the problem in that, cant clubs deal with ore than 55 riders, or is it the acu that cant deal with it.
  6. i take it the picture is of the main s/arm pivot point. if it is, find a correct sized socket, a perfect fit against the bearing edge but not too big to catch the housing. Now you need to press the bearings out in the vice, using a larger socket to press the bearings into. confused? i am.
  7. putting 1 extra tooth on the front is the same as taking 4 off the rear.... a hugh jump in gearing, probably too much may be worth a try tho.
  8. mines virtually standard, Changed to renthal bars, the origional bars were too wide for me, couldn't reach on really tight corners, and renthal chain, short ajp levers (i prefere the feel), geared it up by 2t off the rear sprox. 1st gear for most stuff now. I left the baffle in the exhaust, (got plenty of power for me). Obviously taken the restrictors out and put the jet kit in. Jitsie Kevlar fork protectors, Braybrook off road accesories, filler cap, oil filler cap, hebo footrests. Dunlop tyres and apico sx rated brake pads. I eased the spring rate off a litttle to give a softer feel on the forks, the rear i have left alone, quite happy with that. Well after all that i guess its not virtually std.

    Tc Trial

    its a good venue, a stream running up the middle, sections in the stream on the bank then onto open moorland and rocky outcrops. I think i'm going to a trial at the venue on sunday, decent size lap, good sections and a pub not far away.

    i'm quite nervous about the ssdt, never been to it, never thought about riding it until this year. what do i expect? In distance wise, it seems the equilivant of a scott per day! (no problem then!!!) yet i've never done 20 or so miles on a trials bike on the road. That itself must be truly mind and a*** numbing, then they expect you to do sections too. Whats the delay all about? So andy's the team manager then, responsible for the everyday running of the team? So whats the tactics this year? reverse the course markings to confuse the competitors? Or how about remove them all together?

    money and fags just in case of a bad day. lots of spares, gear lever, brake pedal, levers, throttle assy, nuts and bolts, puncture stuff, basically the scott kit.

  14. i ran most of my bikes, Beta, scorpa, gassers on motul 6002t @ 75ml to 5litres unleaded fuel, roughly 66:1 The mont, either silkolene comp 2sx or castrol a747 @ 62ml to 5 litres

    Airbox(2001+)

    the only time i get water in the monty airbox is after washing with the pressure washer. None gets in from riding through streams, just a beed of silicone between the box and rear fender does the job.
  16. astars offer the most support, but they're not lasting me more than 8 months.
  17. change em about every 3 months, or after a big crash landing on the bars. it's not worth the risk of mashing yer face and plus its a confidence thing. you can ride at 100% without the worry of em breaking on big hits. Look at fugi's bars at sheffield, they were probably brand new!

  20. retarding the ignition will alter the power throughout the rev range. will have to look into the programmable ignition, need to speak with someone at the factory i guess. Tryin a larger main jet may be a benefit. will give it a try. Cheer all.
  21. I've been racking my brains all morning on this one. On a Gas Gas 280 pro raga replica, there is just too much top end power, what i mean is from nothing to 2/3 throttle the power is fine, nice and linear, offering plenty of manageable grip, the problem starts when using the top end, last 3rd of the throttle, the power seems very lumpy, it tends to come in all of a sudden, very good for dry conditions but not good for slippery english sections. I am running out of ideas, we dont want to alter the bottom end at all, but there seems to be no way of softening the top end without the bottom. ANY IDEAS? lowering compression, reed valve, carburation is good, base gasket/head spacer, different electrics. I'm stuck. please help....... no i'm not switching camps just helping a friend.
  22. sounds more electrical than anything else, probably the charge or pulsar coil beginning to break down behind the fly wheel. they are quite cheap and easy to replace. Or again take the flywheel off, if everything is covered in a white fungus (caused by dampness sat in there) that will also cause the spark to break down under load. Dry it all out, scrape all the ****e off and it should go.
